Wir lagen vor Madagaskar - German 20th century Sailors Song

Wir lagen vor Madagaskar is a sailing song composed in 1934 by Just Scheu. It tells the events of the Second Russian Pacific Squadron under Admiral Zinovi Rozhestvensky in which the Squadron proved unlucky then it ran out of clean drinking water and then ran aground of Madagascar. The meaning of the song is debatable however.
