I absolutely loved that dark, first-floor bathroom. The whole house is gorgeous (except for the Insane Clown Posse clown in the home office, though I really liked that room otherwise).

My gosh, this house makes me want to cry! It’s so beautiful. I would consider this a dream home. I even like most of what the owners have done. Show stopper. One day, a home like this will be mine. Thanks for showing us this beauty. FYI-everyone, it’s now under contract. 😩

I love that house . The detailed brick work, high ceilings, transom windows, woodwork, etc. I like how they combined the modern furniture without taking away the integrity of the house. It's so beautiful and airy. A dream house!!

WOW! Incredible home. I just have to say that I so appreciate the owners’ sense of style, appreciation of the aesthetic and sense of humor which come through so beautifully in this house. Thank you for sharing this, I’ll bet it sold quickly.

They did a really great job with what they had to work with, I bet it took a lot of work, I really appreciate the salvaged items, as they give the house character. It must have been amazing when it was new, but with all the different uses it went through it finally is a home again. I love the urban loft feel of the third floor and the mixing of modern elements with the original moldings are perfect. They really stayed true to the design and gave it a modern touch that is so tastefully done. Surely a steal at 665k that’s how much I sold my 2 bedroom 2 bath 50;s ranch house in California in 2020.

I didn't think it was possible to successfully decorate a Victorian mansion in mid-century modern style and get away with it, but the owners have done it! This beautiful architectural structure of a bygone era is absolutely fantastic in its new incarnation! Everything flows, the colors are wonderful, the kitchen is fabulous, the bathrooms are beautiful... it all works! Well done!!! Another great tour, Ken, thanks!

What an incredible house! They really did a fantastic job restoring the house and tying in the older and more modern styles, which is hard to do. I often don't like that, but this was well done! $695,000.00 is a deal, too!!!

The owners have definitely set this house up for their own tastes. The ski ball game on the third level is off-the-charts quirky! This place does remind me of a house my grandparents lived in during the 1950s through mid 60s. Not because it was quirky, but because of the exposed brick. I certainly have no problem seeing old and new features mixed together such as this house demonstrates so well. I imagine that keeping a house all original or even all period correct must be exhausting and difficult to manage. Especially, as you mentioned, this house had been so heavily cannibalized over the years it was empty. I give a big salute to the people who were able to take a place so badly neglected and turn it into a masterpiece!
You never mentioned it, but I assume that it was called the "Keyhole House" because of the shape of the brickwork around the front door. Very nice and unique touch.

It’s an absolutely gorgeous house! I’m grateful that they rescued and restored/renovated it.
Loved the lighting and the restoration on the first floor (not a fan of the furniture and artwork choices, but the home itself was done pretty true to itself). Same for the second floor, but without the pretty lighting.
For my own tastes, I don’t much care for industrial style spaces or furnishings except in commercial spaces, so... But having said that, it’s primarily furnishings and not the house except for the third floor and much of that is an easy “fix” if you wanted something more traditional.
They did a marvelous job of restoring and preserving the character of the home itself! And that exterior brickwork is phenomenal!!!
    Great job, Ken!

I'm sorry, but as the owner, many years ago, of an 1898 Townhouse in Brooklyn, NY, I can tell you that kitchens and bathrooms should be as modern as possible today. You don't live like they did back in the 19th century ....and honestly, you would not want to. The rest is merely decor. But function beats form any day.

    • @Lucinda_Jackson
      @Lucinda_Jackson 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@creativo4ever564
Did someone mention kitchens and bathrooms? I’m not seeing it… And I did say that it was primarily furnishings. Having said that, I agree that kitchens and baths need to have modern function, but it’s possible to achieve that function and still retain character.

This house is gorgeous. The owners have done a beautiful job, not restoring any original features that remained, but sourcing some amazing historical items from other buildings, and giving them a new purpose and a new life.
This is the kind of older home I would love to live in. The restoration work was impeccable, and, as you noted, the more modern elements they added complement the home perfectly.
I wouldn't change a thing. Well...I would probably get rid of that terrifying clown. But other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. 🙂

In my (unprofessional) opinion, I think that this home was very thoughtfully updated to meet the tastes of the average modern homeowner while retaining a certain (albeit toned down) level of its historical aura. With that said, if this had been a home that up to its most recent renovation was in its original, in-altered state, then I may have taken issue with certain aspects of its modernization. However, since most of the historical features of the property were actually brought back in manually through the use of salvage to what you described as essentially being a blank slate, I’m fine with the creative liberties taken. Ultimately, the end result was a beautiful home that anyone would be lucky to have.

The house is beautiful in the outside and the gardens. What a shame what happened to it in the past, being looted, it’s so sad! 🥺 Now honestly, I don’t like the inside and this one would not be my dream house for this reason: too much modern decor and modern changes. 🥴 I know some people like it but it’s not my cup of tea. My dream house would be like some other ones seen in this and other channels, all old looking inside! 😄✨
