For those struggling with the second chord, the second chord is much easier to play if you play at the 8th fret on the A string 9th fret D string 10th fret G string and 10th fret B string.
that's true although if you want to change the lowest note in the chord (like in the song but not shown here) then Carl's version is easier to use - just leave out the D string entirely
Another way is to use Carl’s method of playing the triad on the highest 3 strings, and use the first finger to play the motif on the lower A and D strings = 2nd of A; 3rd of A; open D; 3rd of A; 2nd of A; and 3rd of A.
What a superb run through, humble, informative and to the point ...and musically pleasing. What's amazing about this video is that Carl is so comfortable in his musical world that he has no problem showing us some really sloppy guitar fingerings. At first glance my guitar ego reared up and said ...'Geez, he's playing so sloppy, maybe he's just ;earming guitar!' Yea right. Then I realised that the point of the video was to show us the chord fingerings of this song, not to show us what an unbelievable guitarist Carl is. It's such a pleasure running through this with him because of his attitude. A look at his other vids reveals a supreme virtuoso who can basically do anything on a guitar. Nice one dude.
You're generally my first port of call for guitar problems. Not only do they sound accurate but you seem to have great taste in your choices of tracks. A great service . Thanks.
Awesome! Perfect fit for my level..(very challenging but accesible), . Perfect format!! Excellent teacher/lesson. Ive got a month to learn it. THANK YOU!!!
yeah, nice tune, I watched the piano tutorial and tried to match that, don't always have a piano around , but always a guitar, this song is serious soul food
For anyone who trying to play this song on guitar i'd recommend try to play under(? my engl isn't perfect) live versions of this song. Particularly good 1972-09-22 gig. Just superb! Thank you for lesson. I'll go and Jam the hell out of this tune!
