Nice to know you have a new bike Jim. I struggle with choice of bikes with being only 5’4”. I did fancy the BMW 1000 XR with a low seat but prices put me off. I’ll be 66 this year so maybe not so many years left to ride . Anyway glad your sorted Phil
Congratulations getting back to a BMW. I have a blue RT 2021. Started following you when you had your RT. I found your videos very interesting especially the electric car experience. I have purchased a second hand X5 diesel after watch them. On the bike front i was very drawn to the GSA but will never take it off road as i have a honda CRF for off roading. So will be sticking with the RT. I have not had any of the issues you had with your RT, thankfully
Hello Tony. The Rt is a great bike now. My 'mistake' was buying a bike designed during Covid, packed with new technology that also suffered some historical twin problems of the exhaust valve. Certainly in the early days I was not alone, especially in the connectivity, but BMW worked those out and now from what I hear all is good, and the RT remains the best dedicated sports tourer on the market. Same issue with the electric car, I was in that first wave of early mass adopters and I had wanted to have an electric car for years, so I was a bit quick to buy, and then find out just how bad the infrastructure was, and actually, how limiting the electric car is in reality, something many many people have found out and hence the huge drop in the values of electric cars. My hybrid BMW is great, but in April I bought a 12 year old diesel Volvo that gives me 650 miles between fill ups on normal driving, and near 800 miles on motorway long distances. My reason for going back to BMW was firstly buying locally, but also I have found out the difference between BMW customer service and Honda, and while neither are perfect, BMW were very helpful and quick to help, where Honda don't care. I don't do off-roading bar the odd rough country lane, the reason for the GSA was it was the best bike for the budget I had. Happy riding.
@@HighlandRider i agree my local bmw dealer is very good. I live in Devon and use Ocean BMW in plymouth. GSA is a great bike and have ridden a number on demos and one at the BMW off road riding school.
Wow ! Outstanding. I’ve often thought about getting the GS. I think you’re going to really like this new ride. The only real reason I didn’t purchase was the wind screen was not enough protection when on a long open hwy ride. But, it’s an awesome ride
I may get a bigger screen or one of thise wings but I am used to riding a Goldwing and that screen leaves my in a silent world where I can ride visor up all day
Great stuff young May, identical to my 2019 R1250 GSA TE Exclusive, in Kalamata, you will love it. Check if the bike has been re-called for a new shaft. If it has the Battleaxe tyres you will notice a lot of noise coming up through between the handlebars and fairing, that and the fact that the clutch basket/gear boxis now up front. Interesting to hear your thoughts. Joe.
Hello sir and congratulations on your new bike. Hopefully this bike being made in Germany it will hold up better with moisture and salt. I don’t think you can fault the goldwing or Honda to much or yourself for that matter. It could just be this is not the bike to have if you live in tuff weather conditions. Definitely get rid of it fast. I wonder how are your cars holding up? What do they have that the goldwing doesn’t?
Great choice fella, I previously had a 1200RT 2015 which I've not replaced with the Honda NT1100 DCT and absolutely love it! My son has just bought a 2005 GS1200 with 105,000 miles and absolutely loves it! He's thinking of updating next year to the water-cooled model 2014 onwards. Sorry to hear about all the aggro with the Wing, but I think you've made the right decision 😊
I know Peter, more for convenience than anything else. Having to travel to Edinburgh to get the Goldwing services was a pain so I decided to swallow my pride and go the BMW route again, just a good used one
No, having to get used to gears again. That said not sure how well the wing would have coped on those roads especially when following cyclists doing 1mph, that would have been a test of DCT
Sorry to hear the GW is being sold, but totally understand your reasoning. I have the same model GW as you and still love it, but may feel different if it starts to let me down. I had the GSA 1200 a few bikes ago and really liked it, so again I get your choice of purchase, however I had to sell mine as the vibrations made my hands numb constantly and I tried everything to sort it. Will be interested to hear if they have resolved that and if you get any numb hands! Good luck with it. Hope you don't lose too much on the GW.
Nice. Happy miles 👌
Despite the wind in that spot, I had a lovely day out
@@HighlandRider I was in exact same spot last Friday. 24c. Glorious
@@rmgslc It was very busy, lots of campers and bikes but still wonderful
Very nice bike I sincerely hope you have more luck with this bike after the last two bikes have been a let down ,enjoy ❤
The tee shirt swung it then 😂😂
The bike came free with the tee shirt, they are just very expensive tee shrts!

Know how you feel, with me hitting 63 soon. This is probably my last bike and I will keep it until I cannot manage it anymore.
At the beginning I thought you were in the middle of nowhere but in seconds you were surrounded by cars! Good luck with the GSA.
If I had known how busy it was going to be I wouldn’t have bothered

Apologies for the sound quality, it seemed a good idea at the time!
Amazon sell hand grip strengtheners. Do you need a pair?😄
I need help in so many ways 😂

Thank you for your comments. If a bike is not built for tough weather, maybe Honda should say that before taking our money?

You went back to BMW. Blimey! After your previous experiences I’m surprised.

Wind noise is awful. Glad your back on a BMW.

Back to BMW !!! 🤞this time. Can’t fault the Rhino bags for the price, had mine in some horrendous weather, not let me down yet.
Very impressed with mine, as good as kriega. I find the straps a little short but I have loads of spares so not an issue
