@Lane no the survivalist rifle was a dissipator in 50 Beowulf, but It had a lot of sp1 components, with the wood furniture.
Loving this Retro line of rifles from Brownells.
That gun looks so neat and clean, I don't know what it is about it that's giving me that impression. It looks crisp, idk if that makes sense to anyone else. Got to shoot an old armalite ar 10 with the bakelite furniture. Very cool, had the weird charging handle on top like that.
Almost looks like a plastic toy gun! I mean that in a good way though.

Over the years I have owned several original Sudanese AR 10s similar to what you are shooting.
All of them had the infamous "ring" due to the design of the flash hider.
We cured it by putting a small curtain rings on the flashhider prongs to stop the sonic vibration.
I worked.You are right about the colour;it is not the same.

I love that ring that the flash hider makes, sounds super cool
For everyone with one of these that have charging handle problems where it seems like it's impossible to pull back the bolt, the problem is twofold: the retention spring is too tight, and the whole charging handle "rod" (not sure what else to call it) rotates downward when pulled back causing a lot of unnecessary friction in the channel it rides in. To address this I did two things: one is taking out the spring piece and clamping it together to reduce its width a bit, and two is putting a small piece of gorilla tape in the tiny sliver of space between the top of the stock and where the charging handle protrudes out the back of the upper a bit. This both reduces the tension holding the handle in, as well as makes sure the charging rod doesn't rotate downward while I'm pulling it to reduce friction. Do these two things and you should find it gets noticeably easier to charge the rifle

Man, that 3 prong flash hider is ringing like a bell! No wonder the newer design 3 prongs have uneven cutouts. To kill that ring.
Sure it's the flash hider and not the buffer spring?
I'm thinking it's the flash hider for two reasons, A) we can hear it on camera outside and away from the gun. You usually can't hear the buffer spring more than a foot or so outside the gun. And B) the ring is a high pitched ping rather than a low pitch "Pung" that the buffer spring usually creates.
I mean, it's just like a big tuning fork hanging off the end of your gun. Not the best design, but I love the look of those.
They are probably on of the best designs for purely flash suppression, but yeah, they are totally a tuning fork.
See my comment about putting a curtain ring on the flash hider prongs to suppress the sonic ring.
I'm still waiting for a meltdown of the BRN16A1.
Such sweet simplicity for .308
There’s something so satisfying about a 308 absolutely smacking steel at 100 yards. Just wallops it as soon as the trigger is pulled, gotta love a 308.
You can use the old waffle pattern magazines as well. Brownells makes those too now.
And I'll be honest they look a LOT better than the SR-25 mags

I really want to get some of the retro BRN rifles. This BRN 10 looks so good, here's to hoping they aren't having issues. I'd have to get a 5.56 Brownells rifle and Hi-Power clone to do an NCR loadout.

I like what Brownells is doing with their retro rifles. When they first came out I chalked it up to the novelty section. But I was wrong. They look like a great rifles. I need to get the 10.

I'm a very proud owner of a original Artillerie Inrichtingen AR 10 build for the Portugese Army. The brown furniture on it is the same as on the first brown AR15's en the painted over Colt 601. I also have a carbine upper on it. You should try to get your hands on one of those, they are extremly loud en have a large muzzle flash.
The carbine was designed for the KLM airlines for over the northpole flights. Guess the were afraid of polarbears after a crashlanding.
Save your money! I spent 5 years saving for a full auto sear did the paperwork and all the annoying stuff. Now I have a full auto rifle legally! I’m just your everyday person. It’s the same paperwork as an sbr you just need a fat chunk of change to have one. Totally worth it!

I'm not normally a big fan of ar style guns, but I have to say this is one sweet looking rifle.
Retro ARs are probably my favorite looking guns. All the new tacticool crap isn't really my style.
Not a fan of the chocolate brown plastics, I know they are going for the retro look but it's enough to put me off buying one. Now if they had a nice olive drab.... ;-)

@@AnontheGOAT here's a thought I just had, isn't there a provision in the Hughes Amendment that says you can register a new machine gun if you get permission from a government entity? someone else read over the text and verify me on that. If that's true and anyone's good friends with their local Sheriff, test that out

Rockin review of the Brownells copy of the original Stoner AR10. To think Eugene Stoner submitted an AR10 in 7.62 NATO very similar to the Brownells copy and the U.S. Army rejected it boggles the mind. Its a few pounds lighter than the M-14 or an M1 Garand and like an M-14, its .30 caliber with that heavy main battle punch. Anybody who's ever had to carry loads on foot for any halfway significant distance in rough terrain, they know every pound matters. Knocking a few pounds off a .30 caliber main battle rifle was genius in the late fifties or early sixties. Imagine a flat top version of that AR10 with an ACOG being issued to Marines or Army infantry. Talk about a lightweight .30 caliber main battle rifle with real punch all the way out to 500 or even 600.

I built an AR 308 with a Aero M5 receiver in a 16 inch barrel. Love the 308 I might pick up one of these these AR-10s also
This guy is a pretty good shot, I was impressed with his shot grouping haha. Definetly better than me.
Make your own ammo for it. Military surplus ammo can be old and inconsistent. I have a bunch of German surplus ammo that I got cheap a few years back. They always fire but are tough to group with. It's great for plinking bottles and cans.
