    Replace your key control with the included emergency stop switch on your omtech polar.
    This will be useful in situations where you may need to turn off your laser quickly (i.e. emergencies) or if you don't want to keep track of your keys. One point of interest is that we want the green lead to go to from the NO (Normally Open) connection to the NC (Normally Closed) connection.

    Ok, finished watching so will comment on something other than geeking on green & black tools.
    If (still researching) we get one of these, think we’ll use a Jess-em (or similar) large paddle switch (need to double check the amp rating and Polar’s requirements, guessing it’s 15a?). We’ve got large paddle switches on pretty much every stationary woodworking tool in the shop, even machines w smaller hard to see/access emergency stops. We tend to mount them where you can easily knee-kick ‘em (if hands are full) or if hands avail you can easily palm slap em, which happens to be about where you hand naturally drops to.
    If something’s going south, don’t want to be searching for a tiny off/stop button.
    As always, YMMV. Just sharing. Nothing more. Nothing less.
    Not associated with any vendors/brands mentioned other than as a satisfied/unsatisfied paying customer as mentioned in context.
    Have a good’un!

    Eww Green & Black tools. 👍👍 Ok, non-laser related comment. Love’em, actually they’ve become something of an addiction from hex keys (awesome on stripped bolt heads) to pretty much every one of their screwdrivers (standard, not insulated). Spent pretty much a whole rainy day going through their catalog and picking the sets that had the drivers I wanted. Their 1/4” quick disconnects are nothing short of great, no more bits left stuck behind in a screw/bolt only to be noticed as missing when you go to the next screw/bolt several feet and a ladder move away, Grrrr (tribute to Grrr in Invader Zim).

    The red wire quick-connect was still slipping even after you crimped it. It's not tight and may cause a problem in the future.

      If it came off or comes off then it won’t come on. The connectors have a prong in the middle that prevent it from coming off. That’s why you see me squeeze down the middle.

    In the sense of emergency I think pushing in makes more sense to stop the machine immediately. Can you wire it that way?
    edit: Oh sorry I just read your edit all good now :)

      No worries. I made the dumb mistake of setting it so I had to pull it out instead of pushing it in. All good now

    I am having the same issue as some of the others with not firing in the camera wizard. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I so want to buy one but am intimidated by lightburn. I have the FLUX Beamo and the software is so much easier to use. Can you set up your lightburn to different material and settings you use? I use a lot of birch wood and cut and engrave. Would love to see you do an engrave. Love how you explain everything!

      The unfortunate part with those proprietary lasers is that your stuck learning and using their software. Lightburn is a semi universal software that is expanding its capability every day. They have a huge support system even outside of omtech machines. You can setup a library in lightburn to save your settings for specific materials. I find that my engravings on the polar are okay, but not as great as my 80w with upgraded air assist. You made still find yourself needing to do some post clean up (sanding).

    Holy smokes thank you for this video! My wires are blue and red though. Do you happen to know if the blue wire is the same as green? I bought my polar a month ago and it wouldn’t turn off using either switch. They sent me replacement switches but I’m a little unsure about how to do it because all the wire colors are different than what my machine has.

    • @EdmondsWoodshop
      @EdmondsWoodshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course they switched the colors. Ugh. Luckily it’s only two wires. Before you crimp them down and put everything together you can actually test it by powering it on and pushing the button in. If it turns off when you push it I then you know you did it right. If you have to pull the button out then the wires are reversed.

      My wires are the same, blue and red. Do you know what you did? My machine hasn't been powered on yet.

    Dumb question. If I wire it with the green on NO will the switch work where you push to turn off?

    • @EdmondsWoodshop
      @EdmondsWoodshop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’ll work, but it’ll be opposite of what you want. It’ll turn off by pulling it out. You need to put it on NC for normally closed if you want it to shut off by pushing it in. I only know this because I made that mistake. Ha!

      I had to edit the video. Another poster made a suggestion which made total sense so I re-recorded. TH-cam doesn’t allow you to edit video so I had to repost.

    @03:00 Does that Cable still attached to the Button Board connect to the front mounted LED Bar present on the Omtech Polar 350 but not the G·Weike Cloud? 🤔🤨
    Maybe the next D.I.Y. Project would be a Red Dot Beam Combiner? th-cam.com/video/zC5ljI3qFSs/w-d-xo.html 😁

      I can’t remember where that plugs in at. I’m actually out of town for the next few weeks so I can’t immediately check right now

      @@EdmondsWoodshop No hurry, I was just curious since my Cloud has that spare unpopulated Socket that IS being used by your Polar 350 😁
