- Raw and unedited, I'm harvesting birch bark for crafts, and split firewood for winter heat. It's where I'm and what I'm doing, there's nothing else (I even forgot I was filming).

I genuinely enjoy chopping firewood. I can do it for hours. It just feels good and brings a good soreness and tired that clears the mind. What do you do with those bark skins? Thanks for sharing!
Yeah it's even better in the winter. As the saying goes, 'firewood heats you twice".
I use the inner bark for tea.
I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do with the outer bark, I have been kicking around the idea of using it as shingles or siding for an out building (maybe an outdoor kitchen). We'll see, it's been a while since I took the time to collect it.
In the past I used it for crafts (baskets and such).

@@uglyapple I've heard of people that used the outer bark for knife sheaths, but I wouldn't be able to tell how thwy do it.

The bark releases and separates quite nicely if you do it at the right time and under the right condition.

If you get it at the right time, it peels nicely. I got lucky this year, timing was just right.
