    I'm so thankful that youtube brought you up on my computer. I've jsut received my needle felting kid and this will be my first project, before I will try the bigger sheep. I'm very interested in making sheep and angora goats. I hope to watch many more of your projects. You are just excellent in explaining. Thank you so much.

      OMG! Love these! I had never seen that breed of cow until a couple years ago! University of Michigan had some! Wading in the pond as it was 95 degrees! They’re beautiful little creatures! Well, maybe not little!

    Beautiful!!! I've found if you bend the ends of the pipe cleaners over just a tiny bit, the ends are blunt and you don't have to worry about sharp ends, just a thought if you wanted to try it. Thank you for sharing!!

    Thank you for telling me how much you charge and how long it takes to do. You made me realise that I need to focus on doing this as a hobby to relax instead of focusing on it as a side hustle!

    • @feltsbyphilippa
      @feltsbyphilippa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's definitely possible as a side hustle, I don't do commissions at present as they do take time and effort. It's much easier to make what you enjoy and sell. It's now my part time job but I do several passive earners by teaching felting too as I couldn't felt enough for a full time income x

    This is fascinating. I’ve never tried felting but can see so many possibilities. If I can make a recommendation, it’s to cut out the music as it really detracts from the video and what you’re saying (the fast pace of the music is also tension-inducing).

    I looked up how to do a goat and came across this video I'll do a sheep shape but add horns lol, I'd just ordered wire and clay to do horns as I don't know what I'm doing lol but your idea is so much better using pipe cleaners, I learned needle felting the other day as bought a beehive pack from home bargains then I ordered goat colours and black to make goats and my black cat, thanks for this video I can't wait till my stuff arrives

    Oh my gosh, these are the cutest! My college daughter and I are obsessed with the highland cow and would like to make a mini cow our first project. We are headed to Scotland in mid March; excited to see them in person too. I don't know if I can purchase the supplies in my town, is there someplace you have a list of supplies for a beginner to make two little cows that we could buy online? I'd like to work on simultaneously with her once she goes back to school next week. Your videos are amazing, just need a bit more guidance since this is our first project. thanks!

      @@feltsbyphilippa I thought I'd sent a followup message, but don't see it now. Those are super cute, but was hoping for us both to start on the small highland cows with legs and long hair, not the seated ones with swooped over hair. We will be in two locations, so would need two sets of starter items (needles, finger protectors, etc) Is there a way for you to create two kits for us with all needed items to buy on Etsy? I feel like that would be a great jumpstart for us....we live in a small city, so not sure where to even buy things locally. Doesn't have to be packaged as beautifully like your other kits are.

    • @feltsbyphilippa
      @feltsbyphilippa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That was a recent question on a facebook group I follow - you can use different fibres, not the same look and feel but still possible. There are polyester, acrylic, bamboo, silk, cotton, cat hair, alpaca, yak, angora, possibly more. Most people are allergic to the Lanonin in wool so it's possible to wear a mask and latex gloves and still felt maybe. I would call your wool supplier and ask what they have. I use World of Wool, UK and they have some vegan options, so obviously they are not wool. Hope that helps, it's a fab craft so worth investigating x

      Glad you like them, I use World of wool alot, you have to get carded wool for the base and legs, then look at the tops for the coat colours for the Highland Cow. The curly wool is from Amazon, just search curly wool locks and plenty should come up, a Teeswater breed is quite cheap or Lincolnshire long wool. • @feltsbyphilippa

      I mainly use merino from World of wool and I've never had this problem but I have had other people mention it. I guess if you go for a fibre with a higher micron, it will be thicker and less likely to mat.
