Nice video and script. Good points made that I agree with. All a matter of whether you prefer planning out turns or if you prefer a really crunchy individual board. I personally prefer less complex individual boards in favor of more interaction, which original Azul satisfies much better. I'll eventually come back around to Azul 2 and 3, but they've been on the shelf for a while.
Hey thanks--I appreciate it! 😎 Yeah, I totally understand why Azul is so popular, and I came in hot wanting to like it. But it just wasn't for me, personally. I really like how many more options you have to make plays in Summer Pavilion, and I think it gives more opportunities to pivot if need be. Honestly taking the stress out of being "stuck" with tiles was the biggest factor for me, and hopefully people who didn't like the original Azul as much as they wanted to will give this one a try. 👍
Disagree. Base Azul is better. You only have two options when placing tiles in summer pavilion. I like having to check what opponents need and what I want and it’s fun to see if I can make it so i get what i want. There are more tense decisions with base Azul, and i like tension in games.
I can certainly see why people like the "let me try to force my opponents' draw" of the original Azul, but for me, Summer Pavilion is so much better. Keeps me more focused on what I'm doing than worrying about my opponents.
