Posey, meanwhile, called Guest from New York and told him she had an idea for her audition. “She sent me this two-page, single-space monologue that she wrote, asked if she could do it in addition to singing ‘Teacher’s Pet,’” Guest recalled in DVD commentary. “It’s one of the most extraordinarily bizarre scenes. For a while I had it in the movie instead of the song. I fell in love with how crazy it was.”

Parker at her (demented) best - just brilliant. I love the whole movie but this and "This Bulging River" form the deleted scenes may be my favorite two scenes.
Best thing about this movie for me was how uncritical Corky was everyone's performance both in the auditions and rehearsals. Someone could walk in to the audition and start flossing their teeth and he wouldn't judge them. He's like the anti-Simon Cowell
Length and tone. Libbie May has a sunnier personality in the rest of the movie. Though she's clearly working here from V.C. Andrews novels rather than personal experience, it makes you wonder if her life might be about something nastier than Dairy Queen Blizzards. It's funnier than the movie, but only as a standalone piece.
Parker is one of those actors- seen everything she’s ever done. She’s also one of those humans. Seen about every interview she’s ever done. My personal fave: Broken English. Her and Drea De Matteo knocked that one out of the park. Go watch it.
I've enjoyed literally every moment I've ever seen Parker Posey on screen. It's wild. I can't say the same for any other actor or actress except maybe Sam Rockwell.
Posey is from Laurel, Mississippi ---- she's using the normal way of speaking for natives ( minus the dramatics, of course). I can't remember her using it elsewhere, not even "Dazed and Confused"
Her compassionless delivery of the line about her husband accidentally dying is such a weird wonderful turning point. That she makes an excuse to say it twice… comic brilliance.
Damn. For excellent actor just to act like an amateur actor seems like it would be a challenge. But to actually make it real enough where you connect with the character, to make you wonder about what’s going on with her, to believe she is a real, person and want to know more… damn.
I thought "waiting for Guffman" sucked. I remember anxiously awaiting it's debut bc of HOW MUCH I LOVED Best in Show & was so disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high. I'd watch it again tho ~ just to watch Parker Posey! Love her! Maybe if they'd have left this scene in the movie it'd have been better.
I loved how she tried to leave at the end but couldn’t find the imaginary door. Iconic.
Parker apparently wrote this scene the night before filming. Just incredible.
nice lil factoid! where did you hear this? is there some behind the scenes compendium i'm missing somewhere?!
This scene in addition to France Fisher's scene were both in the Theatrical release!
It's at least inspired by Flowers in the Attic.

This movie was nothing short of absolute genius. Never laughed so hard in my life
I’ve always been a huge Parker Posey fan and never seen this before.
Wow. Just incredible.
"the doll we used to play with before the war...before you went inSANE..."
😭😭😭😭
“Whose husband ‘accidentally’ just died?” Lol! I love the gum chewing.
Masterclass. Decades ahead of its time. I will love this forever
All those times we spent in the attic... LOCKED UP..... With muffin...... *looks at doll*
I can think of worse things than being locked up in an attic with Parker Posey... and Muffin :)
@@jamesanthony8438 That's being locked up with Parker Posey's Muffin, right?
Pure talent. No way I could ever pull this improv off.
She is incredible in this scene! Love her!
Parker can make me choke with laughter with just an expression.
WWWWHHHYYYYYY was this cut from the version I saw! This is brilliant!
Ms Posey-- this is 4 minutes of genius..congrats! The perfect audition piece for a musical...heh heh...
Parker Posey is absolutely adorable in whatever she does. I've been in love since the first time I saw this movie.
Parker at her (demented) best - just brilliant. I love the whole movie but this and "This Bulging River" form the deleted scenes may be my favorite two scenes.
why the fuck were these scenes deleted???
The crush just deepens...
Everything she does is great!!!!
It is a fantastic stand-alone scene. Perfectly played, Parker!
Best thing about this movie for me was how uncritical Corky was everyone's performance both in the auditions and rehearsals. Someone could walk in to the audition and start flossing their teeth and he wouldn't judge them. He's like the anti-Simon Cowell
that’s why he never got done sh*t!😂😂😂
"...and who's wearing fine jewels, and expensive clothes"
"Who's on top and Who's on bottom now"! Hilarious
The brilliance of improv acting. One of my favorite comedy films.
This is definitely one of my favorites too along with Best In Show…
Every move in this is so choreographed, every word so carefully chosen, it makes me want to cry.
but no, it wasn't
I know this is played for laughs, but Parker's performance is still amazing.
parker is a genius...gosh i love this movie so so so much.
Are u a lover of Best In Show too?❤️
Why was this cut from the movie? If it had been left in, it would have been of one of the funniest scenes in it!
I know. She's so talented. It's sad that any scenes were deleted.
Too long, I suppose
Nah. The final edit was perfection.
It was either use this or the Teacher's Pet song...I think he picked the wrong one, too. ;)

I was and still am in love with her. I guess ever since Dazed and Confused when I was 15
She's brilliant. Fumbling with her purse, hair in her mouth ... just lol. Whatta gal.
She is a fucking icon. ❤
This is my favorite nice-girl Parker Posey role, even if she's playing a killer.
Brilliant!
Parker has always been gorgeous! I fell in love with her in after seeing Hal Hartley's films.
LMAO I love all the subtle humor in this show. Insane asylums don't have "life support systems" Lololol
It’s so ridiculous I can’t stop laughing rn
Parker Posey = genius.
My favorite part is that Libby is chewing gum through the entire movie
Parker posey steals every guest film
Utterly brilliant
Parker is one of those actors- seen everything she’s ever done. She’s also one of those humans. Seen about every interview she’s ever done. My personal fave: Broken English. Her and Drea De Matteo knocked that one out of the park. Go watch it.
2:41 especialnally?...lol. fucking love this movie :D
The darkness in Parker's improv is under appreciated imo.
I've enjoyed literally every moment I've ever seen Parker Posey on screen. It's wild. I can't say the same for any other actor or actress except maybe Sam Rockwell.
Im obsessed with her
Brilliant

When it cuts to the panel for the first time after all this performance so far at 1:54 😂
"This is the chair that I sit in" HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA! Gotta love untrained actors like Libby Mae Brown!
"Oh, this is a... there's a plug here that's hooked into where he's breathin' and stuff..."
Precocious
I wonder if this was inspired by Flowers in the Attic at all.
That was my first thought!
This movie was comedic genius lol
It's one of my all time favorites
Anyone see her appearances on Louie? When she popped up on that show, I was reminded how she was always good from the beginning and just got better.
I love how the guy to Corky's right (left to us) never says a word or shows a single facial expression. it's hard playing a nonentity.
I saw the Mighty Wind concert once. Some fanboys and girls kept screaming her name. It seemed they were only there to see her.
This movie is absolutely amazing in it's character study of a bunch of misfits who desperately want vindication from a man who never arrives.
Loop it and play it forever.
she's hilarious
HAHAHA! I love this!
Great acting.
BRILLIANT!!!1
Parker Posey is brilliant. My favourite is her performance in Henry Fool. 😊
This scene in addition to France Fisher's scene were both in the Theatrical release!
"Especianally" 2:41
The doll we used to play with before the war
Best EVER!!!
Notice you didn't hear her singing John Lennon's "Imagine" while in qurrantine...lol 😆
Parker Posey is a fox, dayum..
I want …
“Especinally”
“Especianally”
I just watched this movie and instead of this there was a little song she did called teachers pet
"especialany"
Hilarious movie
Chewing gum in her audition. Amazing.
Is that J. Elvis Weinstein at the table with Bob and Chris?
I'm here because of Travis's reference
Damn. For excellent actor just to act like an amateur actor seems like it would be a challenge. But to actually make it real enough where you connect with the character, to make you wonder about what’s going on with her, to believe she is a real, person and want to know more… damn.
FUCK she's so fucking funny
She is cute.
She's trying to do bad acting? I was right there hanging on every line, lol.
She reminds me of a more animated Aubrey Plaza. Get them working together.
Plaza is a one trick pony. She doesn't have any actual acting skill lol kinda like that Kristen Stewart
"Who's own top and who's own bottom now!?"
We sorta know why she pulled the plug on Billy, right?
And whos wearin fahn jewels and expensive clothes
Muffin!
Why is this loopy young woman so piercingly poignant!!!
I understand why this didn't make it into the actual film
😐
Back when Dr Smith was cute..
This is an out take. Her “Teacher’s Pet” audition is much better. But that’s okay. Any unseen footage of Parker Posey is worth watching.
You must be one of those bastard people I’ve heard tell of
Waiting for Guffman was released 4 years before Best in Show
