Frank Gadson about 10 years ago, while in Australia, I stopped at a restaurant on the highway between Canberra and Sydney. It was about midnight. The place was large and packed. At a large table next to mine was a group of teenagers celebrating an 18th birthday. One would expect rowdiness or noise at least. No. Silence reigned apart from the odd chuckle or murmur. My partner and I realised that they all seemed to be gaming on their phones, until the penny dropped that they were texting their friends around the table. Stunning, I suppose at least they were out together.

Hi, Raphael and Gentlemen Gazette, first time commenting here. Just wanted to know I really love your channel. I came by it around 3 years ago and is now by far the channel I watch most videos. This channel really got me into classical style, teached me most things I know about the subject, and even directed me to where to look further (recently got 'Dressing the Men' and 'Gentlemen' books). Just wanted to show how glad I am with your channel, and also from your store: got a couple of ties and neckties there which are simply gorgeous and earned me many compliments already. Please continue your good work and looking forward to new contents
My brother has the greatest conversation starter of all: Would you rather fight 10 duck-sized horses or 1 horse-sized duck? Always gets the conversation going.
You made a grave error there by first establishing that horses are the size of ducks. Of course I'll then want to fight one horse-sized duck, which will be...a regular duck.
Excellent questions. I wouldn't know how to answer 95% of them if I were asked. I'd have to really think. But thank you for presenting interesting questions to ask others.
Thank you for a great video. Very insightful. I think people in our society have forgotten how to speak with each other and have meaningful conversations. Great work.
I loved how Raphael said “…this way you’ll understand wether they listen to classical music or Radiohead” like there’s nothing else. Both two amazing choices though!
Surprisingly, that was how I perceived the question to originally be, on a second look it was the other way round haha. Maybe I just want people to be asking me better questions.
If I were asked some of those “starter” questions at a party, I would feel like the person was a bit nosy, too inquisitive, and I would definitely be inclined not to answer and find someone less-interrogating to talk to!!!!

Hey Raphael, seems like you left on the steady shot on on your camera. When using a tripod you have to turn it off or you will get these jittering edges like on the bookshelf. And if your camera allows for it you may open up the aperture to blur out the background a little more. Otherwise i really like the new background.
+Arne Flemming no, the vibration control is not the issue. It is the slider. When you open up more just a little movement will render you out of focus and that can be painful. I am with you, open at 1.4 you get nice bokeh but unless you have a focus puller it is not practical.
I don't think I'd ask any of those. They might be just about ok in a social setting (party, wedding, funeral, concert). Outside of that context, my asking any of those of a lady would come over as "hitting on" - "chatting up", which is fine if they want to be chatted up anyway by no-longer-so-glamorous myself, but probably not. More appropriate is to ask something "beyond personal", for instance "Excuse me, what do you think of [latest news event]?" or "Excuse me, may I ask why are you wearing a mask in the street?"
Hi, I have a charcoal grey suit and I was wondering what would be a good overcoat for it. Is a tan double breasted Burberry trench coat (at knees) a suitable color or should I look for another color and style. Any suggestions?
PLEASE for the sake of all fix that camera shake, otherwise, wonderful and informative video that I will try to take tips from and use throughout my daily life
I love your videos but I feel like life is way more simpler!! I don’t need metaphors to ask questions. Instead of “What makes you out of your bed?” I simply ask “What motivates you?” Or instead of bunch questions about hobbies,I simply ask “What excites you?”
Have you considered joining Islamic State? Why not? Are you one of those people who reckon racists should be prevented from saying what they think? What would you do if you chanced to meet the greatest genius alive? Do you know who I am? Have you ever watched the Gentleman's Gazette channel? What sort of questions would you reckon to be suitable round here?
Sven, I love you and all that, but the background is jittering on this video, and it's very distracting and hard to watch. Also, as you are such a keen photographer, please get a lens with less barrel distortion, and fix these verticals on the edge of the frame! Verticals are meant to be.. vertical! OCD? Moi? ;-)
Beck Stein, asking for proper texting etiquette suggests that you aren’t the type of person this video was intended for. It also suggests that you are okay with settling for the lower class of life the world is settling into.
Do you happen to have a video, or a guide, that tells you what is considered personal and not? Or know of something like that that exists? I have the unfortunant problem that I wasn't born with this kind of knowledge, and to this day, for all my study of psychology and human nature, humans still baffle me. And I cannot seem to find a single good guide for what exactly is considered personal, and why. I mean... How is the relationship question personal, while hobbies are not? Or why is the vision one more personal than asking about their work? (The latter one, I can't even see any distinguishable difference, as they tend to intertwine.)
I enjoy your videos, but be careful with your grammar, Raphael. You said around 2:23, "Do ease into more deeper and more difficult questions." No, no, no, no! Don't use the word "more" with a comparative adjective (adjectives formed by adding an er ending, such as deeper). It's sufficient and correct to say, "Ease into deeper and more difficult questions."
I appreciate and enjoy your content as well as your personality.... but I hate the music. It was charming at first, now it is just annoying especially how loud the opening and closing (trumpet? saxophone? ) part. Maybe if you lowered the volume of those parts and increased your voice volume somehow it would be alright.
I answered most of these questions while he was asking them and found out quite a lot about myself.

Do not ask about regrets and do not get too "in depth" in any conversation with a stranger or near stranger.

Con subtítulos en español. Please
How do you move sideways throughout the video?
I asked my husband the question: If you were a ghost whom or where would you like to haunt. He said: Joe Biden. I laughed and laughed.
*Spit roasting is a good way, tho it for every gentleman.
You should make a video on PANAMA HAT'S. Love you're videos, great knowleage ! 👍
Why would you dislike this?
is it just me or does Sven look like he's been working out??
Good stuff
+Libny Pacheco thanks
What was the last movie you watched, Raphael?
+dipro001 The Life of David Gale, I really like Kevin Spacey
Thanks for responding; nice to know that this actually works. I haven’t heard about that movie, but I will keep it on my watch list.
Sven, I love you and all that, but the background is jittering on this video, and it's very distracting and hard to watch. Also, as you are such a keen photographer, please get a lens with less barrel distortion, and fix these verticals on the edge of the frame! Verticals are meant to be.. vertical! OCD? Moi? ;-)
read any good books lately? ; )
Lady Tate the book of Job. Yo
May God save me from polite conversation.
Is there a magic carpet under your feet? How are you moving from side to side in this video?
Nobody talks anymore. Please do an update on proper texting etiquette.
Agreed.
Beck Stein, asking for proper texting etiquette suggests that you aren’t the type of person this video was intended for. It also suggests that you are okay with settling for the lower class of life the world is settling into.
It's easy to talkTO them. Getting them to talk back is the hard bit.
I don't why I'm here... 😢
why does internet NEVER help me ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
The alarm clock
I enjoy your videos, but be careful with your grammar, Raphael. You said around 2:23, "Do ease into more deeper and more difficult questions." No, no, no, no! Don't use the word "more" with a comparative adjective (adjectives formed by adding an er ending, such as deeper). It's sufficient and correct to say, "Ease into deeper and more difficult questions."
Last movie you saw?.. not really that indicative of their taste.
Go make some friends and become a true #alpha!
(ಠ_ಠ) No thanks I'd rather laugh at u
Your tie looks a bit slim for your lapel?
his tie is crooked and its giving me a panic attack
Man, you skip 28.
It's weird to hear sven mentioning radiohead.
Disagree. Keep the music
