It’s their job to know who the player is and they don’t want to risk their jobs on an unknown quantity. Almost exclusively, people don’t get in trouble for saying no. Being wrong on a no is usually forgiven or forgotten way easier than being wrong on a yes, even in equal measure.
I dunno, Aiyuk is probably one of the 3 or 4 best route runners in the entire league. BTJ looks solid on the limited route tree he runs but that is a pretty big leap.
It’s called fitting the offensive playbook and if he’s lining up as x y z or h-back route tree is different from all position he was needed where he was at because of the talent on LSU he is also speaking on potential of the receiver.
