      I absolutely love Dr. Grande's knowledge of cars and understanding of firearms. It's such important information in assessing the veracity of a person's story. Does a gun just "go off?" What's the difference in trigger pressure between single- and double-action?

    • @didamnesia3575
      @didamnesia3575 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@christopherg9806 guns do not just go off unless there's a serious malfunction (part breaks) which would be obvious in an examination. Extremely rare. Extremely rare. Single action with hammer back might require between 2-4lbs of pressure. Very light and no movement rearward before firing. In double action it requires a much longer trigger pull and between 6-12lbs. Basically in double action it is only through purposely pulling the trigger can it go off. If it is in single action you could make an argument for a negligent oops. But then the hammer has to be back. In a covered hammer revolver it can only be fired in double action, meaning the trigger pull cocks then hammer and releases it, it usually requires 8lbs of force. And it is long but smooth. Long is relative of course. Handguns have a longer trigger pull than a rifle or shotgun.

    As always, Dr. Grande, I appreciate your understanding of firearms in explaining the event. Many in the media are completely ignorant of these details and believe guns just "go off" on their own. Also, everybody knows the sound of power door locks and I believe the "clicking" the driver heard was Tex cocking the hammer. I suspect did this on purpose, but definitely not beyond a reasonable doubt. Your theory on his motive aligns with the conclusion I came to as the video progressed. It would be interesting to know if Tex had anything more than a friendship with the woman driving, as she would make the perfect alibi to this "accident."
    "Kill her in the kitchen and calling it a baking accident," made me laugh out loud. The kind of observation Bob Newhart might make.

Likewise, should she decide to get a divorce- more likely since she was married to someone who was ridiculously bad with money- she would get everything again. Shooting a 38 special from a snubby, through a car seat, in front of a witness, is a VERY poor plan for a successful murder. If that were tried ten times I'd bet about eight of them would not result in a death. I agree with Dr. Grande that this is best seen as a manslaughter -- either voluntary or involuntary.

    Impossible for a shrouded hammer revolver like that to go off without intentional finger help. Maybe if it was "pre-cocked" (?) Naaah. I've always muddled over that one since this case first occurred. Since I was a boy, number one rule: Finger never touches trigger without intent to shoot. Okay, back to American Horror Story Season 4 Freak Show. The Giant Lady is sorta hot.

    My guess is it could have been unintentional negligent discharge - especially if Tex cocked the gun which was pointed in an unsafe direction & broke trigger discipline while distracted. It wouldn't be the first such preventable accident caused by violating at least three safety rules....more like five or six rules in this case. Who carries a revolver in a plastic bag?

He survived but was paralyzed and it was confirmed to be an accident. please check your guns often, clean them and make sure you have the safety on. When keeping it in a vehicle, don't put it in places that could cause risk to others. It's heartbreaking and a harsh reality.
