- I put Screen Room Drains in our lanai to get rid of pooling water. All I needed was a Dremel Tool and a screwdriver.
I bought my drains from screenroomdrains.com
I am not affiliated with them but I can install these for you if you are in my area.
If interested, send me an email at randomlyawkward1@gmail.com
I know that voice from anywhere! Miss ya. Thanks for the advice on how to install!
Hey you! Hope work is going well. Miss seeing your smiling face!
Thank you for making this video. I will be ordering one of these drains soon. I have 2 questions if you don't mind. What kind of dremel bit did you use to cut the hole? Is there any trick to cutting the hole on the outside of the enclosure so the 2 holes are lined up properly? Thanks!
Hello, I use an oscillating multi tool with a metal cutting blade to make a nice straight line and then use a RotoZip cutting bit in the Dremel tool. I can make precise cuts that way.
To cut the “other side” of the aluminum, I put the drain on top of the base channel in the location where it will go, and then I eyeball it from the reverse side of the screen and mark my cutting lines on the left and right side with a sharpie on the outside edge of the aluminum.
Next, I take the drain around to the outside of the enclosure and line it up with my marks and draw a line there. Basically, the screen is in the way, but that allows me to make the same cut marks on both sides of the aluminum. Hopefully this helps…
@@RandomlyAwkward1 Very helpful. Thank you so much!
Great shot of your hand holding the Dremel tool. Would have been nice to actually show how you cut the sheet metal of the pool cage. Nice advertisement for a $35 piece of plastic.
I agree the piece of plastic is very expensive, but I do not make them; I just install them.
The video that I made was when I installed one on my own lanai and it was kind of hard to get a good shot of everything with my camera. Maybe I’ll make another video that shows it more clearly. Basically you use a Roto zip bit in the Dremel tool and then you can cut the rectangle on both sides of the channel so the plastic drain slides in.
I’m sorry it was not helpful for you, but I’ll try to do better in the future. I welcome. Any suggestions or comments so I can do a better job.
Thanks!
It’s a free video don’t be so entitled.
Will this work with wood base plate?
I don’t know why not, although I have only installed them in aluminum.
Should I NOT caulk the inside? What about the outside?
@@aleemmandol1965 you can caulk the inside if you wish.
Where do I get this?
Where did you purchase the drain
Hello, I got them from screenroomdrains.com
Where can I purchase this Drain???. Stat?
screenroomdrains.com
A lot of times the screws heads snap.
I use self-tapping color matched aluminum screws and haven’t had any issue with them so far. I don’t use the zinc ones that are supplied with the drain.
How do I order the drains? and do you install in Duval county?
Hi Dan… I sent you an email. Thanks! You can buy them directly from the manufacturer at screenroomdrains.com
I ordered 3 of these sent you an email regarding installation.
