DressurFitÂŪ Challenge 2025 â Day 9 â Shoulder Mobility
It's almost done! Day 9 and a final round of shoulder mobility is waiting for you! In order to be able to straighten our horses, we want to avoid being very crooked ourselves. However, most people have noticeable side-to-side differences in shoulder and thoracic spine mobility due to being right- or left-handed.
If you train both sides equally, you will not improve side differences. The DressurFitÂŪ program therefore provides you with specific corrective exercises that are tailored to your individual test results in order to effectively and permanently compensate for imbalances and movement restrictions. Ok, have a look and see whether you notice any side differences during these exercises. Let's go!
Exercise 1: 90 / 90 with Arm Sweep
On your side, place your upper knee bent as close to the floor as possible. You can press the knee lightly towards the floor with your lower hand. Move your upper arm over to the other side keeping the hand in contact with the floor as much as possible.
Improves shoulder mobility and promotes thoracic spine mobility for an upright posture in the saddle.
Exercise 2: Downward Looking Dog on Forearms
Feet about hip-width apart. Push your shoulders towards your feet and make sure your back is straight.
Relieves shoulder tension, stretches the shoulders and upper body and promotes correct upper body alignment and supple shoulders for an even rein contact.
Exercise 3: Prone Swimmers
Big âswimming-likeâ movements in a prone position.
Strengthens the back and shoulder muscles for an upright posture, better balance and upper body control in the saddle.
Exercise 4: Dynamic Twist
Arm rotations from a plank position.
Strengthens your core and shoulder muscles, stabilizes the shoulder joint and mobilizes your thoracic spine for more stability and correct upper body alignment in the saddle.

Today it's time for the final round of core stability! A strong core is incredibly valuable for riders. It's not about a six-pack or a particularly flat belly. The important muscles are the deep layers that wrap around your torso like a corset, as well as the small muscles along your spine. These deep muscles ensure that you can sit upright and balanced without straining yourself too much - eve...

Letâs continue with the exercises for your shoulder and thoracic spine mobility. Most riders notice rapid progress in this area. Frequent and prolonged sitting, e.g. in the car or at a desk, stops you from using the natural range of motion of your shoulders and thoracic spine. Muscle tension in the shoulder/neck area and poor posture are the result. Next time you're on your horse, try to feel w...

Yes, muscle memory does exist! In order to train effectively and sustainably, it makes sense to repeat exercises and movement sequences frequently over a certain period of time. It's the same with training horses. For this very reason, we have structured the DressurFitÂŪ program at www.aubenhausen-club.com in such a way that three workouts are repeated each week over a period of one month before...

Third day - third exercise block! The exercises in block 3 will improve your shoulder mobility and thoracic spine mobility. Second day - second block! The exercises in block 2 strengthen your core. Well-trained core stability is important for correct alignment, balance and stability in the saddle. I bought a PRE a month ago. Didn't ride horses for 5 years after my Irish cob died. But when I saw this horse I instantly fell in love. I was riding him for like a minute and I was sold. Bought him on the spot. He's a bit older but he's so well behaved and sweet, even my 2 year old daughter can ride him. Wish he was in my life sooner though
