Excellent video. You covered all aspects and after having gone through pains of removing it the part where you raised the engine just enough for clearance to remove the mount is exactly what I needed to see to do the installation of the new mount. As you know there’s not much space under there.👍🏼
Oh Wow. Yup gonna let someone else fix this one. Amazing video. Concise, no backgound noise, did the job with nicely marked tool sizes, and not a foul word. Very very well done.
Thanks. This was an excellent video for me, as I am planing to replace the transaxle. You appear to be lucky and only having to use a slide puller to get the transaxle free. Must be limited rusting opportunities in Nevada. What really made this video for me was I should be changing the motor mount along with the transaxle. Ordered the part today, so hope it makes it to me at the same time as the transaxle. Will try the slide puller, but keeping my grinder handy just in case I need to chop the transaxle before beating out the bearing.
VERY VERY BIG THANK YOU!!! My friend and I have been fighting the same system on a Lexus ES300 1999. Exactly the same!! We had worked on it for two morning trying to figure out what to do. AGAIN THANK YOU! will check your links for a possible purchase!
Thank You Angel for this video and the CV axle video. You showed me how it should be to change one. unfortunately on my 2000 es300 the right side axle bearing was badly rusted into the mid carrier bearing housing. I had to cut the axle and remove the motor mount from the engine. Hitting the cut axle with a sledge hammer would not dislodge the bearing from the housing. I had to put it on a hydraulic press to separate it . Oh and I had to grind away part of the backside of the cv coupling housing to get at the lower right mount bolt took forever to do that, your video kept me encouraged that it could be done. many thanks
Hello Artice, Dealing with rust is a headache!! What you did is exactly what I would have done too. You did not give up and that's good. I'm happy for you and that this video made you keep on going to finish what you started. Have a nice day. Please like and subscribe.
Hey Angel, again Many Thanks. unfortunately now the left boot has torn but that will be much easier to change. again I have your video for a guide. I'm taking a rest from being under the car for a while but I'll get it done before winter weather comes back to the eastern region
Thank you so much for doing this. I am stuck right now on the carrier bearing, had to remove the J pipe for the exhaust after the pre-cats already and spent about 5 hrs trying to get the pass side axle by prying and even removed the 4 motor mount bolts attached to engine block. I had to cut right lower motor mount 14mm bolt with dremel thinking it would then slide out only to find out the mount bracket has dowel pins preventing it from sliding out after all 4 bolts are removed. I see now I need to get a puller set and start slide hammering away. One guy i watched took a longer 12mm bolt that went through the mount and tightened really tight to break the bearing race. Another guy took a chain and tied up behind CV inner joint, stood vertically a floor jack against a wood 4x4 against the wheel hub and attached other end to jack saddle and started jacking away, it eventually made a loud POP! and came out. Finally another guy took an angle grinder to the intermediate shaft and cut it and took the entire mount bracket and remaining outer axle off after removing 4 bolts on the block. I'll try slide hammer method first then do the rest that I found after researching. Thanks for the video!
so the slide hammer didn't work. I can't get enough force with the 10lb slide. I'm going to harbor freight and buying a 4.5" angle grinder and cutting the shaft off
ended up cutting the axle shaft with a 4.5" angle grinder to be able to take it off with the mount and then smacked it out with a 4lb sledge hammer. A lot easier if you had a really corroded bearing outer housing like mine.
Ended up Cutting mine with a saws all i couldn't figure out how to use an angle grinder and get deep enough though...i guess you could use a v pattern and cut out progressively larger chunks of metal? I think there's a thread on sienna chat about it...
Great work man. I just did this repair on my 97 camry and the axle would not come out of the mount. Had to remove the axle and mount together then hammer the axle out after. About a 4 hour job for just the passenger side axle and mount.
Great video. Currently trying to replace axle with broken boot and noticed the rear bushing was pretty much on it's way out. Your video is a great, clear guide on how to do this. Now all I have to do is take out the mount with the axle still through it and find a shop to press the new bushing for me.
Next time you run into a torn CV boot and don't have the part on hand to replace it at the moment, get a roll of seranwrap, (plastic food wrap), and wind it a dozen times with that. That should buy you enough time to get the part in but not tear up your joint for lack of grease. That said, the whole half shaft is only $50 or so, new sealed boots and all. It's almost not worth rebooting. Nice video, I'm looking to buy a Sienna of this age so I'm watching what people are repairing on them. Thanks for posting.
Hats off for the huge effort and patience just to remove everything. I think it was just a bad design how they would make a hole in the mounting bracket just so the front axle could pass through!!! Also you could see why the bushing would fail overtime as you could see how much load it was taking from the engine when you lowered the engine jack.
Bro your a great mech. Thanks for all you do. Keep up the vids. You're the only one on YT with this style. Hope the kids understand why you gotta work! Lol.
+Miguel Torres Thank you Miguel. I really do appreciate all your comments. I really do try to provide my family. It's an honest hard working living but I am happy. Have a nice day and keep on watching.
This is some pretty solid work there Angel! That's A-Class skill right there. I had helped my dad remove and reinstall his on a hot and humid day, wheeeww was it much a pain in the back. Wish I had seen this video before but I'm not sure I found it. Now I see that you had had it posted a while ago and your name is also Angel, except you're like an all-pro mechanic lol. Nice video man, I'm subbed.
I watched this video so many times. I couldn't have finished this job without this video. Especially, 3:43 and 8:52 were really useful. Thank you very much! Did you end up uploading CV boot replacement video?
that's great Ken you got the repair done. proud of you man and it feels good that the video really helped. The CV boot will need to be replaced but i don't know when i will do it.
Hey brother! I really appreciate you doing this video! It's been very helpful! I have a question, is there a mark to align the motor mount properly when pressed in?
Hi Angel, another great video making it simple to replace the rear or difficult motor mount. I have a 2001 ES300, but its passenger side axle has a tapered inboard joint covering making it almost impossible to use the clamps for slide hammer. I've tried to replace the axle 3 times at different times and also lubricated the bearing housing with a penetrating fluid but no success. Any suggestions... thanks!
Nice job and perfect camera positioning. If you put words “Oops my bad ! ” or “Don’t worry be happy !” when the oil drained out on the floor, that would of been “hilarious” for the video since you didn’t care (I know this since you put the drain tub over the oil, lol).
hi there ,when press the new bushing how did you allign the bushing to the housing and I dont know the position because the old one rubber broken just the same in your video. Thanks
just an advice.. if you dont want transmission fluid leaking just jack the side which axle you are working on. Basically tilting the transmission and let the fluid go somewhere..
yes, but think the vehicle is set on stands, this balances the loads, only jack one side up... and I think other problems, maybe set the stands slightly higher on the work side.
Hi Angel, when pulling the axle from the mount did you experience a slight front to back play in the carrier bearing on the axle shaft? Not sure if that slight play is normal or there should be no play at all in the bearing movement
I have to do this on my van, though mine isn't nearly as bad as yours! How did you align the mount bushing? It looks like the hole is not in the center of the bushing.
I came here to see if the position of the bushing was addressed. It can go into the bracket many ways but only one position is correct. Kind of hard to tell how is was originally when the old one is so worn it falls apart . I'll keep looking for a video that addresses this.
Fix It Angel, where did you get the axler puller? All the kits that they sell have small jaw pullers. The one you use is much larger. I could not get the axle out and had to put it all together. I've tried looking for a large jaw puller but haven't found one yet.
Looking for recommendation! I need a motor mount for my Avalon with 1MZ-FE. I want a good one but I do not want to purchase from the dealer. Having a hard time getting good historical information on aftermarket brands. Do you have an opinion on Anchor, DEA and Westar motor mounts?
Is there a shield on the driver side of the motor mount bushing? I saw the shield on the top driver side of the motor mount. I was wondering if there was a circular one covering the bushing which is also supposed to protect the bushing from heat.
I am about to undertake this on my 97 Camry. It looks like you have more room under the Sienna to get that mount out if there. I haven't gotten all the way down there yet, but the procedure should be quite similar right?
Thanks for the video! I have a 2006 Sienna and it just started vibrating rapidly whenever I drive up a hill or have to go over 2k rpms. Do you think its the Rear Motor Mount? I just replaced the torque strut engine mount. Thanks again.
Did you figure out the cause? For my 05 sienna it would vibrate "hard" above like 40 when giving it gas. Took it to shop, guy there shook the CV axles and said "whoa those are loose!" I replaced my passenger CV axle and it went away, phew :)
Love your videos and common sense approach. Please keep your kids involved as in the past. --- I have a 2005 sienna XLE and both door motors on the sides do not work. Any ideas on how to fix them?? I’m trying to rebuild this clean Sienna that has a lot of miles. Also I hate the run flat tires. Any ideas on them??? --. Loved your Ferris wheel ride videos and family.
well, I need to do this too. Looks like a lot of work. Great video, love the detail, including the socket sizes, etc. Got a kick out of the kids dropping in to "help". My biggest fear is putting the CV back in. what were you doing with the rag? what was the purpose of that? And waht about the other end of the CV....do you have a CV video fo the Sienna? Thanks again.
I was also wondering about the need for the rag, maybe to keep the clip from falling down and help push one side into the groover while squeezing the ends together?
do you have any video on changing lower ball joint?easy way? because when I'm driving and stopping this squeaky noise is loud ...right side can you help...thx
I was quoted $1,000 at a West suburban Toyota dealership. I'm not sure if it was just a bushing for the entire housing including the bushing. 8 hours of Labor plus parts. How did you know which way to orient the bushing inside the housing?
What year sienna is this vid? For my 05 sienna it would vibrate "hard" above like 40 when giving it gas. Took it to shop, guy there shook the CV axles and said "whoa those are loose!" I replaced my passenger CV axle [had to cut it off] and it went away, phew :)
Do you know of an easy way to replace the valve cover gasket on the rear cylinders? I was wondering about pulling all the engine stabilizer/shock and motor mount. Then the hole engine / tranny should be able to swing way forward with the wiper blades and box removed. Can't find anyway to get to the intake manifold bolts with the way it is and if I could do it the other way I should be able to unbolt the cover without taking of the intake plenum. I'm sure you've done that job before. Thanks.
1MZ-FE: For the 1MZ-FE engine which is in the Camry Solara. How do you diagnose and/or know when the front motor mount has failed? How do you diagnose and/or know when the front shock has failed?
Hello, For motor mount diagnosis. chock wheels, front and back tires for safety. make sure emergency brake is engaged. press brake pedal with left foot while putting it on reverse. press gas pedal with right foot lightly. switching from reverse to drive. DO NOT LET GO ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. have someone stay on the side of the engine for safety. if they see the engine move excessively, replace all of the motor mounts. do not replace just one mount. or it will wear prematurely. For shocks, I only replace it if there is fluid seeping out of it. Thank you
Hi Angel, I just wanna make sure this is in fact what is wrong with my Sienna. It's a 98 and when you have it in reverse and you hit the gas the back left of the engine lifts up almost to the firewall. Is that the motor mount that needs replacing, the one your replacing? When I say back left I mean if your standing in front of the engine looking at it.
Excellent video. You covered all aspects and after having gone through pains of removing it the part where you raised the engine just enough for clearance to remove the mount is exactly what I needed to see to do the installation of the new mount. As you know there’s not much space under there.👍🏼

I just completed this repair on my Sienna, this video was exactly what I needed to get the job done and save about $450. Thank you
But aside from my last comment about the size of the project this is an excellent video!! Thanks! Im giving it a go

I hammered it with a sledge on the dirt and it came out (sienna in my case), FWIW...
Awesome videos. Straight to the fix, and no need to blah...blah.... blah.
Dude! You rock! This made my motor mount replacement so much easier. I can't thank you enough.
Thank you so much for doing this. Thanks a lot for your video. Very clear information on how to do the job.
thank you brother this will help me today. I am about to take on this job
Gracias, eso nos da idea de el trabajo que se tiene que realizar para solo cambiar el aislador o insulater.
Grandioso.
Thumbs up for the Guam and Philippine flag...Nice work!
Since the rubber bushing falling apart, how do you know the bushing orientation?
Super good video man I wish more were like this !!
Thank you for the comment

Would loosening sway bar linkage help with removing mount
Hi Angel, when pulling the axle from the mount did you experience a slight front to back play in the carrier bearing on the axle shaft? Not sure if that slight play is normal or there should be no play at all in the bearing movement
Hi Tony, that’s normal. Don’t worry about. If it leaks from the axle seal. Then the seal will need to be changed. Stay safe and stay well.
I have to do this on my van, though mine isn't nearly as bad as yours! How did you align the mount bushing? It looks like the hole is not in the center of the bushing.
Disculpe la pregunta tengo un 1987 toyota mr2 que le tiembla el motor me podria usted dar su diagnostico gracias

Yes I was wondering about orientation also.

B Honjiyo hi, yes it could be because of a worn rear mount.
Thanks, are you from Hawaii, I saw you flashed the shaka sign. 😁

Very useful. Thank you.
Great Vid! Looking forward on your next video when you change your van's timing belt. Tnx!
great video, thanks... but you don't torque anything going back together? how do you know if it's on tight?
hey bro, do you think a 12 ton can press that? that's all I have access to. thanks!

Hello Angel , putting the Jack under the Oil pan will not damage the Oil pan ?
Should we not put the jack under the Corners of the Oil pan instead ?
Can you make a video on the quick fix with just a pair on vise grips? Thanks!
Where and, what type of puller do you have ..ive gone to different parts stores and c ant find one
Thank you so much, for this wonderful tutorial! Now I know I would never want to attempt this at home.
Ángel estás perro para la mecánica , exelente video , 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
well, I need to do this too.
Thanks for your informative sharing
Excellent Video !!!...........
That's help me a lot.
Thanks.
Amazing as always! Angel, how did you know the orientation of the mounting hole on the bushing?
ayos to si kababayan ang galing!
Excellent work and video log!
hi,how much you charge to replace rear moto mount bushing for 2001 toyota sienna ?
thank you for your video it looks so easy
Super nice video. Awesome job. !!!
EXCELLENT VIDEO!
I was quoted $1,000 at a West suburban Toyota dealership. I'm not sure if it was just a bushing for the entire housing including the bushing. 8 hours of Labor plus parts.
How did you know which way to orient the bushing inside the housing?
Good video this work is even for toyoya sienna 2004
Pls the 14bolt on the bushing housing is use for what?
What year sienna is this vid? For my 05 sienna it would vibrate "hard" above like 40 when giving it gas. Took it to shop, guy there shook the CV axles and said "whoa those are loose!" I replaced my passenger CV axle [had to cut it off] and it went away, phew :)
It’s in the video description
Do you know of an easy way to replace the valve cover gasket on the rear cylinders? I was wondering about pulling all the engine stabilizer/shock and motor mount. Then the hole engine / tranny should be able to swing way forward with the wiper blades and box removed. Can't find anyway to get to the intake manifold bolts with the way it is and if I could do it the other way I should be able to unbolt the cover without taking of the intake plenum. You will need to remove the cowl. Please watch this. th-cam.com/video/FucNX9D8B9I/w-d-xo.html
WONDERFUL BRO. YOU MADE THIS VERY NICE VIDEO PRESENTATION . I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU FOR KIND OF VIDEO UPLOAD. THANKS ALOTS
Thanks for your video good job 👍
Disculpa una pregunta cómo se cambian las tijeras de una Toyota siena 04 de los dos lados ante mano muchas gracias esque tiene rato los buches de ule
You did all that work and the bushing it should face up. The hole for the bolt is off set should face up .
Muito bom os céus Visio
Thank you
What year sienna does this apply to? I've got a 5pc replacement set for my 2006 2wd LE and I didn't see the rear bushings in the set.
Hi Cory, it’s in the video description
@@FixItAngel I have duralast part# 9591 and no video exists for replacement of that specific bushing. Can't even find diagrams online.
nice vid good lighting,content
Not sure if I'm gonna get an answer but what year is your Sienna in this? Does this apply on 2008 Sienna too?
Hi Angel, I just wanna make sure this is in fact what is wrong with my Sienna. It's a 98 and when you have it in reverse and you hit the gas the back left of the engine lifts up almost to the firewall. Is that the motor mount that needs replacing, the one your replacing? When I say back left I mean if your standing in front of the engine looking at it.
jerome huey hi Jerome, yes it needs to be replaced.
Wow, I'm impressed.
Thank you sooooooooooo much.
Good work
