Thanks so much! This was my question. I'm going to get some wrist weights on the weekend. Your explanation of the ankle really helped me. Whenever I watch ballerinas do incredibly long balances on instagram I can always see their ankles wobble just a little. I think I am tensing everything which doesn't allow my body to adjust to tiny movements like breathing. I'm excited to try your tips! Thanks again.

Where did the image come from with all the foot types and shoe types? That looked really helpful!

I recently started pointe and was hoping someone can answer my question. After watching this and applying the tips it does help a little HOWEVER when I do on my left foot, it’s excruciating, stabbing pain in my toes. Is this something that goes away as you get stronger or am I doing something wrong?

i think this depends where you are feeling your pain... is the pain in your skin on the tops and side of your toes? if so, have you developed calluses yet?
usually once you get the hard skin on your toes, this pain goes away. it can be a brutal few weeks to months before you get to that point, but the body does eventually get used to it.
if the pain feels like digging in the tips of your toes, you might need to cut your toenails a bit shorter.
if the pain is in the joints, then you might need to take a closer look at your foot and your pointe shoe... i'm not a professional fitter, but its possible that your left foot is a slightly different shape or size than your right foot. but if you chose a shoe based on your right foot only, that would explain why your left foot is having a much different feeling.
