Never really followed Aretha, except for her older 80s Pink Cadillac type stuff. Man this younger stuff…she really had a terrific voice. Yeah, everyone knew that except me. Thanks L-Z for opening my ears!

Hey Lizzie. Great reaction ,but no surprise to this hauntingly beautiful love song. Aretha's voice is incomparable. This song was written for her by her sister Caroiyn Franklin, a gifted song writer. That high operatic note between the bridges is Cissy Houston(Whitney Houston's mother).

Aretha brought everybody to church, even when she sang pop or jazz songs. She brought the soul of the church and you could just hear it in that miraculous voice. I got to see her several times in the 1970s in concert and that voice blew the roof off the place. Heaven is so lucky that you are up there singing with the angels.

You see, this is why I'm watching for any posts from Lizzie the Gangster Hippie.
You really chose a powerful recording of Aretha Franklin with "Ain't No Way".
    You're absolutely correct, Lizzie.
From the very beginning, it was like that saxophone was calling out. "Come on, you're welcome here (musical ShangriLa)".
And when Aretha started to sing, she took me to that 'Wonderful and loving' place.
There are so many songs Aretha Franklin recorded. I'll just put three of my favorites for you:
    "Daydreaming"
"Until You Come Back To Me"
    "Wonderful"
Wow! What a great piece of music you reacted to, Lizzie.
    Thank you so much.

So great to see you Lizzie! Loved your reaction to the Queen of Soul, the legendary Aretha Franklin! She was truly one of a kind! Due to her upbringing and singing in the church, many of her songs have that spiritual quality. And that voice you hear in the background is non-other then Cissy Houston. The mother of Whitney Houston. I'd love to see you react to Aretha Franklin's performance at The Kennedy Center Honors program in 2015. Carol King was being honored and Aretha performed her song Natural Woman. Which was written by Carol King. Aretha Franklin was 73 at the time and this performance will blow you away!!🤯 Best wishes Lizzie!❤

I'll just comment on the many people she inspired to 'Take that extra step'.
I had not known about the courage and strength she gave to so many people.
I've watched just the few that spoke at her funeral (it was ten hours long). And some of best musical performances, in tribute to the Queen of Soul.
