Paragon R3’s or R5’s are a good value. Don’t worry about the brake light warning. Also, as long as you keep the engine stock you shouldn’t have issues with engine temps. I just posted my last track day video on my channel in 90+ degree weather and no issues with temps for me. Hopefully you go out to more events, I’m happy you have completed your first event safely!!!!

Hey man great meeting you there. I had the other Boost Blue, we talked Sunday morning.
Regarding the SCCA yearly membership, it renews one year from whenever you sign up and does not go by calendar year. Also, the Work 2 Get 1 free day doesn't have to be used the next weekend. They're pretty lax about it and you can use it whenever, and as far as I know it doesn't expire and can be transferred to friends/family. They have your registration history to look at it anyway.
For the poor point bys from that GTI, I would definitely bring that up to your instructor, classroom instructor, or the event coordinators on the day of next time. With novice, they may be more cautious especially if the instructor is more nervous and it being your first ever track day. It generally is a lot better in intermediate in my experience, having both driven and observed both while flagging.
Another thing you can do is pit in if it keeps happening, indicate with your hands that you're searching for a gap, and you'll be sent back out.

The center caps melting off is like a rite of passage haha. Made the same mistake my first track day 2 years ago. Glad to see you decide on SRF, definitely utilize that FCPEuro lifetime replacement policy to keep costs down for you.
You and that Camaro were killing it in novice, and I truly did see insane progression from Saturday to Sunday. I am planning to drive Main or Dominion as of right now, broken leg healing dependent. If not, I definitely will be flagging and collecting some more days for next season.

It was nice meeting you man. I did raise the issue to my instructor as well as during the class and it seemed to have improved in the later sessions, which was a nice bonus at the end.
Best of luck with your injury. Thanks for watching!

There is no better day than a track day thats for sure. Do change the fluid though. and specially if you think there was any chance that you boiled the fluid already, once it boils its not good. Id do SRF just because you can keep it in the car for a year, other fluids they rec you change every 6 months. Stock pads probably fine on some tracks and some drivers but good to upgrade, at least the fronts. Don't get super annoyed about point bys, I get it I wanted to be there and get the best times and pass people but at the end of the day everyone is there to have fun. It really depends on who is there, sometimes you think intermediate or advanced will be better with pointbys but they can not be. I have had really good novice group with everyone doing point bys and then intermediate where a couple people never gave point bys, I just pull in the pit and ask for space. Oh also tape your wheel weights or they might also fall off and that is way more annoying than the caps cuz you have to get wheels rebalanced.

Good point about the wheel weights. I will do that for the next track day. Appreciate your advice!

Great content, Tin! Cheers 🍻 Just curious, have you done any research on purchasing safety equipment for track days? IE, 4 or 6 point harness, a HANS device, harness bar for the FL5 etc.

Hey Scott. Thanks for watching! I've done some research into the safety equipment. Planning on getting a HANS device soon as well as a cage and harness in the future.
