I love the gate house and the couple, the quality of work they did and the colors they chose. I would add a lovely little handrail on either side of the approach to the front door and broadening out to either side, like a gesture of welcome, perhaps inspired by something at the 'academic research center' full of house parts. A few guests over for wine on a cold winter night, and a slip while leaving in the dark, could spell real injury.

I fell in love with this house when you first showed it! Although I know it took a lot of tears, hard work, frustration, but it is adorable !! Just wow, one of the most beautiful and beautifully restored little houses I have ever seen and to do all that when you are not a spring chicken, what an incredible couple.
This is a restoration that's truly touched a cord; this is utterly charming. The beauty of thought, skill, admirable talent & vision - - just inspiring.
The window she made looks fantastic, but I would have wanted to use coloured glass. Perhaps the planning committee didn't allow it. Having said that, it look stunning and I don't know if I love the outside more or the inside. Them having painted the house on the outside so beautifully, I go back on the stained glass windows, as they would only distract from the many details. I've looked up the big house and according to an article I found the fire in 1979 was classed as having happened under suspicious circumstances, after a planning permisson was declined. What a shame.
