These 4 cells probably took a lot of hours to finish. As an illustrator, just watching the process already made me exhausted because of how much motivation and focus it requires to do this repeatedly for hours. The anime animators deserves a lot more respect! 🙇

I am 100% guilty of it but, throw motivation in the trash, and see it more like your day work.
Do you have ANY food or item you like a lot?
I like pizza and frozen very much.
And in order to eat pizza, someone has to make it, either I, or someone else, but let's say someone else has to do it.
Now imagine if whoever makes pizza stops, in the middle of the week, because they don't have the motivation to make the pizza, even though they own a pizza store.
I would not have any pizza to eat, ahhhh how horrible... he or she has to make the pizza, its his or her day job. I will pay for the pizza, I want it, why isn't there. Why is today not a pizza day.
      Woe woe woeeee.
All because of motivation, instead of "Just make the darn pizza."
      And likewise.
Just make the darn image. Your motivation plays no role, just schedule some vacation time in there, but otherwise, treat drawing like a pizzamaking job.
You might not have the customers to prove it, but if you did, and you decided to "Oh I'm not drawing it today" and a customer enters your "The it that is drawn" store, cause it's still open of course.
And comes in and you just say" Sorry no motivation" and you'd crush the customers spirit.
      Make the pizza, Kyru.
      Make the pizza, Dorkly Morkly.
      Make the pizza, everyone.
      Just make it.
Motivation does not come into it, you're running a drawshop and there have to be drawing, so, draw.

Quick tip: there is actually already a shortcut for rotating the canvas... you can use shift+space... and to reset the rotation you can double left click while holding down the shortcut (shift+space+double click).

Also, note how Dong, after telling you to use the Onion Skin to draw the Animation Reference drawing (the one with the Triangle) actually flips between drawings, too.
This is kind of important so he (or you) does not end up getting trapped in a boring, robotic trace.
By flipping to the actual drawings instead of purely relying on onion skin (or the lightbox) you can see arcs between the line points better.
It's also why real oldschool animators 'flipped' or 'rolled' the pages with their fingers before putting down new lines.
Some animators don't even use the onion skin for some cuts, especially ones with big movement and only use onion skin/lightbox for very very fine movements where the spacing of the lines is really important and onion skin helps not drawing the line over the old one.
But you can do whatever you want. Just be aware that flipping the drawings and observing how the lines and corner/start end points of the lines move from the first drawing to the next, while you draw the inbetween of that, can be really helpful in getting a more 'flowy' inbetween.
I think this is so second nature to him that he didn't even think of mentioning it. Something he cannot really be blamed for. But I still think it's worth pointing it all out.

I decided that i would try and copy what you do as a way to learn, step for step to just see what I could get the hang of with the drawing. 2 hours have passed and im still at 4:17 I will keep on keeping on but man is this a great lesson on how hard it really is to just get the smallest things right
Idk what it is about the eyes but the shapes are just messin with me and I can seem to get sizes correct either. Making sure things are not too big or too small is also a big problem I am running into.
Edit 1:After minutes of struggle after this I decided to rewatch and saw you drew bottom up, is was going up down, so I decided bottom up was what I needed. Sure enough after a few attempts I got it it is so weird how that works.
Edit 2: I have reached the hair and… I have made some very wrong choices… remember how I stated I have problems with how things are sized? I made a lot of things too big and some parts too small, it is such a problem that I am going to have to start over. I spent 3 hrs on this and now it has dissolved into ruin. I won’t give up but this is going to be a task for a more motivated me lmao

How to import into blender and then composite it in after effects. There are many videos on doing the 2d animation but not the finalizing step at the end.

I'm suprised you smoothed the aliasing in CSP given how you showed how compositing is done in After Effects, though I suppose that's not a big deal for the sake of this particular demonstration lol.
Is there a way to composit anime in CSP further like how it was done in After Effects or no? I'm just curious lol.
This is super cool and I hope you make more videos like this again soon! I don't know why but it's so incredibly fun to watch the breakdown of it all! P.S. thank you for teaching me about the various coloring techniques! I do all my digital art in CSP but I haven't experimented with the different coloring methods and features due to being too intimidated by the learning curve beyond what I got accustomed to. It really showed me that I need to step out of my comfort zone more often and practice with the program more. Thank you for that!

God I was looking for this video for a long time, especially that explains how genga is later on colored. My question remains is how to keep G-Pen and Curve tool sizes the same. For me these lines are still thick and when smoothed out, they are sometimes remain Non-Anti-Aliased or smoothed out, but very rough.

Did you custom the default CSP’s G-Pen for this video tutorial? Since I see your G-Pen brush is placed on the custom tab, like you have a stack of brushes used specifically for your animation works that are different from the default ones.
And also, your G-Pen brush’s tip size is not as small as the default G-Pen, iirc. May I know what customization you set for this?

    Hello Dong!
I'm an old Photoshop and Illustrator user. I got to know CSP and am using the trial version of Pro. What are the advantages of using the EX version? Thank you and good luck with the channel!
