I own a similar ASUS notebook computer, and it is the very first one I've owned that is more like a cell phone when it comes to upgrading memory or replacing batteries. Definitely a STEP BACKWARDS compared to my other computers that have easy access panels for memory upgrades or battery replacement. Had I researched my purchase more astutely, I likely would have chosen another computer, although I have no complaints about the ASUS' performance.
Me too. I was in a rush to beat a funding deadline. I'm on a 2012 Lenovo ThinkPad T430 right now, and it's still my favorite. If a new and modernized "tank" like the T430 this was marketed today, I'd be on it in a heartbeat.

I had to replace the CPU/GPU cooling paste since the laptop was overheating and have noticed that above said parts, the heatsink is extended with some thermal pad and thick layers of paste. the layers of paste were completely sried out, however I could find no way to reapply such a thick layer without it smearing to the surrounding parts. I have replace it and the thermal pad with Thermal Grizzly pads. will this cause any problems?

@@ranindu3885 there are 2 slots, one is the 4gb one soldered, the other is free, so you can place a 4 gb for a better compatibility or a 8,16 for a better ram but less compatibility

Yes, you can replace it with a max 16GB on the slot, so in total you'll have 16GB (slot) +4GB (soldered) = 20GB, which is the max supported from the board.
no you cannot exceed 20GB of RAM. You cannot have 8GB soldered, you probably have 4(soldered) + 4(slot), the system renders it as 1 x 8GB though and you might think it's 1 chip/slot.

It might hurt gaming performance a bit but otherwise it should be fine.

Got this laptop and unfortunately 4GB of RAM is soldered on so I can’t increase the RAM from 8GB and still have duel channel memory:(
I have the same laptop. Just replace the 4GB with a 16GB one. It will reach a max of 20GB.

I believe they work, but haven't tested it though. Probably a bit pointless though unless you have a use case which REALLY needs that much RAM.
Updated BIOS today and installed a 32GB DDR4 3200 memory module (8 + 32 = 40GB in total)
