The Straight Egyptian horse breed looks back on a carefully managed and documented breeding history of about 1,800 years. The origin of this breed is based on the horses of the Nejd desert on the Arabian peninsula. Straight Egyptian horses are very versatile due to their enormous willingness to perform. They are characterized by their gentleness, sensitivity, sturdiness as well as good health combined with longevity.

Ok. But what differentiates them from other Arabians?

The difference is their pedigree, all their ancestor's roots go back to Egypt (El Zahraa or Abbas Pasha etc.) or to horses that came from the desert, like some of the Crabbet horses, and were used as foundation stock in Egypt.

@@The1968Oliver I mean visually. A Clydesdale is visually different from a Shetland pony, and both are different from Arabians. So are there visual markers that point toward one pedigree from the other?

You missed some pretty significant characteristics of the Arab such as very sensitive, high spirited, high energy horses with a tendency to spook and shy more so than other breeds.

Have had a Straight Egyptian Arab mare for 11 years. I've exposed her to everything we've encountered trail riding..... trash, tires, heavy equipment (backhoes, front loaders), trucks with air brakes, snakes, coyotes, dogs, traffic (both cars and motorcycles), firetrucks with sirens, kids with all kinds of toys, air blown advertisements, gunfire....she's bombproof. It's my approach to these things that give her confidence. I'm relaxed, she's relaxed. I don't over react, she doesn't. She trusts me and I trust her. I don't ask anything of her that is foolish or unacceptable.
She is sensitive, intuitive, brave, very intelligent and I respect her. I'm 75, she's 18.

These are no "significant characteristics" of Arabian horses, regardless of their bloodlines. It's a bold statement without any proof and far away from the truth. They are brave, trustful, people oriented and loyal partners to their owners. How many straight Egyptians do you know personally, how many of them acted like you said, which bloodlines they represent? People who do know Arabian horses and live and work with them have a certain name to describe their personality: it's the so-called "in tent disposition". That's because the Bedouins used to share their tents with their best horses. This lovely disposition breds on from generation to generation and is the hallmark of our breed.
Yes, they are sensitive but at the same time smart, eager to learn and easygoing. Friends for life. They will not tolerate brutality and don't suffer fools gladly. Maybe this is the problem here?
