I have great respect from seeing your stash of firewood. I would have long since gone to a hydraulic wood splitter if I used wood as my main source heat. I helped a friend that had one and it made a world of difference in work time.👍

You left a ton out. The de Bored, Stroked 590/620 is right in the firing line and will hold its own with a Stihl 036/361 at 59cc with both having an internal clutch. (Husky: 262xp, 357/9 but no internal clutch, a 365 has a big bore but next level 36mm stroke so no “other” internal clutch on the market is like a Husky unless you squint at a Echo hard enough to see it…(359 vs 620p) If a log sits back and pinches yer bar, yes it’s common it’s easier to get your powerhead away from the widow maker/barber chair. The 620 is a ported 590 cus the chassis, bore and stroke is exactly the same. It’s a great plug and play saw because parts for its performance twin make things like carbs and coils more common. The 620 has a Ported jug and slightly different piston with dual rings. 2 rings on an chainsaw piston is a rabbit hole; drag vs holds questionable compression… wipes the cylinder walls… solid Aluminum handle and solid metal clutch cover that makes a heat sink. Yes the dogs are small and don’t bite otherwise it’s a jugged saw so you can remove the base gasket if you ever take a notion to tune your saw. Clamshells can’t do that because of the bearing caps limiting jug swapping. It is the “Rancher” of the 55 Series, whereas the 590 is just the standard: spur gear blah blah. I’m a pro saw user so I won’t even use a spur drive cuz we’ll throw chains. The 620 is the same as the 590 except for the jug, piston, Aluminum handle with Full wrap option, oooh ahhh factor you can’t stump with… the clutch cover, rim drive, unlimited coil and the carb has something in it that makes it more tunable. Really the Echo is a Stroked, de Bored, de tuned, Husqvarna “360”… but it’s not. The “Husky 460” Rancher, is a big bored 355 and they’re Clamshells so you can’t tune them to the same level as a Jugged saw. Follow the rabbit trails on the internet for Dyno Joe and his Stihl 44/46 Big Bore mods. Otherwise there are no available oem and bolt on for this saw. Same as the 36 Stihl. You have to make your own. You can not beat this saw at its price point. There is no better option for a big 58.9/60cc saw you need right now, on the market. If you don’t have a dealer just got to Home Depot. I’d take it over a 455/460 Rancher any day. Stroker will pull a 28” plus bar. Not like a Big Stihl or Husky but more common and wayyy cheaper

I got my 590 on eBay w 24" bar for $399 US. Love it. Do the muffler mods, wakes it up quite a bit. Definitely took a few tanks to get good and broke in.

There are a LOT more upgrades to the 620 over the 590 than what you listed. The 590 has a single ring piston, the 620 has two. The 620 has a better coil and larger carburetor. The 620 has captive bar nuts. The 620 has a rim sprocket, the 590 has a spur sprocket. I can't think of anything else right now but I do know that both saws seem to bat way above their pay grade.

Get yourself a bottle of all natural, unfiltered, organic, unpasteurized, non carbonated cider (alcoholic or sweet), open the bottle (take a small sample for yourself to enjoy, if you want), cover the mouth of the bottle with a cloth (to keep bugs and dust out), then just let mother nature take over. Physics tells us that if you put the piece you're splitting as low as possible, you'll be able to hit it with more power. Put 1 of those flat edge slabs under it.

There is a good vibe here. Don’t change! I remember an old woodsman who used to drink in a pub in Battle, UK. He was probably 70-80, 30 years ago. He was in quiet awe of his predecessors who could lop the limbs from an oak, so that later a buyer would not see any side branch nodes, but only a pristine oak, straight and unblemished for the first 15 foot. Then they milled it. We need to relearn what you know. You are now cutting edge.

Interesting .... I am caught up in the crazy goings on in the world sitting here. When I step foot on our new homestead where theres nothing but honest hard work waiting for me. All my woes about the world go away . Walking in another mans shoes ? Ive got to say , chopping wood with open toe shoes makes my cringe a little. But ... those are your shoes .

I found it very interesting . Birch is tough to split anyhow with that tight bark . Great tip . I didnt know about the tea . Birch bark has always fascinated me . But I didnt know how to harvest off a live tree so I didnt collect it for fear of killing the tree . I did however harvest from a dead tree and made a basket for a school project .

Is this a machine I can run in the city limits for a log or two at a time? Is it too loud for a residential neighborhood...? In your opinion.

I clicked on this video by accident. I've been thinking a lot recently about the direction we're headed as people, and how it feels different than it did 20 years ago. Conversation has become almost impossible, as everything has been politicized and polarized. Even the language has changed. Many words mean something completely different and all the new terms. Words to describe things I don't care to be involved with but am told I must use this language anyway, and not to question it. We've shifted, as a society. As a species. It doesn't feel like we're progressing any more and our values have drastically changed. Sorry for the long ramble but so much of what you said resonated with me.
