    Kenny you are literally a big hero of mine and I mean it. If I actually release any cool music I'll credit you all day long. I make wooden musical instruments for a living but am challenged on getting any original music released, myself (a huge self critic). You're helping more than anything else ever before.

    I like how you always say: "I hope you learned something, I hope you can use it" after continually telling us how to light a fire and rediscover the wheel. I couldn't imagine life without Reaper anymore.

    This video lays bare the fundamentals of what an arpeggiator is and does. The JS plugins in Reaper don't have a lot of "flash" as they are basic and barebones, yet 99.8 per cent of the time the simple way is often the best way. Thanks Kenny and Team Reaper, well done.

    Super cool Kenny, I have been using REAPER mostly just for recording for years and I have a couple hardware arpeggiators, in fact I kinda gave up using software instruments and utilities for a few years. I clearly have a whole lot to discover with REAPER, I've been getting blown away with how much progress there's been over the years now that I'm looking into it again. The only feature I'm kinda missing is my hardware arps have the option to play the notes in the order in which they're pressed, in addition to up and down. But I'm just glad to see such a good arp in the install.

  • @Deadbeatradio
    @Deadbeatradio 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So relieved to find this. Now I can get the Arp's I've not been able to find for so long. Time for a Trance'd-out-Reaper fest. Thank you so much for your helpful work!

    Great tutorial and great plugin!
    Took me a moment to understand what the alt mode does. Just "down" plays the top note and all its variants, then the next. "down alt" plays all the notes top to bottom, then all their first variants top to bottom, etc.

    I'm just getting into wanting to explore making music electronically a bit more and tried to use the midi arp feature before and was completely lost. Your tutorial made it easy to follow, and right after I watched it I cracked Reaper open and started messing with it, and because of your clear instructions, I knew what I was doing this time and got it to work! Thank you so much for such simplified in depth tutorials Kenny, they really help a lot!

    Excellent presentation - thank you. I'm just starting out with Reaper and exploring inclusive functionality and arpegiators are a must-have for me. This is a big tick on my list. What i love about the Reaper arp is the focus on functionality/versatility. Coming from Reason the exact opposite tends to be true; lots of pizaz making you think you have more than there is plus, because of intense graphics there's huge cpu usage.

    Used together with a drum machine can get interesting drum rolls

      how do you record these arps

    • @lardosian
      @lardosian 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnstudiob2481 One way is to load in a drum machine vst, load in a few samples and add the arpegiator vst to the same track. It's essentially the same method as a synth vst. But dont use the Reaper sampleomatic5000 plugin because it only triggers one sound.

  • @FH-ux4rf
    @FH-ux4rf 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    What? I've been searching for a decent arpeggiator for so long, not realising Reaper had one already. Although I miss some nice interface (which all the reaper plugins lack), but at least it's very simple and easy to use!

  • @Skandawin78
    @Skandawin78 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Reaper has so many great features but for some reason it is adamant not to add a feature like scratch pad or a session view (I know playtime exists but not a built in feature which seamlessly work).
    It is key for recording ideas quickly . For this one reason I always go to Ableton or even Mixcraft (which has a performance panel) .
    Will folks at Reaper do something about it?
