I read reviews on the linked product page of laptops falling after a few months because the tape failed. I can't see how that is a good solution.
@@yvonneanthony7295 my laptop mount is screwed into the wood table. The Caldigit Hub is placed using command strips.

@@mahzapex I mean, if you want to have high quality video and have a DSLR lying around, there's no harm in using it. My point was focusing on a simple setup is often better than overcomplicating things.

I highly recommend getting your monitor speakers either off the desk or atleast get them on ear height. It'll really sound alot better (more accurate)

Ugh, this might be my dream work desk. Minimal and simple.
I have the 98” version of this desk top from ikea mounted on an autonomous sit stand base and that same chair, it’s used to run about $349 but they have HELLA jacked up the price recently. I went with the grey version of the Alex drawers to closer match the color of my studio walls.
Nice - I originally was going to buy that desk well, but I was building this during the lockdowns and it was difficult getting anything from IKEA at the time. Happy with the butcher block though!

Love it, except a few things i would change: im worried about the mac laptop overheating under your desk, i would say maybe a vertical stand behind the monitor is better, also I'm wondering if the vertical monitor is too far from the main one, understanding the studio monitors need to be somewhere, i personally bought speaker stands to help with this, cheers :)

Yo! Thank you! I built that on a whim with some scrap wood I had lying around. Honestly, I would look into the other mounting option I posted in the description. How did you setup the dual monitor with the Caldigit?
Did you have to use a hdmi to USB-C straight to the laptop?
I maxed out my Cadigit Hub - So yea I used an HDMI to USBC-C straight to my Macbook

How did you get the two external monitors to work with the MacBook? I thought I read somewhere that Macbook pro (2015 model) can only connect to one external. I take it this is a newer model?

Hey Kyle, love the setup, do you have a recommendation for a hub that will work with an M1 Macbook Pro?
I just bought a new m1 macbook pro and am still using my TS3 plus and it works fine. I plan to upgrade to their new model soon Ts4 i believe!

Careful with clamshell mode, if you're going to use MacBook for long hours or do extensive things like photo editing, software engineering, running 2 external monitors, etc. ... your MacBook screen has a high risk of getting damaged.
Laptop relieves lots of heat through the keyboard area as well as vents, so when you trap the heat with the screen, ... you do the rest of the thinking.
I thought about this as well, thought the idea is superb, but didn't want a damaged screen in the long run.
What I do is I keep the MacBook open, but put the brightness all the way down and in the back of my monitors 🤷🏽♂️

@@FlexerPivot The 16" macbook Def has a weakness in clamshell mode and external displays. I just purchased the M1 Max MBP. Curious to see if they fixed this problem/improved it.
