tks u stan for helping us garage mechanics i have a 2005 pt with p0032 and p0038 stalls and stop starts up ok then stalls what is the diff with the number i am going to replace both of these numbers thks again for your reply
Hello Stan, I have an 05 pt .cruiser that I just bought, it had a bad battery when I bought it, and the only trouble light that was on is the abs light, so I changed the battery and since I did that it started flashing no bus on the odometer, also the check engine light, brake light, the solid red light is on in the middle, I believe its the security but not flashing, also the speedometer and tach aren't working, etc. OK, I've tried checking all fuses under hood, a soft reset, I tried resetting the cluster but it goes right back to the same thing after it runs thru the checks, do you think it needs a hard reset? or do you have any other ideas, but keep in mind I did not have this problem b4 I changed the battery, just the abs light was on!..Thank in advNe!
It could possibly be the input output sensor or the fluid pump if you have P 700 code you’ll need to have the transmission module scanned if that vehicle has one and it should be able to point you in the direction.
I don't know if you're going to see this, but I hope so!! I've done the key dance, and fuse check. Ultimately found that my error codes indicate cluster failure. My hope is to do this myself however, I can't find a good answer to the only remaining question. Where is the mileage stored in a 2008 PT Cruiser? Is it in the cluster itself, or in the vehicle's computer module? Am I going to end up with incorrect mileage by repairing with a used cluster? Or will the car's computer transfer the info to the used cluster?
In order to get the mileage to go in the used or new cluster you have to send it off to get programmed in there but the computer will always have the correct mileage and if you have a scan tool you will be able to read that but the scan tool has to be able to read that. Normally the dealerships can program a new cluster to read the correct mileage.
@@StansAuto83 can you tell me what I might expect to pay for that programming (after I install the cluster) at the dealership? I'd like to know what I'm in for...really appreciate your response; thanks so much!
We has the same issue on my friends ‘04 Cruiser… replaced the cluster unit with a donor one and that fixed it Problem is that the car now shows the donor clusters’ vehicles mileage and not the cars actual mileage 😅
Hey Stan! I was watching that when the cluster starts to make the count down. It initially shows after this number (382964) My doubt is, what does that number represent? First I thought it was the mileage but it differs from the one shown at end of the reset (168782) Regards!

I took it apart and checked all the bulbs and checked the fuses put it back in and now none of the lights work on the instrument cluster? Any suggestions. Ya if you can take it apart to see if it Corroded if it is you can clean it up in reapply contact grease sometimes it fixes it and that could save you some money.
@@StansAuto83 I tried it, and it unfortunately did not work..🤷🏼♂️ I have now also changed the 10A fuse for the “cluster” but that did not work either. It looks like I need a new cluster..😳
@zeejimi4044 ya I would say so. There not to bad to change out. But unless you have the replacement cluster updated with the mileage on the vehicle you’ll have a mileage discrepancy and the only way to get the true mileage. You’ll have to scan the ECU.
The switch that controls the brightness of the lights when you turn that you know to dim them or brighten them that does nothing or when you click it to turn on the dome light manually and turn it off does the dome light also turn on and off if that’s not working, it could be the switch that controls. The instrument cluster lights so you would need to get, a whole new one, which I believe it’s all integrated in the turn signals and the headlight switch

To fix the lights that are out on the cluster you’ll need to remove the cluster then remove the mini bulbs and replace those if the whole cluster doesn’t light up then that would be your switch that is located on the same switch that turns the headlights on where you can turn the lights brighter or dimmer or turn on your dome light

The cause of code P0440 can be a loose gas cap which is the very common reason. P0440 is also set if any component within the fuel vapor system is leaking as in a gas cap vent, vent valve, carbon canister, fuel filler neck, or any of the many fuel vapor recovery components.
My 2007 PT was in storage with a flat battery. on charging the battery and subsequent starting of the car the display is now in a foreign language. How do I change this?
If you can get into settings and find the language settings change it there. Or you will need to plug it up to a computer system to get in the ECU to change the language
Ok try this first. Remove the positive and negative cable from the battery. Touch them together for 30 seconds. Then set them aside for 5 minutes. Clean the cables if needed nd the battery. If the code comes back. The PCM may be failing. You need to then take it to the dealership and have the do a diagnosis. Some time if that’s the issue an update to the pcm or a reprogramming will fix it. But try the battery cable first. What it does is drains the power from the PCM. The the 5 minute wait resets the PCM. Hope this helps.

@@StansAuto83 hey thanks for replying
Your welcome
My 08 PT cluster blinks 5 times then goes black. The gauges still function properly. What i have discovered is it turns off my tail lights. Headlights and brake lights work just fine but no tail lights. Tried the reset but still occurs. Any help will be appreciated! Thank you!
I would check grounds and also check the wires there may be a short.
Pt cruiser p1490 any help over here? :)
It’s the cooling fan. The fan motor may lost low or high side or both or the relay (s) are blown.
@@StansAuto83 thx stan for the fast answer did changed the relays both of them now the high speed fan kicks in and doesnt turn off till i shut down the car
Need fix for code 0440 for 2004 pt cruiser
The cause of code P0440 can be a loose gas cap which is the very common reason. P0440 is also set if any component within the fuel vapor system is leaking as in a gas cap vent, vent valve, carbon canister, fuel filler neck, or any of the many fuel vapor recovery components.
How do u know that yr cruiser has a lectrical promblem
Normally the lights will short out. Fuses will blow left and right. But most times it’s bad grounds.
My 2007 PT was in storage with a flat battery. on charging the battery and subsequent starting of the car the display is now in a foreign language. How do I change this?
I never heard of that. I did not even know this could happen. I will see what I can find out.
If you can get into settings and find the language settings change it there. Or you will need to plug it up to a computer system to get in the ECU to change the language
Mine foesn't have the button
That is odd no trip button?
My 2005 pt crusier has P 1604 code how can I fixed
Ok try this first. Remove the positive and negative cable from the battery. Touch them together for 30 seconds. Then set them aside for 5 minutes. Clean the cables if needed nd the battery. If the code comes back. The PCM may be failing. You need to then take it to the dealership and have the do a diagnosis. Some time if that’s the issue an update to the pcm or a reprogramming will fix it. But try the battery cable first. What it does is drains the power from the PCM. The the 5 minute wait resets the PCM. Hope this helps.
Thank you

Hi can someone help me ?? I have a 2002 Chrysler pt cruiser dream &only dashboard light won't light up or glow when I turn my lights on the dash light fuel & temp dashboard circle won't light up so what can I do ??
Lisa Perryman check the fuse for the instrument cluster.
PT Cruiser...What Year?
The one in the video a 2002 the one with the issue is a 2007
What's that got to do with the gages getting stuck? You started to tell us how to get them unstuck then u started talking about something else.
p1604 how fixed?
Does the starter turn over? When you turn the key? Or does it do nothing?
That wont mess with the miles and the airbag/seat belt will go off
No it won’t rest the odometer or reset any errors with an airbag light. You’ll need a scan tool that does airbags to see what the airbag light is on for.
Okay thank you i think its my seat belt bc when a passenger buckles in it goes away its a 2007 touring
Ok.
The 2007 models can be a headache! I have one now I am working on for the famous no start!
Im having some problems with my 2004 pt cruiser. Dought I had a starter and replaced it. Ok still having the same problem.I have power all over the car but won't turn over nothing at all .anyone with this problem
+gary rossy does your PT have a chip key (security system)?
DODGE NEON RACING no sir.
DODGE NEON RACING got rid of it champ I appreciate your response
gary rossy Check your IOD fuse under hood. It'll have a black clip over it,you'll need a very small screwdriver to pop it out. I had this problem and replaced inexpensive fuse and radio door locks and overhead light works now.

My speedometer shows 5 mph faster than actual speed. Inaccurate speedometer.
That could be the input and output sensors on the transmission
Well it didn't work for my '06 PT, neither did the rapid pressing of the accelerator on another youtube vid.
That odd it should.
Little lic. Of engine
This way is no good for my pt cruiser it doesn't work 👎
