On Saturday the 2nd of September at 11am, TripleJump presents SMTJ Live! Join us on TH-cam for a 2-hour spectacular filled to the brim with delightful nonsense including Rules Boss, Main Menu, art, a speed run attempt, special announcements, and a live gunging! Head to tripleju.mp/SMTJ to find out how YOU can get involved in the festivities. See you in September!
Drill Dozer is absolute gaming perfection, I just wish Game Freak would have been allowed to make more original titles like this, instead of only doing Pokémon games 99% of the time.
They were allowed and they failed miserably. Some higher ups need some serious shake up because the whole company is doing bad as a game developer even though ironically well financially.
The rumble cartridge implementation alone is worth a play. Most games which use rumble features get boring very quickly, but Drill Dozer makes it feel like you're using a car gear shift which keeps the tactile experience exciting throughout the whole game.
They make original titles but they aren't very memorable, even the ones that are good. It doesn't help that Pokemon massively overshadows them. Tempo the Badass Elephant, Harmoknight, Pocket Card Jocket, Little Town Hero, and Giga Wrecker were all games they released after Drill Dozer. Most of these came out on other platforms too and they were still ignored.
I'm honestly surprised that you included Scurge: Hive, that game has insane production value for being a late GBA release and is also fun and content packed! It's basically the Shantae of the GBA, and Shantae Advance (a game that was announced 20 years ago, but never launched) is now coming back with a limited run somehow. And yet, I think it's insane that Scurge: Hive was lucky enough to see the light of day on the GBA, 2 years after the DS came out.
@@birdfish86 glad you liked it! I kinda wish it had gotten more love, but Ig most people just assumed it was a Metroid knock-off at first glance, but I think it's like calling Shantae a Zelda knock-off at first glance. Scurge did get a DS port, but I think the GBA version is more special, for context alone. Orbital really knew how to make a great game that pushed the GBA to its limits
Your Ecks vs. Sever section has footage for both Ecks vs. Sever (2001) which was based off of an early script of the film and Ballistic Ecks vs Sever (2002) which followed the theatrical release far more closely. Both are great though!
its widely known to be one of the best GBA games and got awesome review scores at the time leading to many people buying it who never heard of the character
Anyone who likes Ninja-Five-O should check out the Shinobi Series, its a spiritual successor to Shinobi. I won't really call Drill Dozer a hidden gem, its on nearly every best GBA games list.
@jeffersonsteelflex6899 metabee AX i played sooooo much as a kid. i didnt realize how recent they made a turn base game for gba. i just got it. hype to play it 🫶🏻
11:15 Just a heads up, there appears to be a few clips mixed in from the second game, Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever. I had both and would probably agree the first game is the superior though less technically impressive game
Even though it was well known, Golden Sun. HOW has there not been a master collection or remake on switch?! Same with the 3DS Fire Emblem games. They all deserve touch ups graphically and be on the Switch.
Sigma Star Saga deserves to be on this list. And since J only games are allowed on this list, then Custom Robo GX deserves to be on this list. Mother 3 would be on this list too, except it's not hidden (most people know this game).
No, it’s not. Bc it’s all subjective. Make your own list. Don’t be a fanboy. Stop talkng like 10yo boy. You enjoyed those games? So what? Make your own god damn list. There is no objective list, kid.
I'm disappointed, but not surprised, that "Tomato Adventure" wasn't included. An RPG that stayed in Japan and had one of the most unique turn-based battle systems I'd ever experienced. Yes, it's in Japanese, though I believe there was no kanji, so all kana text. Still challenging for a non native speaker, but well worth a play.
Still can’t wrap my mind around Ecks vs. Sever. Granted good games based on bad movies aren’t unheard of, see Star Wars Episode I: Racer and Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (ok Pitch Black was decent, but Chronicles of Riddick was boring as hell), but a good game based on the early script of a bad movie? That’s a new one. Of course there is that Spy Hunter game based on the cancelled movie based on the arcade game, but from what I gather it’s mediocre
Boktai wasn't hidden it was very high profile at the time, I'd say Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django and lunar knights on the DS where less well known then the original
Seriously, hidden gems? These games are in almost every top and best GBA games list, where are they hidden? I'm so tired of these low-effort videos, TH-cam is full of this kind of garbage.
Alas, can’t follow your recommendation and try out many of these titles (including Drill Dozer) since I don’t have hundreds and fucking hundreds of quid to fling at GBA games (which does seem to be something YT creators forget when it comes to retro hidden gem lists).

This was my first time hearing about it and it seems right up my alley. I'll play it as soon as I finish Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
I found this game at a goodwill and fell in love with it! Definitely one of my top 5 Gba games.
@@birdfish86 glad you liked it! I kinda wish it had gotten more love, but Ig most people just assumed it was a Metroid knock-off at first glance, but I think it's like calling Shantae a Zelda knock-off at first glance.

Scurge: Hive is pretty good. I still have yet to beat it, though. The last time I played it, I was almost finished, but my computer stopped working.

There was even an Ecks vs Sever 2 game despite the movie never getting a sequel. I find it funny.
Astroboy Omega Factor is criminally underrated.
its widely known to be one of the best GBA games and got awesome review scores at the time leading to many people buying it who never heard of the character
The Ghost Rider Gameboy game and Scorpion King: Sword of Osiris are also criminally underrated.
Doom and Doom II was awesome for GBA
Ninja 5-0 will remain a hidden gem for forever in the states given the price it commands.
They really took inspiration from Logan’s Run. I mean everyone who reaches 30 will die, is definitely a direct reference from that movie.
I really liked what I saw of Scurge Hive, but it turns out I already have that one 😂😂 Better start playing it soon.
This was my first time hearing about Scurge Hive and it seems right up my alley. I'll play it as soon as I finish Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Somebody’s been rummaging around my GBA shelves again . . .
Dude Tysm for car battler Joe. I'm always looking for truly hidden gem jrpgs, and this is my next one.
You forgot to note as a fellow Brit that Drill Dozer never got released here 😭
yep I was going to point that out, I had to import the game from Canada.
Anyone who likes Ninja-Five-O should check out the Shinobi Series, its a spiritual successor to Shinobi. I won't really call Drill Dozer a hidden gem, its on nearly every best GBA games list.
She’s a trophy in smash bros, at that point you’re not a hidden gem. 😂
Plays more like Ninja Gaiden than Shinobi.
What does Shinobi have to do with N-F-O? They play differently, and they don't look alike.
0:24 That joke🤣 Brings back memories
"Samurai Deeper Kyo" Should've been on this List...
I still absolutely LOVE the pixel art on gbavanced 😍😍😍
surprised not to see medabots mention. i really enjoy the turn base and the AX series
AX is my fav gba game
@jeffersonsteelflex6899 metabee AX i played sooooo much as a kid. i didnt realize how recent they made a turn base game for gba. i just got it. hype to play it 🫶🏻
This is a great list if I say so myself. Especially Drill Dozer. I’m 38 and I still play that game.
Just seeing kuru kuru kururin in a bests on gba list made my day :)))
Yesthanks! Been looking for the name Guru Logic Champ for ages and finally found it!
I really enjoy Rebelstar, and I’m glad it doesn’t have Chrysalids.
11:15 Just a heads up, there appears to be a few clips mixed in from the second game, Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever. I had both and would probably agree the first game is the superior though less technically impressive game
always assumed turtles were amphibians until today 😅😅
No love for _Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak_ ? Come on. That game has “hidden gem” written all over it.
I was looking for that! that game is awesome!!
I recall a time when I bought a copy of the TMNT GBA game from Toys R' Us while I was with my mother as a little kid.
Wow, these really are hidden gems! Great review! Sounds like she did her research and actually played the games, will have to try it myself.
That eck of a game joke sent my straight to the hospital, great list though!
Never heard of Scurge Hive. Looks great. Definitely gotta download it
Ooh I loved drill dozen back in the day, it's so great to see it brought up again ^^
I don't care what anyone says. Ecks Vs Sever was a blast in the theater with my buddies, lol.
Even though it was well known, Golden Sun. HOW has there not been a master collection or remake on switch?! Same with the 3DS Fire Emblem games. They all deserve touch ups graphically and be on the Switch.
another great video, thanks!
Sigma Star Saga deserves to be on this list.

@@qw3823 Who are you? Why are you talking to me? I wasn't even talking to you.
Kuru Kuru Kururin was never released in the US.
I bought drill dozer at a vintage game shope when i was in high school. I got it for 12 bucks then. Cheapest one on ebay is 130 now
Does kinda help that the No.1 pick on this list was developed by GameFreak.
Hello TripleJump!👋
I'm gonna have to give these a try!
Ninja Five 0 ftw
Ninja Cop is better
I think the ninja cop game was gonna be a spiderman game but i guess something changed
Damn. Was hoping to see Sigma Star Saga on this list.
The price on Ninja 5-0 is insane. IF you can find one
Please don't use filtered footages, the effect is very ugly. Pixels are beautiful enough.
Everyone should be driving at 16!
Amazing titles!

Tomato Adventure is clearly the blueprints for the Mario and Luigi RPGs, also made by AlphaDream.
Broooo minish cap is top tier
Isn't quack shot contra with Donald duck?
I'm pushing!!! >_
Imo GBA was the 🐐 of handheld back in early 2000s
Ohh, spicy!
hahahah i knew that kuru kuru kururin had to be here i played it so much !!!!
You's forgot Sigma Star Saga!
Rebelstar, it looks like original Xcom on GBA???? Oh I am in, thanks for bringing this game to my attention
Car battler Joe at least now a days idk if I'd call it a hidden gem. Going for over 150 dollars loose haha so obviously pretty well know
No River City Ransom EX???
DRILL DOZER 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Triple Jump Time
I literally just got a copy of Drill Dozer before watching this video
How can a launch title be a hidden gem
Game boy advance was just a hidden gem in general. I was always a fan of the Sims games they had though. xD
Everybody had one..
You need to include Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival for the GBA. It is ultra amazing.
Mech platoon??
Are you good at triple jump?
Number 11 Sea trader
Yay history time
Can I interest you in some Boktai?
The GBA is somewhat of a hidden gem
Yes, the console that sold 81 million units is a hidden gem
@@johncarolina4950was just gonna say lol EVERYBODY had one where I was.
Yeah, maybe in 2023 for someone born after 2000.
It's a great handheld and all, but by no means a hidden gem. You are smoking penis
It wasn’t at the time, it was a hit!
yessssss gba is my favorite console :D

My brother in Christ, you can emulate GBA games on a fucking calculator these days if you try.
so good 🍒😃
Useless video without the name of the game on screen
Hidden Gems? nice joke.
“Guys gals and others” ?? Have dogs learned to code. Whats the “others”
A.I?
Aliens ?
👽
I enjoy these videos but please stop sticking your face in to them. It’s really distracting.
I'd cry every day without seeing their faces in these videos.
Ninja 50 😂😂😂
