    Yamaha for life! The TRBX174 rules. I upgraded the pickups to the GZR EMG set and it absolutely sings now.

      is it really worthy to upgrade a such cheap instrument? Sure, I guess you don't care that you can't take these money back if you sell it, because you probably won't sell it, but upgrading £200 instrument with £150 pickups? Like putting a Mercedes engine to a Dacia Sandero! Is not worthy for most people

      @@Nico_Aslanidis Yamaha's are solid high quality instruments that punch well above their price range. Its more like dropping a turbo 2JZ into a N/A Toyota Chaser. Also It's gonna be a better investment than a stock 350 pound bass if you know what you want.

      @@Nico_Aslanidislet say you one get 175£ for it after you spend that money on pickups. Then you’re out 175£ for a bass that you wanted to play. On the other hand, let’s say you buy an 800£ bass and sell it used for 550-600£. You’ve lost more money on the expensive bass and never played the specific pickups you wanted.

    I had a TRBX174 EW a few years ago and sold it. Big regret, so this week I bought another. I remember what made me buy this in the first place. Medium weight, perfect balance and a neck in between a Precision and Jazz. Just perfect.

    I got a Squier Precision (PJ pickups) as my first bass and I love it. Way lighter and easier to play than the Yamaha, and has a more classic tone that’s easy to taylor to a lot of different styles. Highly recommend.

    why all of them have fret buzz, I want fully working bass, not one with buzz

    • @Gliese710_
      @Gliese710_ 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Basses buzz a lot more than guitars, but because of the position of the microphone and volume of the amp the mic picks up the acoustic buzz, it usually doesn’t go through the amp. If it does raising the action like 0.1 or 0.2 mm fixes it

    Why are cheap basses only aimed at beginners?

    • @rrxn
      @rrxn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      Probably bc many beginners are simply thinking if they actually want to play long-term or just try out the instrument
      Various reasons but ofc cheaper basses aren't limited to beginners imo

    • @Arfonfree
      @Arfonfree 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Not only beginners, but there are a couple of reasons that beginners should look at cheaper instruments:
      1. As a beginner, you can't know whether this will be a life-long obsession or a two-week wonder. Don't spend a lot of money until you know you're going to stick with it and enjoy it.
      2. As a beginner, you don't yet know what you want. If you're lucky, the first instrument you get will turn out to be exactly what you want. More likely is that a year or so in, you'll know a lot more about what you want and can choose an instrument that is more focused toward what you want.
      That said, all of my instruments are what would be considered budget. Not necessarily cheap, but under $600. The quality of less expensive guitars is (can be) amazing.
