Annie Lennox is one of the greatest singers of all time. I recommend checking out their songs “Here Comes the Rain Again”, “Would I Lie to You?” and “Who’s That Girl”
"Sweet Dreams" was written by The Eurythmics about their previous experience at trying to make it in the music business. They had gotten screwed out of money by record companies, contracts were nullified and they had been unceremoniously dropped from labels. They were broke, living in squalor and forced to co-habitate even though they had gotten divorced. "Sweet Dreams" was the song that put them on the map and made Annie Lennox and this music video iconic.
Annie Lennox is amazing. “here comes the rain again”, “would i Lie to you?” Are great Eurythmics songs. Here solo hits, “why” , “walking on broken glass” and “No more I love you’s” are great as well.
Would I lie to you. Completely different side of them from the almost dreamlike quality of Sweet Dreams. Which is unfortunate, because I really want to recommend Who's that girl, but it doesn't differ enough, sound wise, to give the best feel for the variety of what they did.
Annie Lennox is a shapeshifter kinda like David Bowie was. Always evolving, always different, always exquisitely artistic and dramatic. She's still doing it, too. Also, Annie Lennox is one of the great vocalists EVER, not just the '80s. The woman is AMAZING and Dave Stewart is a genius as well.
Honestly, comparing Annie Lennox to David Bowie is probably the most apt comparison I've ever heard for her. I was just thinking, before coming to the comment section, that she's basically the female version of Bowie and how lucky I am to have lived in a time when both were alive and performing.
After Freddie Mercury died, there was a tribute concert. The Queen hit, Under Pressure was performed - most suitably - by David Bowie and Annie Lennox.
Rock Hall of Fame Songwriters Hall of Fame More than 80 million albums sold Dave is a prolific producer. Annie’s solo career was epic and included her winning a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by Female and an Oscar for best song.
One of the very best acts/duo's of the 80's... period. This might be the most requested song, but it is not even their best song, it's just one of their (many great) songs. My personal favorite is probably "Here comes the rain again", or maybe "Would i lie to you" or maybe "Who's that girl", or maybe "Missionary man", or maybe... you get the idea, they got many great songs for you to discover, so... dear Aileen, go explore them, you will find they made songs for any and all situation and emotion you can think of, a true 80's gem.
She and David Bowie did an awesome cover of the Queen song 'Under Pressure' for the Tribute concert of Freddy Mercury. You should check that out soon when she is fresh in your ears.
When Peter Jackson created the LOTR movies, he intentionally saved the final theme, the place of honor, for none other than Annie Lennox. The man has exquisite taste in everything. 🥂 "Into The West" is the closing song. Absolutely gorgeous.
Love Is a Stranger is a perfect follow-up to this. You get more Annie Lennox being a total badass ice queen with her singular iconic voice and intimidating looks, as well as some darkly savage but beautifully poetic lyrics.
Annie’s voice is amazing!! The song is about the music industry and what Annie & Dave went through to get their voices and songs heard. Sweet Dreams…. Thank You for reviewing, enjoying your channel, Merry Christmas!
One of the best voices around with lots of great songs in their catalog. "Here Comes The Rain Again" is a great one to try next, but they have many great ones.
As always, I enjoy your heartfelt comments and your thoughts about the music. Once admitted to the soul, music becomes a spirit and different feelings for everyone, and how it moves you never dies. Thanks for all your hard work and commentary.
Can't help but think how many times this very song has been covered by other artists & bands over the many years. Just so many. That's how timeless this song is.
Aileen, what a great reaction, you were pretty much spot on with the meaning of this song and the video. It's about the music industry, the cattle in it represent just that, how the music companies treat their artists like cattle. The Eurythmics were Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart, other songs by them which I recommend are: "Love Is a Stranger", "Here Comes the Rain Again", "There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart)", "Who's That Girl?", "Would I Lie to You?", "Thorn in My Side". There are many more great tracks by them, but these are good ones to continue with and give a good overview of their work.
Hey Aileen - Its so AWESOME that you are enjoying Pop from the '80's I saw Annie here and what an EXTRODINARY event. She & David Rocked the joint!! Merry Xmas to you, your loved ones an to all of your FANTASTIC Followers. Cheers from Vancouver, Canada🙂
Brilliant at the start with The Tourists and still brilliant. Think you would really enjoy the official video of 'Would I lie to you' with the group on stage, would go in a blink if they ever toured again, although my favourite song remains 'Love is a Stranger' and has to support another epic video. Many thanks for sharing your excellent insight on things I never even thought about in all the years of listening :)
Personally, my favourite song of theirs is "There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart). Annie Lennox really lets her voice unfold in this one and it just reminds me of sunny childhood mornings.
This song always takes me back to being a 16 year old boy, babysitting with my 15 year old girlfriend in Scotland. I brought the cassette tape of their album "Touch". Great memories!
One of the best UK bands of all time. Usually Annie doing all the vocals and Dave on instruments. They progressed from new wave and synth pop into mainstream rock and pop. Check out 'Who's That Girl', 'Here Comes The Rain Again', 'There Must Be An Angel' and their absolute banger 'Would I Lie To You?'
Well said, unique voice. And at the time it sounded nonstop from everywhere: radio, televisions, cassette players... 🤔I don't remember if Walkmans had already been invented at that time. 😊...
I had the great fortune of being a teenager when MTV debuted. This song was at the forefront of the music video revolution. A great song that influenced and challenged my young sensibilities. Truly a wonderful song and a fantastic reaction. Merry Christmas!
My favorite song of all time, glad you could hear it. Other recommendations are good, I personally would add "Little Bird". I love the meaning in the song.
Long time lurker, love your reactions, always amazing to see new reactions to the things I grew up with. Annie Lennox is an icon of androgeny alongside David Bowie, not to mention amazing voice, she's quite unique sounding. 2 suggestions, "Who's that girl" has an amazing video with lots of cool 80s cameos, and for more of Annie, she did full "full steam ahead" as a Collab, or her version of "I put a spell on you", from the 50 shades of grey ost. Always glad to see more content from you Aileen, cheers.
One of the best and most unique voices ever. When you think about it, if it’s wasn’t for the bands of the 60s, 70s and 80s what the hell would today’s artist sample from. These people actually wrote their own music. Love to watch you react to artists you have never heard before. Merry Christmas!
Great reaction! The Eurythmics were a musical revelation when they hit the scene. Combining soul, R&B, synth-pop, and New Wave elements into this glorious mixture, with Annie's incredible vocals and Dave's brilliant musicianship. So many songs of theirs to check out, plus Annie's solo work, plus Dave's work as a writer/producer/collaborator with a bunch of other artists. My fave Eurythmics songs are "Here Comes the Rain Again" and "Would I Lie to You." Annie's solo song "No More I Love You's" is beautiful; Dave can be seen in the Tom Petty video for "Don't Come Around Here No More," a song he co-wrote with Petty.
Eurythmics have so many hits. Amazing voice, saw them in concert in the early '90s, they were incredible. Make sure to check out all their albums and her solo career.

Lots to dive into the ocean here. ( One of their lines in another song). Annie Lennox has a great voice and she tramed up with the soul voice of Aretha Franklin in "Sisters Are Doing It For themselves". My faves are "Would I Lie to You" & "Who's That Girl". 😊😊
One of my favorites from Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart. Thanks for the 80's memories from my younger days, Ms. Aileen. Peace and love, Little Darlin'. Catch ya on the next. Keep em coming. Later.
Every time I hear this song I am transported back to the dawn of the music video age. This got played on Friday Night Videos every week, not to mention MTV. Soundtrack of the early to mid 80s? This is on it.
I’ve only ever heard covers of this song so now getting to see you react to the original makes that much better 🙂↕️ Those little eyebrow wiggles and your dancing in the chair is the cutest thing, Bestie 😭🖤
This song is the engine of their success. Right Around the same time the musician Dave Stewart (keyboard and rhythm) hooked up with Stevie Nicks (of Fleetwood Mac fame). The result of that connection was Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers song ‘Don’t Come Around Here No More”. Per sonally I love tangential stuff like that. 🫠
After hearing this, listen to the Marilyn Manson cover of it. Not every band can truly do covers, but Marilyn Manson does excellent covers. I'm not saying it's better than the original, but it is very good with a different flavor.
Annie Lennox is also the voice (and composer, with Howard Shore) that brought us "Into the West", from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. It is the end credits song at the end of "Return of the King."
The Eurythmics were Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart from the UK. This song was huge when I was in my junior high years. Annie Lennox is phenomenal, do check out her music and achievements. "WHY" is another great song of hers to experience. Most beautiful song ever recorded is Annie singing the soundtrack release of "INTO THE WEST". Great pick for a reaction, Aileen! More please!
Catch their official music video of LOVE IS A STRANGER. Annie solo has a lot of great recordings; WHY, WOULD I LIE TO YOU, WALKING ON BROKEN GLASS, and her cover of Bob Marley's WAITING IN VAIN immediately come to mind. Her 'W' songs seem to be great.
Annie Lennox is an incredibly talented songwriter and artist. One of my favorites is the song "Into the West' which she wrote and performed for Lord of the Rings, and for which she won an Academy Award. I would also recommend her performance of Under Pressure with David Bowie at the tribute/memorial concert for Freddie Mercury. Love this song and loved your reaction!

Annie Lennox is one of the greatest singers of all time. I recommend checking out their songs “Here Comes the Rain Again”, “Would I Lie to You?” and “Who’s That Girl”
No More "I Love You's" as well...
There Must Be an Angel in there too!
.... but "Why"?
Agree🤘🤘
I would add 'Love Is a Stranger'
40 years later, this is still completely fantastic. Here comes the rain again is an absolute must.
Agree on both accounts!

I think you'll find they were never married though they did date for a few years before they even formed The Eurythmics.
Annie Lennox is amazing. “here comes the rain again”, “would i Lie to you?” Are great Eurythmics songs. Here solo hits, “why” , “walking on broken glass” and “No more I love you’s” are great as well.
