Although the N64 version is on a measley 32mb cartridge it features more than 500 lines of dialogue using Factor 5 compression technology, it has more levels and multiplayer.
The PS1 version has the FMVs but much less dialogue even though it's on a disc. The Matrix stuntman was hired to serve as mocap for the 300 animations . Both games were developed according to its console's strength's

Did you know that the PS1 version was gonna have a remaster for PS2 (Same game updated graohics and audio) They started development of this and actually worked on it but they decided to change this remaster into Agent Under Fire.
I knew a developer who told ne it would of been the exact same game just updated so same layout levels ETC and some of the textures made it to Agent Under Fire this is alao why the soundtrack is mostly the same but updated.

After playing both games back to back last year, i think the N64 is the better game by a lot, better controls, the game feels more complete with longer levels, the ps1 version has the plus of having FMV taken directly from the movie but the levels are really short, you can take less than five minutes to finish in some of them, areas are smaller and doesn't use the Dual Shock for a better control, you have to stick with the d-pad and should buttons to aim and move, keep in mind that the ps1 version came out a year after the original Medal of Honor and that game fully use the DualShock (even having an option to use a control scheme similar to what is used today making it easier to replay now days aside the graphics)

PS1 version is just the diet version of the N64 version.
The N64 version felt more interactive and had better cinematics. Also The Ski level was fun, you felt like you were being chased by terrorists from the movie. Eliminating Davidov felt more true than the PS1 version, You had a boss fight in a small garage where in the N64 version, you were actually someone at the right location true to the movie aswell as the many ways to assassinate him as he is walking through the dark forrest. ALsoo the N64 version had way better non-earrapy music and sound effects. Yeah the N64 version is the clear winner.

  • @Alte.Kameraden

Could never really stomach the flickering and deforming of the 3D models on the PS1. It was honestly it's biggest flaw in how it handled rendering. N64 was always a far far more smooth platform to play on. It makes the games pretty uncomparable in my opinion. I noticed it with a lot of games personally. Like Army Men Sarge's Heroes, and Battle Tanx series both having the same comparison. PS1 would often have more audio, sometimes better textures, and sometimes even better resolution. But the playability between them was almost always on the N64's side of the court. Difference was often night/day in my opinion.
A privilege I guess for owning both consoles at the time, was seeing the difference in real time. I still prefer the N64 version of Resident Evil 2 for the same reasons. Sure lower resolution, worse audio. But who cares, it was far more fun playing it on the N64 than the Playstation. It was one of the few games I owned on both systems, mostly because I was super happy that a N64 version came out and just had to own it. It's a noticeable issue between Harvest Moon 64 and Harvest Moon Back to Nature on the PS1. Me and my cousins always argued which game was better. N64 obviously had worse textures, but my god I could never get over the janky graphics on Back to Nature. Even the PSP Port still had them which burned my eyes.

For what i saw in the video, and as an all time nintendo fan, it hurts me a lot to admit that the playstation game looks better. The graphics, textures and models look better, framerates are a little more stable, the music and the gameplay, it looks funnier to play. I haven't played it, but i read some comments about controls on ps1, that you have to play using the digital input because analog is not available, and I think that is bad for the ps1 version. On the other hand, the n64 version looks cleaner, framerates are nearer to 30, but it also drops below 15 on combat, the models of the characters are horrible and it have an almost 10 second loading time, which is absurd for a cartridge game. All I can think about it is it have to decompress data to the ram, but nintendo always told us that n64 have no loading times so I feel betrayed. But it also makes me want to play both.

N64 may have better models but the textures are so boring, they have no character at all.
0:23 Look at the main hall in the first level, how the PS1 version has got peculiar designs on all platforms (the floor, the windows, the yellow parts of the wall above the lights).
    Then, at 0:28...squares and rectangles.
Not to mention the music pales in comparison with the PS1.
Granted I haven't played the N64 version so I'll give you that it might be more fun to play, I couldn't tell you that, but it feels like there's no soul to it at all. Atmosphere is important.
