    This new X1 looks awesome, and is the best of the ‘premium-badged’ small SUVs.

    Dual clutch transmissions typically don't shift smoothly, especially at lower speeds. A dual clutch is performance oriented and is found in high performance sports cars and super cars. However due to the super quick shifts it provides it can give the feeling of responsiveness, which is why I think they are introducing them in low horsepower small displacement engines, which might be prone to feeling underpowered if mated to a normal torque converter automatic. It's a short cut to making a small engine feel powerful without modifying the engine, methinks.

      Wish I knew before I bought it. The transmission is rough . The occasional 2 second delay from stop to go is almost a safety issue. Very annoying !

      @nite4404 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ccwuhccwuh that's not the transmission, that's the engine stop/start that's. Set it to sports mode or disable engine stop/start and its much more responsive at stops

    I'm not readjusting my perspective on pricing, I'm waiting for the OEMs to adjust their pricing to my view... translation, drop you prices!!!! Thanks Jodi. I actually think the X1 is a better option than the X3 now.

    Yes, the X1 has rear cross traffic alert and forward crash warning. But these warnings are very low key, easily missed, and cannot compare with similar warnings in, for example, Toyota cars.

    Everyone complains about the climate controls not being hard buttons. Everyone complains about the start/stop not being a hard button and not remembering your selection. Everyone complains about hard piano black plastics. Everyone keeps complaining about interior infotainment and gauge clusters that are literally like iPads glued to the dash. Everyone has been complaining about these things for years and years!
    Yet mind bogglingly every manufacturer keeps doing these things!! I would love to meet an automotive designer or engineer and ask them whether they are taking stupid pills every morning.

    58k for an entry level SUV is kinda "obscene" in my opinion

    I bought a 2023 X1 28iX MSport about 3-4 months ago.
    By far, the best / most enjoyable car I’ve ever had.
    Much more sensitive handling than a (Q3), for example.
    Everyone bitches about the Start/Stop. I find that annoying in any car.
    The dash cam is a subscription model…
    This review is trash. Absolutely not comprehensive.

      @@autotrader_ca oh well... at least the BMW X1 that I ordered back in November is just 2 days from arriving at the port. 😍 Hopefully, it will finish processing and arrive at my BMW dealer one week after that. I've owned both Lexus and Mercedes over the last 28 years. This will be my very first BMW. I picked the X1 over other small/medium SUVs after very careful consideration and multiple test drives.(no easy feat, since only 1 BMW dealer near me had a demo X1 back in November)

      @nite4404 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@S_Paoli you'll love it. my only real gripe from owning one is the start/stop engine feature. Jodi is right, it really is rough. It's become second nature to toggle it off though, plus you can create a shortcut to it on the drop down screen which cuts having to dig into the menus

    • @S_Paoli
      @S_Paoli ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nite4404 I'm going to the dealer in 5 hours to pick it up. Can't wait! :) I've waited almost 6 months for it. During all this time, I continued to shop around but never saw another car that I wanted more than the X1.(looks, price, performance, etc) Sure, there are a couple of others that I dont' mind having, but they are at least $5000 to $7000 more than the X1 with the same features and options that I wanted. :)

      @@autotrader_ca the new 2023 X1(U11) comes in FWD(sDrive) as standard in all countries, with optional AWD(xDrive). Except for the US/Canada market, where they only offer it in the AWD version. 😍 And yes, it still shares the UKL2 chassis, which is used by BMW 1-series, 2-series, X1, X2, and yes, the current Mini Countryman. Nothing wrong with that at all. :)
