this is one of strangest debates - Ramones and Who. 2 bands are completely unrelated. BUT personally speaking I saw the ramones in 1980 as a 16 year old punk/new wave fan. and at around the same time I was just getting into the Who - went to see "the kids are alright" and Quadraphenia at the movies-I geuss I was really inot the whole Mod/jam /who were massive in those days. never seen the who in concert - but the Ramones were wall of sound-unbeleivablele-sticks in my brain as the best gig ever.
I don't know about that!! I think the 2 bands had a lot in common - they both had one guitar player, and Pete Townsend didn't really perform any great solo's like Johnny. Admitedly they had Moon and Entwistle who were freaks. The Ramones played at such speed which just plain hard to do and had so much melody. Both rocked in my book. Ramones are maybe more important than the Who - because they created a genre - who just built on what was happening at the time - thats my opinon
@zebbmitz Like all people devote their lives to music, Joey had wide and surprising taste. According to all who knew him though his favorite group was U2. In fact he was listening to U2 recordings, at his request, as he passed away.
They were born with plastic spoons in their mouths too, but thanks to the American way, hard work and believing in your dream...died with gold and platinum spoons. We all have a shot is what the entire Ramones odyssey was trying to tell us. :-) Live your truth people, no one else can tell you your true worth, only God....and He loves ya, a lot.
right yeah I do see what you mean. He wasn't really much of a lead player although he did play guitar solos unlike Johnny (for the most part) and he was a true inspiration for punk by being a master of the power chord. =)
Yeah but you know what I mean?? Even Townshend himself admitted that he wasn,t really a lead player - he was the master of the power chord and a song writer. The who was the sum of all parts - in the same way as the ramones were...
@DannyDied1 You are so wrong! I have always loved The Who, but NO OTHER BAND AT ALL is more important to Rock 'n Roll than The Ramones, except for The Beatles. The Who had Keith Moon, but The Ramones had Dee Dee Ramone. I'd like to see Pete attempt All's Quiet On the Eastern Front. I'm a lifelong Who fan, but I think that the ramones are better than all except The Beatles.
@54markl Well, we all have our different taste, so here's my opinion - I like the Who AND the Ramones better than the Beatles! John Lennon had a brilliant mind, sense of humor and musical edge, but the Beatles didn't have the powerful rhythm sections of the Who and the Ramones and overall they never rocked out half as hard as either the Who or the Ramones (o.k., maybe on "I'm Down" . . . ).
Yo era fanático de The Beatles desde los 13 años, pero ahora a los 51 años, después de escuchar y tocar mucha música, The Ramones son lo máximo para mí. Saludos.
would be funny seeing the Who doing a Ramones cover. The world most popular bands have done tributes to the ramones. best for my money was u2's version of beat on the brat and I don,t even like u2
Sorry i love the Ramones and the Who and I don't usually compare them but Pete Townshend did MANY solos that Johnny couldn't ever be able to play. He doesn't even like guitar solos.
i've been listerning to the ramones for 22 years, have 35 cd's plus lots of rare stuff, but i've never heard this one before, thanks for posting it.
One of my favorite singers singing one of my favorite songs! Cool!
Only people who don't understand Rock n Roll would start arguing about whether The Who or The Ramones were the real deal.
fuck the who they were mainstream like any other late 60s band
@@coldslugger8219 You sound like an idiot.
Great song!
Ramones songs are simple and always sound happy, full of energy, like kids full of life for ever
Amazing cover.

Near the end you would even think the drummer is going Keith Moon on his kit and Johnny will drill his guitar in the amp! Great.

Check out the version by Soul Barber, Hard Core!!
@Frankb1989 He was head of the ramones fan club

he sounds rested in this one like his 80's voice...he was always sick in the 90s with constant touring and his voice was starting to get shredded
I think it's DeeDee on bass, but who is the one in the middle ?
@partyongarth420 Is there something wrong with you? That's Joey and DeeDee they're not girls.
