As a Dane, I know a bit about the old Norse mythos and also the language. The points you are trying to make that Marvel takes a lot from the Norse mythology, but diverges are all fine. However using the version of the Norse mythos presented in God of War as your 'reference' to prove your point is not ideal, as that is also a unique interpretation by a franchise. Odin was the God of Wisdom, Death and Kingship and he did not torture Mimir. He brought him back to life and had him watch over the well of wisdom after Mimir's severed head was returned to the Aesir, when the Vanir broke their truce. Mimir was one of the war hostages exchanged to maintain the peace, this was a common strategy to maintain alliances in the viking age. Now back on topic, why is Thor called the God of Thunder? The word thunder derrives from an old norse word. In Danish and Norweigian it's Torden, in Swedish Tordön and in Icelandic something along the lines: Brumuvedur. All of these have something in common, even the last one. The Icelandic word for thunder is the closest to the old Norse and essentially are made of two parts. Brumu, which is a sound word for a deep, rumbling sound (like thunder) while vedur means weather. For the other three languages the 'den' part of the word is also a reference to the sound word 'drøn', which means a loud, booming sound (again like thunder). The first part: Tor in Swedish, Danish and Norweigian are all actually references to Thor, meaning: Torden essentially means Thor's 'drøn' or Thor's boom. In short: Thunder is named after Thor, not the other way around, which is a common misconception. Lightning was thought to be the sparks that flew from the hooves of his goats as they gallopped across the sky and whenever he swung the hammer. And while lightning with modern eyes seems to be the more formidable power, the thunder was the important part to the Vikings, as that was the sound that scared away all the Jotun and the Trolls that would otherwise run around in Midgard unchecked. On top of that, Thor was not just the God of Thunder. He was the God of the sky, storm, valor, strength and fertility as well, and Unlike Odin he did not require human sacrifices. He valued human hospitality and enjoyed sharing bread and stories with ordinary folk, while he protected them from all the creatures that they feared. Because of this, even though Odin was the King of the Aesir, Thor was the most beloved of them all.

I don’t think Mjolnir on its own would conjure lightning, nor would it in the hands of Hela. I believe it channels the powers of whoever wields it. In the hands of Thor, it therefore allows him to control lightning, until he learned to control it himself (possibly as you said after Odin died he inherited some of his power). Personally I believe the God names are simply the titles given to certain Asgardians by the humans, possibly other species too, when they were worshipped as Gods due to their power. Thor was worshipped as the ‘God of thunder’ by the vikings, and I guess it’s just stuck as a sort of nickname on Asguard. Odin even says in Thor 2 “we are not Gods. I think that if Thor can be able to aim for thanos gauntlet, spider Man can web the gauntlet together with the other arm and Iron Man to blast the gauntlet and I spider man can take and throw it up then Iron Man can blast it together with the Infinity stones
In Thor ragnarok we can clearly see Thor use his lightning powers on the bridge of the 9 realms and later in infinity use his lightning powers to a greater extent while wielding stormbreaker. This is because the metal the weapons are made of channel magic power to make it stronger
@@localgeographic1425 sorry I made a mistake in my wording, hela had it before thor ever got it its shown in the ceiling painting if I'm not mistaken, but she was never implied to have used lightning in the past and in fact it would seem pretty useless to her with her power set so it would make more sense to have mjolnir as a force amplifier

Uhhh Laufey was a woman Loki’s mother in fact His mother was not the common asgardian frigg Btw everyone in Asgard is aiser which mean they are all gods. How do you mention Norse mythology and god of war who also very deeply deviates from the true stories bc hero’s and villains and good guys and bad guys are made up words that never apply to anything in Norse mythology Marvel skips over that frigg is possibly the vanir goddesss freya who taught Loki vanir magic which Odin wanted to learn. The marriage to Odin was to end the war between giants and aiser. If they are good people in Norse mythology freya would def be one of them But freya is not only Loki’s real mother but she’s not Thor’s. She had a son named baldur who was the golden child that united the aiser and the giants and was the son heavily favored over Thor and Loki. Thor isn’t really mentioned as having any power without his hammer which in depictions looks more like a lightening rod that used electricity as a weapon. It definitely was not a melee weapon. So this slaughtered enemies and giants as well as fucking them. Even killed good innocent people of Midgard. Thor was odins answer of how he could gain a foothold in Midgard. Odin has a child w the titan we know as Mother Earth or Gaia. This was so Thor could be powerful in Midgard so Odin could rule it. Now god of war terribly misconceives frost giants like Loki and his mother. Giants were known to eat people and be slaves to their darkest desires but again freya was not like that. The word giant isn’t the way we use it It’s trying to describe someone that’s a hero w special powers and abilities. Where Odin fought with knowledge and technology the giants fought w old magic and forces older then time that were long forgotten. Norse mythology is the beginning mythology that became Greek mythology You have to realize odin rules in Norse and his son is the god of thunder - yes the sound the power and influence and destructive force In Greek mythology it just so happens that the ruler of the gods is the god of thunder whose mother was also Gaia Is it the same being are Thor and Zeus the same legend? There a lot of things that are legends and forgotten stories that no one knows for sure anyway
Freya was a Vanir, who chose to become an Aesir after the war between the Aesir and the Vanir. She became the Goddess of love and spring, as well as war and she was married to Od. What she did not know was that Od was Odin in disguise, since he fancied her a lot, who slipped away during their wedding night, never to be seen again, as Od that is. She is the daughter of Njord, who is God of the sea and all its creatures and she is the sister of Frey, who is God of the harvest. As for Odin, his wife is Frigga, the Goddess of the Earth and wisdom, with whom he has 4 sons. Thor, God of thunder, strength and bravery is the oldest. Then there is Baldur, Hodur and Bragi. Bladur being the God of Light, Hodur not having a distinguished title and Bragi, who is the God of bards, songs and tales. Odin also had a son, Vidar with a giantess and Heimdall with the norns. Yes... Heimdall has multiple mothers. Loki is not related by blood to any of the Aesir, but he was Odin's 'blood brother' meaning they swore a bloodoath to be like brothers to each other.
Marianne Kelstrup thank Marianne. I’m sure there are legends that support her version of frig being freyas sister or another person but there are also legends that Odin did not want freya a vanir to get credit for any of the wonderful things she did for the aiser and vanir alike. The legend is that Odin acreditated things freya did in writing to frigg but they indeed are the same person. Other stories claim it was a pet name and that Odin truly did have a time when he loved her. But also counter legends that this was a ruse to gain her trust to learn the very old vanir magic he very much coveted and kept the giants very much equal to the aiser. Another legend says the entire marriage was done on self sacrifice to stop the war between the aiser and giants. There is no certainty which is more correct or what’s absolutely true but freya was not Loki’s actual mother that would make Loki vanir and he is clearly frost giant and son of fey or lauffey. In god of war 4 Loki’s father was farbuti if I’m remembering correctly which translates to “he who strikes” they use this narrative to say this is the name lauffey gave to Kratos Kind of really fits God of war really made their series great with their last title
Marianne Kelstrup I’m sorry but frigg was not Thor’s mother at all. Odin wanted power and Midgard so he had a son with a titan I’m Greek mythology known as Gaia or Mother Earth. I don’t think there’s any way to confuse that with frigg? I would say that neither the mcu or god of war give all the legend of Thor. Especially that he is not good or bad- really in Norse mythology everyone is both. Freya is a loving being but the vanir giants did a lot of horrendous things as well
They will go back in time, and fix everything. Loki finds out they go back in time, and they either send Loki back, to make the world just right, so they defeat Thanos.. Or Loki just runs away, By going back in time.

Thor did have control over lightning thunder and storms, pre-Mjolnir. Back when he had Jarnbjorn. Just wasn't as powerful or as widely used
holy shet i got a Chris Hemsworth Omaze ad while watching this video
The original mythology states that loki is odens blood brother and thors unkle who keeps a close eye on thor do to his temper.
They may not biffet thanos
It's 2.24 am and I'm still awake... 😴
I'll go to bed
Bruh. 2;45
They will snap him out of existence
No idiot that didn't happen and rip Spiderman he will get out of the soul stone
Bob Nelso I’m right I watched the movie
@@ezekielromero2712 and Thor didn't get snap out existence in the movie
Look Ironman snapped him out of existence
Thanos out of existence
I think that if Thor can be able to aim for thanos gauntlet, spider Man can web the gauntlet together with the other arm and Iron Man to blast the gauntlet and I spider man can take and throw it up then Iron Man can blast it together with the Infinity stones
I think that they are all going to team up to beat thanos.
Idk man doesn't sound plausible
They will defeat Thanos by shooting his ass back in time
Awesome vid btw keep it up you know
I think mjolnir is more of a force amplifier, we never see hella use lightning with the hammer we just see her use it
In Thor ragnarok we can clearly see Thor use his lightning powers on the bridge of the 9 realms and later in infinity use his lightning powers to a greater extent while wielding stormbreaker. This is because the metal the weapons are made of channel magic power to make it stronger
It maybe helped her control her powers
soundfxmaster hella doesn't use the hammer at all. She destroys it in her first scene.
They dont kill him they change his mind to return the snap. 😁👍
The hammer was used to control his power and he really never lost his powers they were always inside him
I think the avengers will deafeet thanos by time travel
Iron man will somehow get the stones, make him a suit that can use them, undo what Thanos did, and then get Thor to go for the head like he was supposed to.
They’ll snap their fingers to bring everyone back
How to deafet thanos : ironman comes hit thanos in the head stel hes infinity gauntletvan than snap
Iron Man will hold thanos then Thor Ragnarok will throw his lightning axe in his face.
No, Antman went tiny and went in DA THANOS A$$ THEN HE MADE HIMSELF GIANT-MAN THEN TORE THANOS APART.
Yo it's called time travel ant-man dose not do that
Never mind

With the Infinity Stones Thats how they gonna kill thanos
Sorry for da spoilers
KILLED BRUTALY
RIP THANOS (farmers live a tough life
They killed him twice first thor head cut his head off then him from the past got snapped by iron man and he turned to ash
They will defeat thanos with his own gauntlet
He will cut Thanos hand then head in Endgame
They would snap there fingers
The Avengers might have a greater threat
The hammer was To help channel your powers it did Not give you them - Odin
Iron Man used He’s gauntlet
Captain Marvel,Ant Man,and Hawkeye will help them and do the same thing they did on Titan.
Someone snaps there fingers
The avengers are going to win by time travel BRING ME THANOS 🤘🤘🤘
I think iron man is gonna defeat thanos because he’s retiring and he has to retire good. But I also think it’s gonna be Thor because his big bad storm breaker.
I think that tony is going to snap with the infinity gaultant
Hadley Williams whatttttt I had no idea
Dr strange brings everyone back to life and then ironman snaps him Away
oskiboski that’s in endgame
Also Iron Man snaps Thanos away
HOW U KNOW
How does doctor Strange being everyone back?
BBRacconPlayz I watched the movie
Tony Stark/ironman motors on it for Nicole I went back in time and collected all the stones
Go back in time and get the stones
That going to destroy thanos with captain marvel and maby time travel
Brono Plays maby?
The truth is he is not a god of thunder
He is a god of hammers
I think that the avengers will tell doctor strange to open a portal and chop thanos infinity gauntlet off.I thank that how it will go
The Hammer is too control Thor's power. The Hammer is not the source of it. Odin says it in Thor Ragnarok
Are you Thor the God of Hammer's ?
Nathan Jay.Halstead lmao but captain America somehow has Thor’s powers just by picking up his hammer
Because of Odin's enchant. Who ever holds this hammer, if he be worthy shall poses the power of Thor. Technically Captain America has had Thor's power since Age of Ultron.
poop jeans wait but it doesn’t make sense because Thor is the god of thunder and if cap has his power doesn’t that mean cap is like the second god of thunder?
@@torinhe5186 no, it doesn't make him the second God of thunder, because it was a title Odin gave to Thor.
poop jeans but if he has the exact same abilities as Thor he’s technically the same thing as Thor
Uhhh Laufey was a woman
Loki’s mother in fact
His mother was not the common asgardian frigg
Btw everyone in Asgard is aiser which mean they are all gods. How do you mention Norse mythology and god of war who also very deeply deviates from the true stories bc hero’s and villains and good guys and bad guys are made up words that never apply to anything in Norse mythology
Marvel skips over that frigg is possibly the vanir goddesss freya who taught Loki vanir magic which Odin wanted to learn. The marriage to Odin was to end the war between giants and aiser. If they are good people in Norse mythology freya would def be one of them
But freya is not only Loki’s real mother but she’s not Thor’s.
The word giant isn’t the way we use it
It’s trying to describe someone that’s a hero w special powers and abilities.
Where Odin fought with knowledge and technology the giants fought w old magic and forces older then time that were long forgotten.
Norse mythology is the beginning mythology that became Greek mythology
You have to realize odin rules in Norse and his son is the god of thunder - yes the sound the power and influence and destructive force
In Greek mythology it just so happens that the ruler of the gods is the god of thunder whose mother was also Gaia
Is it the same being are Thor and Zeus the same legend?
Lol I read all of this
Marianne Kelstrup thank Marianne.
In god of war 4 Loki’s father was farbuti if I’m remembering correctly which translates to “he who strikes” they use this narrative to say this is the name lauffey gave to Kratos
Kind of really fits
God of war really made their series great with their last title
Marianne Kelstrup I’m sorry but frigg was not Thor’s mother at all. Odin wanted power and Midgard so he had a son with a titan I’m Greek mythology known as Gaia or Mother Earth. I don’t think there’s any way to confuse that with frigg?
I would say that neither the mcu or god of war give all the legend of Thor. Especially that he is not good or bad- really in Norse mythology everyone is both. Freya is a loving being but the vanir giants did a lot of horrendous things as well
Thanos turns into dust
I think the avengers will defeat Thanos by going back in time and taking the infinity stones
It is true!
Iron Man mixed a new Infinity Gauntlet and takes the Infinity Stones and snaps
Hela didn't died in the movie
They will go back in time, and fix everything. Loki finds out they go back in time, and they either send Loki back, to make the world just right, so they defeat Thanos.. Or Loki just runs away, By going back in time.

in norse mythology thor didn’t inherit mjönir it was made directly for him by the dwarfs where loki turned into a fly to sabotage them and bit the dwarf in the eye which made the handle so short.
