@@scottykilmer3920 hey Scotty, then why all Toyotas :) are equipped with iridium spark plugs since at least 15 years ago :) and they are equipped from the factory with OEM plugs which for longevity (115K miles recommended replacement interval) has ticker central electrodes. I suppose the Ozzie guy replaced copper plugs ( 2.5 mm diameter central electrode ) with so called performance plugs ( 0.4mm diameter central electrode for Denso iridium TT and 0.6mm for NGK ) they are sold only as aftermarket performance plugs and their lifespan is around 60K miles. So because of the sharp central electrode , with Denso iridium TT , the breakdown voltage in the spark gap drops down by 3-5 KV . If the engine doesn’t have RPM feedback stabilisation loop or it is disabled the idle RPMs increases without doing anything else than replacing the cooper plugs with iridium ones . Haw you going to comment this fact ? Iridium spark plugs are also cooper simultaneously by the way since both the central electrode and the ground strap still has cooper cores for better heat transfer and wider heat range ,only the fine tips are platinum, iridium , rhodium, ruthenium, e.t.c. precious metals .
Ozzie , I believe in your claims because I have the same experience .For even better performance you can do two more things. First if your ignition system was initially designed to work with cooper plugs ,you can safely increase the recommended for them spark gap by 0.2 mm when replacing them with iridium ones ( especially with Denso Iridium TT ) . Second, index them by selecting one of few spark plugs for every single cylinder which , when tighten properly faces ( with the open side of the spark gap) the exhaust valve or the middle between exhaust and intake valves ( this for 2 valves per cylinder engines ) . For 4 valve per cylinder engines ( the effect of this procedure is a bit weaker but still works)the openings of the spark gaps can be pointed to front or back side of the engine ( both orientations works equally well ).

You are not correct. Need a better self-explanation? Just try to set the spark plug gap between iridium and then in a conventional plug, and come back here to discuss. The gap will be maintained at least let's say lakh km, and you will never be bothered by the spark plug issue, also helping to reduce the spark coil voltage required. Also, you can increase 0.2mm of gap against factory recommended level in iridium plug, whose voltage requirement would still be less than conventional, by this way you might also get better efficiency with slightly higher mileage. I have done multiple experiment with it in my K10 engine, and it glides very smooth on iridium(NGK DXPR7EIX).
