Thank God... I was starting to get truly depressed at Reaper quantization and having to manually adjust the notes was just so much pain. Reaper is not my first DAW but I do quite like it and finding that tutorial clearly helped it this way. I've gotta say : I admire guys like you posting these videos to help newcomers feel like home, that's for sure a truly respectable job and mission. Thanks again.
Dude, you just saved my life!!!! LOL!! But serius now, you saved a buch of my time with this lesson. Thank you so much and I really appreciate your work. Nice job!!
Just getting started in my music creation journey, and this video was very helpful and very informative - I'm sure I will refer regularly to this video when I am tweaking my music! Thanks, Dude!
I just realized the zoom animation in your midi editor looks really smooth! Mine zooms in pretty chunky increments. Is there some kind of option for that?
This was a very informative TH-cam video it really helps to explain how to quantize your notes! This is something that has always been tricky for me The pauses after every 3 words is kind of annoying though.
Am i the only who can't quantize anything? No matter what I click or select, nothing change. Maybe I have to unlock or allow quantization somehow somewhere?
I would have thought all MIDI events in the Edit window had to be selected before they'd all get quantized. I'm not seeing all events highlighted, but, hey, it's probably a setting or mode in effect. Thx.
Thanks very much. I really like your videos. A little slow, but that makes sure that even I understand! :) really helpful for me as a beginner to DAW in general and reaper in particular.
Just installed 6.13/x64 Windows. Recorded MIDI appearing before the beat on the grid. I have no problem with other DAWs such as Ableton, FLS, Cubase, and Reason. Tried using click and a audio drum track. Very strange!
If you commit to a particular quantize action, can you later just go to ‘undo’ on the edit menu? How many undos can you do? Can you go back to say, ten changes?
Sure! For example with drums you can detect transients and snap them to grid. Or you can use stretch markers and snap them to grip. There are many videos on how to do that.
@@simonvanderheijden432 thanks a lot! I've always had trouble getting the percussion recorded in audio right in the tempo of the projects... It always feels a little off... I have to learn how to work with midi
@@1pepituh no thanx bro. But it's much better to learn how to play in time. This wel make you a better musician and it will serve you well in the future. Midi quantizing is just a tool, it must not substitute poor playing skills. In the pocket is where it's at.. 🤘
This video could've come at a better time..Reaper ver 5.93, using kontakt 5, my midi is ridiculously off no matter what I try (I must be missing something). Hopefully I can find a way via the forum too. Thanks!
Maybe you are dealing with latency issues, every sample pack has a deley of a few milisseconds. Even the MIDI being quantized it will be of. Try the plugin (stock) 'Time Adjustment Delay' after Kontakt and play with a negative delay amount.
@@barkofink I understand how quantize works, it just doesn't work in my Reaper. It does work when I record in real time, it just does nothing after I recorded something and I what to quantize that. Not in 1/8 notes, 1/16 notes or 1/32 notes etcetera regardless of tempo.
I had the same issue but then realized the quantize window has Bypass selected by default. As soon as I unchecked Bypass then it was fine. Just throwing that out there in case you overlooked it like I did.
Thank God...

Kris Luyckx 😂😂😂
Oh yeah he does Shatner pretty hard, doesn't he? Now I can't un-hear it!
I would know… nothing about how to effectively use. Reaper? If it weren’t for this. Channel?
l ol.
Starts at 2:21 - Double Click midi in piano roll > Press Q (or the Q button on the top bar above the piano roll)
Those midi sounds that Kenny got are pretty sweet. The lead keyboard with that pad behind it is a cool combo.
Your videos on Reaper are the best. Thank you.

You have a call on 2:52 LOL, thanks for great video
Dear Kenny, what is that keyboard under the transport panel, i saw it on every Video from You?...
It's the virtual keyboard.
No, this is not a Reaper Virtual Keyboard for sure...
Thanks for your video.
How do you get faders rather than the small knob on your individual tracks
I like that melody. :)
Just great!!
great video as always, how do u get that big piano in screen?
Thank You, Kenny! Very helpful, man!
what a great video, thanks a lot man
Thanks for this
What about if i am quantising drums I've played.
In certain sections of the songs I'll be playing a mixture of 8th,16th and 32nd notes.
Select the notes separately
Thank Kenny.
Great explanation, thanks!
As you can tell, that's pretty sloppy😂😂😂 man's should see my keyboard roll
Thanx...crystal clear!
Thank you!

I feel like this is a kinda stupid question, but this only works with midi, right? not audio?
There's no such thing as a stupid question. If you don't know, you don't know.. But yes, it wil only work with midi.

Is there any option to record already in quantized mode, like Ableton Live? Really sucks to quantize every single recorded midi...

That fixed it. Thanks again Leslie
Thanks!

When i click quantize, nothing happens.. It's driving me mad.. Now i have to learn how to play..
Are you sure you're selecting all your midi notes? I was having a similar problem because I'm new to this DAW.
@@danjwalker Yep
@@simonvanderheijden432 because it depends on what type of quantification you get in regard of your notes.

Keny, thanks for your tutorials, but please hire a voice actor to read a text to it. Your voice and the way you speak simply doesn't do.
