I agree, that's such a big thing to overlook for her! I wonder if she wasn't in the right mind-space or something? The blue feet obviously reference a blue-footed bubi, I feel like they are something that should have been brought along for something so obvious.
I never noticed he was a blue footed boobie…….. MY DREAM IS NOW REALITY (although kingfishers are my favorite bird therefore my favorite animal overall and we don’t have a kingfisher Pokémon yet… sad.)

You actualy got the fire ghost typing right, i think i only actualy like the fire starter line from the starters this time
I associate Fuecoco with Jamon Iberico instead of Chilis, but Chilis certainly lean into heat!
And the Spinosaurus inspiration is excellent! There's a lot of spinosaur species in the Iberian peninsula, And I was really hopeful gamefreak would lean into that!
I think he really looks like a stuffed pimiento del piquillo. It matches even the colours of the sauces that are usually served with 😋

Love the fakemon concepts artistically! As for secondary typing, there's basically no attempt at balance. The grass/fairy typing is stronger than the other two by a pretty wide margin.
well considering that grass is significantly worse than both fire and water i think it balances itself out, pairing a really weak type with one of the best types
These are so fun, speculation is my favorite part of a new generation! Likely I'm going to choose sprigatito anyway (I like cats, so sue me), but if the real final forms blow me away like these, I might have to reconsider!

All the grass starters are based on extinct / prehistoric creatures so it will be something similar to an Iberian saber tooth tiger
Fuecoco is the only one that can be similar to what you did, but I kinda see Fuecoco evolving in a lizard from Parque Guell in Barcelona
Quaxly can be inspired in many things, Spanish marine with a humanoide flamingo appearance, a flamenco dancer or a humanoide bullfighter flamingo
I really enjoy the way Claire wrote the Quaxely evos! Not totally sold on the designs more artificial elements (they'd make excellent digimon though!) But the progression they are implying is definitely one that'd make for good additions to the Pokemon world!
The final evolutions are all so cool. I love savage druid cat, scary spicy tyrannosaur, and salty pirate duck. I especially love the details of Curmawl's fur gown, Suchili's segmented tail, and Admirigull's wing cape. Might have to go with Quaxly if it really evolves into a badass pirate. The first evolutions for Fuecoco and Quaxly don't really do it for me, but Sprigatito's is very cute.
LOVE Duckaneer and Admirgull. Holy crap I'm picking that starter now in hopes the design goes at all in the concept directions you picked. Overall liked all 3 lines very nice
This only reinforces that I will be choosing Quaxley as my starter. Your design is super cool and I hope the actual evo's are at least in the same vein.

It's refreshing to see these fan-designs because unlike Gen 8 (in my opinion), the human qualities that each Starter grows into should be more metaphorical than literal. Taking human elements and working them physically into the design rather than empathetically ended up taking away some potential appeal for them (especially Rillaboom, who went from "drum monkey :D" to just drum ape) rather than helping it.
Also, bring back sentient hat Quax evo. Justice for sentient hat Quax evo. Imagine if it had two natures, one for each of 'em. Imagine if they started arguing, but neither of them could truly be mad at eachother. Imagine the hat telling a joke that the trainer couldn't understand, but laughing because the duck started laughing. Truly a Pokemon tailored to me. One tailored to the duck, too.
Umm, it's a gorilla. What else is it supposed to do or look like? Just Thwacky but bigger?
I'm not sure if this is the right video, but wanted to share. A cool idea for a bug dragon type would be a snake with a tick infection. Ticks cover most lf their body amd it looks gross, but that could be like a parasect situation, maybe even symbiosis if the snake is alive
Fun fact: only mammals can taste capsaicin (the stuff which makes peppers spicy). As Fuecoco and its evolutions aren't mammals, they would have no problem gobbling down tons of peppers.

Grass - Really difficult to make a cat design that isn't super run-of-the-mill, but also doesn't feel forced. I think the decision to shorten it's fur at the back was a good one.
Fire - Amazing concept with the ghost pepper inspiration, but as you noted, a tad too gruesome a design for a starter pokemon. Looks great otherwise.
Water - Well executed concept, even if it goes down a fairly obvious direction (nothing wrong with that). A bit overdesigned imo. Middle stage doesn't need thstriped bottom, and would be just fine with simpler wings. Similar simplifications could be made with the final evolution. I personally think that when a pokemon looks fully clothed, it has passed the threshold on design. We are still meant to feel that they are naturally occurring.

I'm expecting Sprig to be based on a Spriggan. For the past couple gens, they've been pretty much straight forward name wise, so Sprig is probably gonna be the "oh look, another humanoid." evolution. we get nowadays

I feel like sprigatito’s evolutions are a bit to reminiscent of the lillipup line with the teal overcoats. Other than that, I really love everything else! Great work!
I would DEFINITELY choose Fuecoco if that's what it's final evolution looked like.
Reminds my of Tyrantrum line, I'm down for this design for the fire starter. Id love to have something like Suchili. After seeing this video I really want a Spinosaurus Pokémon now. we got t rex, give me the spiny boy.

I loved you first design of Fuecoco's second stage. The final design lost its cuteness bc of the eyes imo plus it's morphology was to circular imo. The first one felt more like a Pokemon design.
I thought the fuecoco would evolve into that image of that really flat crocodile

Sprigatito is not only "Sprig", "gatito" means kitty in spanish. Also, I don't remember where I saw this, but it's said that it's based on a iberian lynx, and if I'm not wrong, it's an animal in danger of extintion.

My favorite fakemon artists. Do you see a attempt to resemble gen 1 water colour style 1st stage starters? They felt very simple and nostalgic of gen 1/2
Love camewmile becomes a chonky cat and the fur looks like a doctors coat. Sprig was my least liked starter but you avoided my concerns
I like all these ideas, especially Fuecoco. Ghost pepper is amazing.
Out of these, I would pick suchilli. The ghost pepper pokemon is just to good.
Glad to see that it is a common enough feeling that other people also hate the furry-bait starter designs. Personally I love the designs you showcased here because, and this is my rational with all Pokémon designs, to some degree you should be able to see these things "living" in the "wild" (the final bird one definitely doesn't fit this but still). Any of the starters from Sword and Shield don't look like something I could see walking around in the wild, but something like Feraligatr, Torterra, and yes even Swampert seem like actual animals/creatures that would have natural animal interactions (maybe another way to think of it could be this; would this design look too out of place in something like Pokémon Snap where you're basically photographing WILD Pokémon). I'm willing to give a pass to some Pokémon that were either created by humans, or were born from humans/are ghost types haunting objects etc. due to the nature of their creation or the circumstances (Mewto, Porygon, Muk, etc.).
The only personal dis that I have against any of the designs is the tail part of the final evolution of croco-boi. The tail design itself, as well as the rest of the body overall, is astounding but the tail being cut up (with no visible way showing how its connected) just seems off. It would have been great to maybe see some type of purple "haunter-like" flame in-between the tail segments to show that the "ghost energy" is holding the tail together rather than them just being floating tail chunks.
I think the fire zodiac theory still holds up, for now. Charizard is still a dragon and Cyndaquil is based off a shrew and a hedgehog/porcupine. Foxes are closer to cats than dogs, but I feel like it’s acceptable.
I never heard the grass reptile one. The grass theory I heard was that they’re all based off extinct or endangered animals/plants. I actually thought you were trying to go for that with your grass starter design and the fangs, making it sort of like a sabertooth tiger.
Okay, 1.) hedgehogs aren't on the zodiac. Hedgehogs are also *NOT* rodents, they're under the order Eulipotyphla, not the order rodentia. 2.) Big stretch for Fennekin. Not good enough.

I’ve already learned hedgehogs are not not rodents since I left this comment. It turns out that shrews aren’t either. Porcupines are actually the only of the three that are rodents, despite them looking the least like a mouse.
I still think it’s close enough. Even if they aren’t in the rodent family, they’re constantly mistaken for being rodents. They were even gonna name Sonic, Mr. Needle Mouse. It’s the same for foxes. They’re closer to cats, but everyone thinks they’re dogs because they look more like dogs.
Besides Cyndaquil is still the fire mouse Pokémon.
Whatever Fuecoco turns into will determine whether I still believe this theory or not.
I really liked Claire’s concept for Quagsly’s evos, but I feel some parts of their evolutions felt too artificial. Like the hat was more of an accessory rather than a part of the body that resembles a hat. And any symbols used seemed too on the nose personally. Like it could use a bit more ambiguity for the symbols of the hat. But honestly, I do want a dark Blackbeard pirate bird now…Don’t let me down Nintendo!
I understand where you're coming from, but also... Look at the Oshawott line. It literally just has a seashell on its chest 😅 It's not a part of it's body, it's just... stuck to it's chest. And then to it's pants as a Dewott. So I don't think the Pokemon company is above using accessories in their pokemon designs 😅
agree, the idea was cool, and the sketches looking like old gen 1 art too O_O ...but i think the evolutions on quaxly has elements too much on the nose. i like how in the first form, quaxly hat is clearly his hair/feathers. I also think they have too much "like clothing". I like the wigns red like a cape and what she made with the beard tho

Its first design with the peppers as the horns was much better imo, but its still very good.

I think it would be cool if Fuecoco evolved to have some ghost-type features and maybe be a ghost pepper

I'd also want the middle evolution to be like, a moody teenager with bags under his eyes, as if he's hasn't been able to sleep due to the constant work and cold.
Then the final evolution I'd want to be a old sea man, who also looks extremely tired. But because he knows he has to stay awake to keep his ship/Iceberg and crew moving and alive.
Also maybe add some icicles dangling from the beak on them. For the middle one to be annoyed and concerned about these things as it makes it hard to speak. But the final evolution has them but doesn't seem to notice them, because he's been out there so long that they're essentially nothing. They don't even mess with him that much because he's not much of a speaker, instead his crew knows what to do just by his gaze or small directions he does
I know this is a lot, but frankly I'd be the happiest person if I somehow managed to get this right
I don't know much about pokemon, but aren't ice types rather weak unfortunately?
@@DissonantSynth If it becomes a Water/Ice type it would only be weak to Electric, Steel, and Fighting. And super affective against Flying, Ground, Dragon, Fire, Rock, and Grass

I get a lot of Serperior vibes from Sprigatito's line. Something that's elegant and yet threatening, as well as a basic design that flourishes as it matures. I love it!

Any theories on what the new gimmick will be? Cause my main theory is that will be a type change/alternate forms. Part of me hopes I'm right and GF will use it to give us a snake fire starter if only temporary and maybe give the starters (and other select Pokemon) two or three alternate forms that will please everyone.
BTW I thinking art might be tied into the gimmick mechanic.

With Amdirgull I feel like there’s to many design elements going on the cape and shirt together don’t look natural and look like actual clothes as oppose to a biological attribute and make it look less like a Pokemon. Love the other designs though.

Her concept is sound, its just her execution could have been better, more subtler in the design, the peg leg could have been an actual stick like braxien and delphox, and then have it hide it leg up like a flamingo to make it look like a peg leg/walking stick/weapon, the hat crest could be much more crest like by lessening the sharp angles, and remove the obvious symbol or change it to something more abstract, the wing could be much softer as angular feathers indicate steel typing but i guess dark type works too

the only one i'm not actually a fan of is meowscarada but other than that the other ones look pretty cool!
I personally like mewoscarada a lot and Gay Duck alright but Felcoco 's final evolution. I just can't figure it out weather its trying to look funny or scary. Really dissapointed at how this amazing goat pepper turned into. But hey at least it's better than Intelleon and Delfox so that's better. This personally only my option
@@The-Og-DexHolderMeowscarada ia basic as hell and the ears are weird. I kinda like Quaquaval but half of the reason I do is the animations and the memes. Skeledirge is the biggest disappointment... why does it look like it's balding? Why is the head shaped like that? Why is there so much empty space?
Wow these are cool. I think Claire's quaxly evos look just a bit too different from quaxly, but on their own I think they're kewl pokemon. Also, I really like that new pokedex format. Really brings out the Spanish vibes!
Finally, someone who doesn’t turn Fuecoco into a snake just to fit the zodiac theory. Awesome designs!

I love Quaxley’s final evolution wings resembling a coat, but I agree with some comments saying the hat and clothes feel too artificial. Maybe head feathers resembling a captains hat would suit it more.

Yea honestly I’m not a huge fan of the peg leg cause every time I think of the pokemon in battle it feels like a clunky addition solely for the sake of being more like a pirate, but I was impressed with the wings being turned into a coat cause it really ties the entire design together
I actually prefer this version of Sprigatito's evolution line over the official one, and tbh, this ironically looks less fanmade!
You know what would be interesting for a region? The starters becoming Fire/Grass, Grass/Water, Water/Fire.

I'd like to see a Grass/Dragon, Water/Dragon and Fire/Dragon final trio - only issue could be the quad ice weakness for the grass starter and ice being neutral for the other two

Personally, I think ur sprigatito final evo is probably as close to perfect as u can get without being an officially licensed pokemon. Haha fuecocos final evo strayed too far from the croc/gator and went into the dino area which I just dont see happening for a starter. I do however, love the bone and vertebrae aspect adding more of that ghost-y vibe. Quaxlys final (and second) just had too much clothing. It looked like it was wearing clothing as opposed to being a part of its physiology. I actually really liked the first big bill bird drawing u did for the second evo, and i love the idea of it becoming a pirate with practical sized wings. And that's my opinion on the matter. Cool artwork guys. Thanks for the entertainment.
Starters have gone into the Dino area before tho ? The grass starters mostly
@@fuzya8636 I think u made a good point about it usually being grass starters though, and on top of that, they r usually not carnivorous like in the art here. Idk, it just doesn't look like something they would do. Just my opinion though.
@@agamr7151 idk, I just can't see them making a dino fire starter. I actually wouldn't be too upset with a "fire feraligatr" like mon. I think hisuian decidueye us basically and grass blaziken, and I love it. However, I think they r gonna incorporate enough of a ghost type to change it enough from ur basic gator. They definitely have options though. Ur right about that.

If these were the real final evolution's for these pokemon, then this would be my favorite set of starters yet. They are just so good!

than what we got in the end.

@AndrewWithEase11 11 I wouldn’t call them bad at all. I do think that the first 2 were stronger and had more of a pokemonesque feel to them. But by no means was the water concept bad
after the show of the real starters, I am... very disappointed. I'm just going to pretend like these ones are real.
I love how Suchili doesn't look friendly yet still appeals to kids: what kid doesn't love dinosaurs? I also like its potential for incorporating Dia de los Muertos' colorful sugar skulls!
Your moss use is also unique as it never got covered by grass types. It'd be cool to see it more explicitly: You put a herbal necklace in 6:54; maybe the Elden-Ring-esque glowing moss can be placed there? It brings out the fae-ness even more. And they have SUCH good names: Curmawl (cure 'em all + mawl) and Ca-mew-mile!
If im being honest i don't think fuecoco representing Dia de los Muertos is a good idea. Unless the rest of the starters represent other hispanic cultures and celebrations just having Fuecoco be one would feel like a big cultural mix up, since Dia de los Muertos is a mexican celebrity, not a spanish one.
Honestly my nephew would love it but for some reason he's all about skeletons and Halloween anyway lol.
My hopes for the final starter evolutions are:
A Grass/Psychic type evolution for Sprigatito drawing from Iberian Lynxes and Sabre Toothed cats. Iberian Lynx are said to be associated with Psychic powers. I'm so sick of seeing Puss in Boots inspired concepts. Puss in Boots is an Italian fairy tale.
For Fuecoco, everything is pointing towards a Fire/Ghost type and I am so okay with that. Give me that skull faced ghost peppery boy.
For Quaxly, I just want a buff, punchy, Water/Fighting, sailing, blue-footed-booby. I'm imagining wing-shape being used to simulate oversized, popeye-esque biceps. I hope they don't have it be too literally wearing clothes. That is something I can't stand in a starter. Incorporate the clothing imagery subtly through cleverly shaped hair and feathers.
The puss n boots design is just people being realistic. We all know what designs GF likes to do.
You can argue Oshawott shouldn’t evolve into a samurai in an American region, or Infernape, clearly inspired by Sun Wukong, not being based off a China region, yada yada yada. Doesn’t matter the origin. Puss in boots is cool but i’d rather have the grass kitty stay quadrupedal.
The moment you mentioned the meaning of "sprig" I remembered a concept I had for a new trio of starters, them being based on medicine, half joke half serious, let me explain:
Grass: based on classic medicines only using plants, roots, and animal parts, also adding the spiritual side of that medicine, grass psychic.
Water: modern doctor, cold tools and as precise as it could, is a surgeon, water steel.
Fire: homeopathy, use what harms or is harmed to cure you, such as the poison of a serpent or eating the stomach to cure your stomach, and here comes the joke of fire fighting because of fire vs fire to cure burns.

@@Jormyyy is like getting spare parts for your body, ancient cultures believed eating animal or even human parts of what you had damaged would heal you, broken arm? Eat arm, broken leg? Eat leg, constant heart attacks? Eat a fckn human heart.

Now, on the other hand, using a snakes poison to cure yourself isn't crazy, you can study it to find what can heal it, or even use the poison itself to create medicine against itself

You take the disease, beat it up until it can't hurt you, and then use it to teach your body how to fight it. Variolation, the traditional practice preceding vaccination (using cowpox to prevent smallpox, or grinding up smallpox scabs to inoculate uninfected people against smallpox, for a couple examples) is a slightly riskier form but highlights how we really do use something that can cause harm in order to prevent harm.
Fire reminds me of cauterizing wounds and sterilization of tools, when your body heats up to fight a fever, or heat being used to reduce a consistent pain.
Fire vs fire is how fighting cancer works because you destroy cells just like cancer does

I personally think Quaxly is based on a matador, which is most well known for the Spanish-style bullfighting. Quaxly's stance is somewhat like a matador. With Quaxly head/hat, it could grow to represent a traditional hat; the montera. Since it is bullfighting, it leans it more to being a water/fighting type. At the same time, if Quaxly evolves to be more crane-like, its beak could represent either a fencing sword or a spear. Both are used in bullfighting. Also, its wings could be more like a cape.
If you know anything about modern Spanish culture you would know that matador and bullfighting is highly frowned upon, because it’s animal abuse, that’s like making a Pokémon based of Factory farms
I think would make Quaxly’s final form the first water starter Pokémon to be a Water/Fighting type.

It could also be based on the sailors that.. "discovered" america, sailing was very important on Spain at that times so it would make sense

god. your fuecoco is so good. i hate to bash other fakemon artists but i feel like you're one of the few who can properly take a concept of a starter and like, evolve it i guess? a lot of other people tend to just take the first one and make it bigger but you really use the evolutions to develop a concept and its just SO good
I appreciate making Curmawl look less “masculine”. Sword/Shield has starters that lean exclusively masculine in design, which I find a touch off-putting (even though all starters have a massive gender ratio tilt towards male).
If Fuecoco’s final evo looks anything like that it will hands down be my new favorite Pokémon

While i do like the idea of Quaxley turning into a sailor/pirate type design, I do think it'll end up turning into a Don Quixote type character (especially considering how important the don quixote story is to Spanish culture), maybe turning into a bumbling squire for the middle Evo and then a knight

My only gripe is the middle evolution of Fuecoco. His eyes are just to weird. I get that its transitioning into the skull like eyes of the final form but he just looks kinda... cracked out? LOVE the final evo though and all the other starters

9:45 I personally prefer this design for Litgarto but with the belly pattern of the final one.
I really like Curmawl and Suchili but the Quaxly evos look more like characters from another cartoon rather than pokemon or even fakemon for that matter.
I agree with your points, although I wish that Suchili had a more bulky build to match the first two evos

I was disappointed when the Legend Arceus starters' evolutions were nowhere near your neat designs.
It will probably be no different when they release the official designs of Scarlet/Violet as well, but i will always cherish your artistic visions of the pokémon universe. You work hard to see and work all the angles as much as possible.

Hisiuan Decidueye was so disappointing I put him in the stable and never looked back. It’s the last time I choose a starter before looking at their final evo
Would of much rathered a more top heavy Typhlosion. The ghost fire was cool but he just didn't have the kind of power radiating off him like normal typhlosion.

Love the first two designs, I liked the first bulky sketch of Fuecocos final evo too. The Quaxly line looks like digimon... pokemon shouldnt wear clothes and they dont really look like battlers, more like a cartoon characters.

After seeing the ACTUAL final evos for this game, I can say in 100% sincerity that they should fire everyone on the game freak design team and replace them with the two of you. (Ok not EVERYONE but these designs are leagues more appealing and well considered in my opinion).
Except for the girl that made Tinkaton (who's also the person that designed mimikyu and pancham), the person that made Ceruledge and Armarouge and the god that designed clodsire

I LOVE the idea of fuecoco's final evolution being ghost/fire, that's such an underused combo and the ghost pepper design was genius. Also, I have to say the idea of Duckaneer just wanting to be treated like part of the crew is so adorable LOL the whole pirate theme is so cool!!
Fuecoco is fire/ghost, but it's just a fire croc. The only ghost element is the face pattern resembling a skull

Pokemon final evos fell off in gen 5 and 8 lol. These are so much better especially Sprigatito's and Quaxly's, it's actually on 4 legs or more animal like.
