Owning the album “Frampton Comes Alive” in the 1970’s was literally a rite of passage for us millions of American suburban teenagers. Thank you Peter, you were a part of a magical time in our lives.
Producer Rick Beato keeps Peter alive on his YT channel -- says Peter is one of the best guitarists. He loves his solo in "Lines on my face" And Rick actually played the solo in "Stairway to Heaven" in the style of Frampton instead to compare it to Page. If you search YT, you'll see it.
I laughed when Zappa mocked him with "I (have been) in you".... But I do like him. His guitar playing is great. And he DEFINATELY comes off as a nice friendly guy.
Graduated in '78 and the 70s can and will never be replaced. We're so effing lucky to have seen and experienced things kids nowadays will never. Even though I'm 64 now, I'm so happy I grew up in that era and wouldn't trade it for the world.
I was on Panama City Beach in 76 and Frampton comes alive was blurring from every car stereo system on the beach and the strip. It was an awesome time. Thank you Peter Frampton.
It’s actually rather sad that a broadcast journalist, at one time the standard-bearer for the industry, is now doing celeb soft stories. Yes, it’s better than Us Weekly, but it’s nothing compared to what he once was.
Have it, husband has it, son has it. Frampton Comes Alive was a writ of passage in the ‘70’s. Never get tired of it. And don’t forget his contribution in Humble Pie. Congratulations getting inducted into the RR hall of Fame. 🤩💯
Met Peter after a show in Nashville that he was also attending. Shook his hand, told Peter I had been a fan since the 9th grade when his live album was released. To shake the hand that had thrilled so many with his musical prowess truly a delight....
I'm not a guitar player, singer and songwriter but I'm understanding Peter's nervousness about how in the heck he was supposed to top or sustain the greatness of the Frampton Comes Alive album. Everyone had this album. He WAS in fact competing with himself. I love this man a guitar genius and a very humble gentleman. Congrats Peter on being inducted (finally) into the R&RHOF. From a 4-ever fan 🎉🎶🎶🎵🎵🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Yes. I've owned Frampton Comes Alive numerous times and it is phenomenal. However, I finally got to see him live about 20 years ago i think it was, and he and his band blew that album out of thw water! Wow! 💚
My advice to anyone who doesn’t know about this “Live” album is to actually listen carefully to the guitar work on it. He’s a master; in my opinion one of the top 10 guitarists of all time. He goes from blues riffs, to jazz, to classical and back effortlessly hitting all the major and minor modes. Listen to “Do you feel like I do.” And the guitar solos in that. You’ll get the idea.
Seeing that Peter is doing well and at peace with the road he has taken is an inspiration. He could just as easily have dived off the deep end and never have come back, but he chose to face his demons take a better path. Obviously, he turned his life around and has built a nice life for himself. That took real strength and courage. Respect! 💪
I love Peter Frampton, his talent, incredible, but he was GORGEOUS! That can never be denied. He is still a handsome man, and he is so real. Frampton Comes Alive was THE ALBUM!
That album brings back so many memories of 1976. I was 15 at the time, and loved it, and still do. It seemed like everyone in New Zealand bought that album. Thank you Peter.
I was 13 and down in the Deep South in Dunedin… and yeah you’re right Tracey it was on everyone’s record player and still is on mine… even though the Damned and the Sex Pistols arrived a short time later and changed everything 🙂 We were so blessed to grow up with so much great music and bands
I remember courting my girlfriend (who later became my wife) and I would bring over to her place "Frampton Comes alive" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" and we absolutely went through Diamond head Needles on her Stereo phonograph playing those two albums! We both were just out of High School....invincible....and totally in love! ❤
I fell in love with the love of my life as a teenager listening to frampton comes alive.. when his songs come on the radio it still takes me right back there to those sweet days
This reminds me of dad coming home from night shift. He would pour a glass of beer that he never finished and just blast this song. Now I'm 60 and he's 83 and we still blast this song together. Still making memories I'll never forget
Peter is pondering...pensively trying to answer why Frampton Comes Alive broke all sales records. I'll answer that question for you Peter...because the record is incredible on every conceivable level! It has songs with the most amazing hooks together with unprecedented guitar wizardry that included Peter brilliantly bringing his guitar to life through the use of a talk-box, making it seem as though his guitar could also talk to the audience. On top of all this, it has the power and ambiance of a live audience cheering it on like rocket fuel! That's why!
Loved him since I was 11 and my dad brought home the 45 of Baby I love your way. Christmas of 1976 got the album, still own it. Always a fan....wish him the best with his fight against IBM and hope he can play for years to come. I suffered a medical emergency that put me a chair ....he is an inspiration.
He's still gorgeous! When I was a teenager, I had a huge poster of him on my bedroom wall.....huge picture of him in the middle, and smaller ones all around the edges 🥰
Thank you, Peter Frampton for your honesty and vulnerability. This interview will help many, many people. One again, money/business rears it's ugly head, contributing to an artist hating their craft, too.
A rock and roll Gentlemen, Peter Frampton. Humble Pie and then going solo and “ Frampton Comes Alive “ made it look easy . Thank you for the memories Sir !
Even though Peter Frampton has had just as many pitfalls in his career, he is still a very strong guitarist, and the albums he made while still a member of Humble Pie kicked ass. That's all I can say about this interview.
Peters song writing and playing has always been under rated, innovative and unique - best of all it still sounds fresh a half a century later , God bless You Mr.Frampton, your music has been the soundtrack to my life from childhood to middle age and has given me comfort, joy and inspiration every step of the way
I went to his first “final” concert a few years ago. He is STILL very a very impressive musician and engaged with the audience. He loved his fans and we loved him back. See him if you can!
You asked me to be your friend many many years ago at a concert. Just sit and talk and I was scared because I didn't really know anything about you and myself and a young age. But you are a wonderful person as I know now. I wish I had said ok and just sat down to a cup of tea and just talked. God bless you.
I lost count on how many copies of Frampton Alive I brought. Especially the cassettes. Peter was the very 1st concert I went to in 1977 in Madison Square Garden
I'm a huge fan of Humble Pie. Often overlooked are Humble Pie's first two albums, titled, "Town and Country," and "As Safe as Yesterday Is." Frampton's singing, songwriting and guitar playing on these early, somewhat mellow albums was magnificent.
I agree, and I will say that if a person doesn't know Pete's work with the Pie and his early solo albums, they really don't know Frampton, he is deeper than 'Show me the way', lol !
A very down to earth person. Honest. And a great talent. I have the album Frampton Comes Alive. I remember when the Album first came out. It was great then and still great today. Thank you Peter Frampton. ❤️🙏🏻
The parallels between what A&M Records put him through and what they put the Carpenters through are disconcerting. Both were considered the "golden goose" of the label and both had an almost impossible touring and recording schedule.
I am 58. Yes, many on here are a bit older but to me as a huge Rock fan since 1973. Yes and Led Zep were my start. I have always felt that five albums of the 1970s rocked my world then and now like no others. No order of importance: "Frampton Comes Alive" "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" "Boston" "Van Halen" "Highway to Hell"
❤ you forever Peter Frampton !!! You were a part of my childhood. I will carry you in my heart FOREVER !!! YOU ARE FOREVER BELOVED !!! I still play your music ! ❤ you !!!
Was lucky enough to go see Mountain in 1970 at Spectrum. Ozzy with Black Sabbath was second on the Bill and a little known band called Humble Pie played first. With Peter and Steve Marriott. Humble Pie was the best band that night. Blown away would be to put in mildly.
I looked exactly like Peter and I got VIP treatment at bars - disco's - restaurants in Chicago and I was asked for an autograph many many times ...even all of my friends called me Frampton !
I just turned 15 when that album came out in January 1976. It hit No. 1 in April. It was the smash of the summer before I went to high school (10th grade). I remember Frampton and Queen especially that summer. Bohemian Rhapsody. Great stuff. Blows away anything on the radio today. Maybe I'm just too old these days (almost 64).
The live album was extremely pivatel for the 70's , everyone loved it. I'd say everyone has a fond memory with that album. Love everything he done , fantastic musician and song writer.
Owning the album “Frampton Comes Alive” in the 1970’s was literally a rite of passage for us millions of American suburban teenagers. Thank you Peter, you were a part of a magical time in our lives.
'North American' suburban teenagers... 😉 That album ruled in Canada in the 70s!! RULED!
Yup still have my copy and its in great shape. The record player? Not so much.
Everyone had that great album, and it was at every other garage sale. So common I owned 7 copies as a collector!
I was lucky to see him live when they recorded FCA at Winterland in San Fran in 1974. Unforgettable !
aww I own it too and I love it!
Peter looks great, and he is a kind and decent man.
Peter lost his hair and that was the beginning of the end, in this business it's all about looks!!!!!
Frampton is a living legend.
Yeah!
He still looks GREAT at 74!😍
agree , he has beautiful smooth skin .. love the 70's
Absolutely looks great
Very Handsome ❤
Yes he does!!
I was thinking the same thing.
Frampton Comes Alive. One of the best live albums ever. Outstanding.
agreed! i talked my dad into getting me a whole new stereo system, just for that album ☮
No live album is really live, lots of studio overdubs and trickery.
Smooth move, dude.@@somejackball
@@StanDupp6371 Made In Japan 72 qualifies
Don’t forget Humble Pie “ Rockin the Fillmore”. He plays and sings on it. Best live album
He still looks great and is one of the most melodic guitarists ever.
Thank you for acknowledging my song's ❤, where are you from and would you love to be my friend?
This man is a legend 🙌 My childhood wouldn’t be the same without Frampton Comes Alive.❤
For me it was Zappa's Apostrophe!!!
A real grounded gentleman without the typical ego. Time brings wisdom. I could easily be his friend
Yes he is Humble Pie
I don’t need no doctor 🎶
I laughed when Zappa mocked him with "I (have been) in you".... But I do like him. His guitar playing is great. And he DEFINATELY comes off as a nice friendly guy.
I agree he comes across as humble, and amiable. I would love it if he signed my guitar.
@williamolsen20 Is he in you? Are you in him?
What was incredible about Peter Frampton is that he smiled all the time, which was very rare for musicians to do at that time.
At what time? This is recent
@@acookslaShe’s talking about his concerts. 🙄
I know, he’s such a lovely human.
Then Eddie came along and smiled a bit too much.
He is definitely joy filled.
A magical time is 70s with great musicians it was a wonderful time to grow up❤
Graduated in '78 and the 70s can and will never be replaced. We're so effing lucky to have seen and experienced things kids nowadays will never. Even though I'm 64 now, I'm so happy I grew up in that era and wouldn't trade it for the world.
Class of 79 in the house. Do you feel like we do?
I have to agree!! ❤
Oh the memories!
@@kimsold22 class of ‘76 here. I loved that song and the era we grew up in. Do you Feel like I Dooooo!
That record consumed the summer of 1976, and those were the days when a record could have a cultural impact. I miss those days.
That one and Fly like an eagle along with Bostons debut all bring back the summer of 76
I was only 10 but was well aware that those were to be the best days of my life, I got the Boston album and this one, great stuff and always will be.
Peter, I am 14 years sober too! I am glad I was in high school when Frampton Comes Alive. It was a great time to be alive.
Congrats.............good job.
Great to hear! Keep hanging in there.
Welcome to the club! 👍
I bought Framton comes alive in 1976 and i thought its never getting better than this , the summer of my life
Yupp the 70’s was definitely the peak of commercial Rock & roll talent , I didn’t think it would ever end ? 😢
I was on Panama City Beach in 76 and Frampton comes alive was blurring from every car stereo system on the beach and the strip. It was an awesome time. Thank you Peter Frampton.
Same on Long Island beaches.
Same in Lake Tahoe, CA
Frampton's voice still intact and his guitar tone is gorgeous.
Dan asks some great questions and is also a great listener.
Very much so.
Dan has no idea who Peter Frampton is.
It’s actually rather sad that a broadcast journalist, at one time the standard-bearer for the industry, is now doing celeb soft stories. Yes, it’s better than Us Weekly, but it’s nothing compared to what he once was.
He's a totally disgraced fraud. 😊
Dan Rather is completely out of his element interviewing rock n roll celebs. The 'look' is ALL WRONG! I wonder whose 'bright idea' this was?
Have it, husband has it, son has it. Frampton Comes Alive was a writ of passage in the ‘70’s. Never get tired of it. And don’t forget his contribution in Humble Pie. Congratulations getting inducted into the RR hall of Fame. 🤩💯
He has always been the Golden Guy with the Golden Heart and a world class musician.
I love Peter Frampton even more today!! What a great guy!!❤
A lovely morning to you! Thank you for the kind words Sandy where are you from?
Peter interviews so well.. better than any other musician I know of
A lovely morning to you! Thank you for the kind words, where are you from?
“Frampton Comes Alive” - so did we - many thanks to you Peter for your body of work - it is nothing short of exquisite!
He looks great. What a handsome mature man....and the talent....my god.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
And I still love you all these years later!!
A lovely morning to you! Thank you for the kind words, where are you from?
He was the one of the biggest rock stars in the 1970's. Saw him several times back then and also recently! Great guitarist!
Thanks for all of the great interviews Dan Rather. Love Frampton.
Absolute legend. Inspiring guitarist and songwriter.
First album I ever bought, took the city bus downtown and purchased Frampton Comes Alive. I loved Peter Frampton
Imagine bringing so much joy to so many people just once in your life let alone his other achievements. Thanks Peter and all the best to you.

I saw Peter Frampton for my 16th Birthday in the summer of 1976 in Boston, what a time of life it was.. I truly miss those days ❤
His father was my Art teacher. A very good teacher.
In 1976 we were freshman in high school and we loved his music

I’ve really enjoyed just about all these Dan Rather interviews with music stars from the 60’s and 70’s. You can tell that he’s enjoying himself too.
Yes, they’re great interviews. They’re something I can binge watch.
And DAN is 93! Sharp! Pete looking great at 74. Humility makes everyone look good; definitely a strength and a friend.
He's such a talent and absolutely one if the greatest guitarist of all time ❤
He's inherently likable, with an unusual amount of self-awareness.
I was 16. Saw he and Gary Wright open for Yes Relayer tour with 125 thousand other fans in a packed a JFK Stadium .Awesome year

Some of the greatest solos are on that album. His jazz influences are what makes him such a great player.

28 years sober here. I am glad Peter got over his addiction.
Lines On My Face - one of the most profoundly underrated songs he ever did. If you have never listened before, it's truly a musical treat.
I went to his first “final” concert a few years ago. He is STILL very a very impressive musician and engaged with the audience. He loved his fans and we loved him back. See him if you can!
Frampton Comes Alive became so big because it captured the energy and massive sound of Peter in a live setting that the studio versions never did.

I love him. Special, lovely person.
Sopwith camel, humble pie, he went on tour with Bowie, he’s an institution in my mind. He’s stayed humble love him very much. Right on Peter!
Peter’s father was David Jones aka Bowie music teacher.
Sopwith Camel was a San Francisco. Frampton's Camel was another thing.
Such a lovely guy.
Thanks for the memories Peter...love your music!
