  • Three years after our first Route 66 Wet Shave experience, HairCut Harry returns to Seligman, AZ to finally get a haircut and American history lesson from the Guardian of U.S. Route 66, Angel Delgadillo, who explains to us all the problems in this country and how we the people can continue to keep America a great place to be!
90-year old barber and founder of Historic Route 66 of Arizona, Angel Delgadillo, gives us all a lesson in life!!
Filmed at Angel and Vilma’s Route 66 Gift Shop and Barbershop located on historic Route 66 in Seligman, Arizona. Angel is a founder of the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona, established in 1987 to campaign for "Historic Route 66" signage on the former US highway; similar initiatives have since been established in every U.S. Route 66 state.
Open 7-days a week, so stop by and say hello to Angel!!
    Delgadillo's Route 66 Gift Shop, 22265 Historic Rte 66, Seligman, AZ 86337.
Check out our first visit to Angel when I get a “Classic Old Time Wet Shave by the Guardian Angel of Route 66 - Seligman AZ ” - • 💈 Classic Old Time Wet...

"- What did you do during those 10 years?

    - It's a good thing I have a wife that knows how to make new clothes out of old ones. It's a good thing that I have a wife that knows how to wash clothes: they lasted 10-15 years. It's a good thing that I have a wife that knows what to do with leftovers. Some of the best meals I ate at home, like this morning, were leftovers from yesterday."
I literally cried when Mr. Delgadillo explained how he and his wife managed to survive during those long 10 years of hardship while being forgotten by the people who once used to pass through his town. It's just great how people like him can explain these sort of things with such a huge wisdom and such a strength to have a smile on their face when recalling those memories.

I get tears in my eyes watching this gentleman. My grandfather was a barber in Atlanta , Georgia before I was born. He gave me my first haircut when I was 6 months old. I spent a lot of time in his barbershop. I watched in awe when he preformed his art. He treated each customer as if they were the most important person in town. Watching him give hot shaves with his straight razor was always a special treat for me. I miss him and that barbershop so much. If I could go back in time, that is exactly where I’d go.

Mr Delgadillo reminds me of my grandfather. Most of us think the older generation only brags about how things were hard for them but all I've learnt from him is that things never really get easier. He used to talk about and compare the changes he saw as the world rolled before him. How life always found and will continue to find a way to challenge you. Only the tools change, only the perspective changes but the rules of life remain the same. When Mr. Delgadillo talks about his past, I remember how my grandfather would talk about the simple commodities he experienced in life and the beauty he felt in them. He was the most simple, faithful and caring man I have ever known. Though my father tells me about the stuff he told him, I just wish I myself had spent a bit more with him.
Thank you for gifting me my ideals, Baba.
We miss you and have, do and will always remember what you taught us.
And thanks for the brilliant vid, Harry. As always a pleasure to be able to watch gems like this. I'm only 19 but I hope I get to hit Seligman and meet it's Angel some day.

So much wisdom comes from our elders, we need to slow down enough in our lives to listen and learn from them. Great video. Thanks.

Jocelyn Reyes yes absolutely. I'm kind of emotional when it comes to seeing people being hurt. The older I'm getting the more I Love people I don't even know.

One thing I can tell you is to listen to this man. Listen to the “old people” because they will teach you so much about life. Their value is so great and to often it is overlooked. He makes me want to be a better person.

Sadly ... "listening to old people" and to "tales from decades ago" will get you called REGRESSIVE and worse these days, when it is simply "learning from the past".

I think a better way to look at this is to listen to those who deserve to be listened to. Just because someone’s old doesn’t all of a sudden give them all the good values and intentions in the world. Same goes for treating those with respect who deserve respect.

I very much enjoy listening to your wisdom of history. I also enjoy how effortless you make a perfect haircut and shave appear.
I talk to my daughters like adults, not children. Just as my family did for me. I was lucky to have grandparents from the depression who talked to me, and gave me this same wisdom you give your customers and viewers. My parents were of the same school of thought and work ethic. I thank you sir, very much.
