    I had a JD L130 with 23 hp Kohler engine --only changed air Filter maybe 3 times in 13 years, always kept foam outer filter clean and blew out paper filter. In all those years, the Kohler engine never used a drop of oil. Upgraded to a Z500R JD mower just Recently, hope that it will last like my old mower....

    Just broke my oil filter wrench trying to get the factory installed oil filter off. How the hell do I get this thing off.

      @@JohnDeereFire your engineering department.When I change my oil , it should not pour from the oil filter all over the frame of the mower. You manufactured the frame with an indention.That's big enough to hold the oil that pours out of the filter when you remove it, But I'm wondering why you didn't just go ahead and pop.A hole through the frame so that the oil could drain down into the PAN.Instead of all over the Mower. As many people as I hear need jobs.I'm not sure why you are having a problem.Finding people who can design things properly.

    I have the Z235, the drain hose on mine is a few inches shorter than this and only makes it to the very edge of the frame so you can't point it downward whatsoever

      klutch14u I agree. I have a z225 and it just pours all over the deck. Bad design. I fitted a extension hose on mine.

    I just bought a John Deere Z515E today. I need to know what oil and oil filter kit I need to get when I change the oil in it. Can you tell me?

    • @JohnDeere
      @JohnDeere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the question, Bcroft 68! The compatible oil for your Z515E ZTrak™ Mower is JD Hy-Gard™ oil. A maintenance kit which includes an air filter, fuel filter, oil filter, oil change label, 10W30 engine oil quart and spark plug is available for your unit under part number LG268. For further information on service intervals and specifications, check Section 29 of your Operator's Manual. You may be able to find your Operator's Manual online at techpubs.deere.com. Your local dealer would also be happy to help. You can find your closest dealer at Deere.com/Dealer. We hope this helps!

    How do you change the oil on a z-turn 777 if it has no factory oil drain where is the bolt

  • @Acein3055
    @Acein3055 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Not a good video. If you don't put a heavy plastic sheet under the mower, you'll be sorry. Also the oil drain tube is too short.

      You got the old model the new one improves all that

      @@fadefrees3729Well this mower is thousands of dollars and the people who designed it likely have college degrees. I'm glad to hear that they eventually realized that, But when I pay 4000 and something dollars for a mower, I'm kind of expecting. The Consumable parts of the engine that have to be changed regularly, plugs, wires, oil et cetera should not be difficult to access or deal with. If that is an idea that it takes them 2 tries to get right.I would say there's some firing that needs to go on around the engineering department.

    The owners manual says 2 quarts of oil. That is too much and will ruin an engine!! Check the dip stick level when filling!

    Video is fine and informative. But why demonstrate a oil change on that perfect driveway? No cardboard/tarp. I'd bet 1000$ that there were oil stains after the Video was made.

    • @mikejoyce7157
      @mikejoyce7157 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some paperwork says 1.75 quarts.
      Some paperwork says 2.0 quarts. I'm guessing this is with an oil filter change.
