Very good video Sir!!! I saw alot of videos about to find the sweet spot most of them were for the S54 but this is by far the best one! Keep the good work up!
I looked into the BMW work paper for the S62 and the max travel for the camshafts are 32,9 Deg but BMW says that the Vanossystem dosen t use the hole range of the 32,9 Deg
@stevenpower3780 Correct. I noticed that also. One reason to get this so called sweet spot correct because otherwise if timed wrong theres nothing stopping it hitting the stops if it isnt aware the gear was timed wrong. The one I repaired had driven over 260,000 miles but it was fast as hell after repair.
basicly is the most "negligible think" there is few videos how to do it but somebody should point on one basic think: push the vanos shaft in to the vanos unit ant than slide in to vanos hub to ours favorite sweet spot. I know you know that , but also there is some video with bend valves :D. Whats intrest me the most is proper angel rotation vanos hub before vanos slide in (little hole should point up) bessian and bmw has diffrences - maybe its only for help witch special tools and basicly has no effect on timming from my point of wiev.
I have the n62b44, I have took valve covers off and the exentric shaft sensors look messed up but I also bought a timing tool and on the bank 1 it’s not sitting right so what should I do next?

Thank you for those nice comments buddy 🙂 The S54 is very similar so these principles apply too for that engine. Glad you liked it.

Make sure Vanos is locking. If it locks then it may need a new chain or somebody timed it incorrectly in the past
