The Japanese VO in DMC4 is actually the dub in this case, DMC4SE is the first game in the series to have Japanese acting.

In the original Japanese version of Devil May Cry 4, Nero saying "Go blow yourself!" was only censored on the subtitles. I'm surprised they went a step further by bleeping it out on the Japanese dub!
I did not know this. I still prefer the Japanese track over the English regardless.

As much as I love the Japanese Dub, this is the one series I would stick to English.
I say DMC4 fit better in Japanese beacuse art style has more Anime look so it better in Japanese. However DMC5 sounds better in English then Japanese beacuse art style has more photorealism so fit better in English.
@@snknero9935 Yeah I agree, but since dmc 1 and 3 were ONLY in English, the shift from going from hearing Dante in English to JP was really weird.
@@andyho4048 I never understand why most other games never got a Japanese dub to Devil May Cry 4 special edition finally got a Japanese dub. Most Devil May Cry games have a Anime art style so why it only in English. Before you say Devil May Cry isn't that popular in Japan. Oh okay then how come Metal Gear Solid has a Japanese dub then it not popular in Japan as well. But yet it doesn't stop having for a Japanese dub. Capcom logic never make no sense.
@@snknero9935 thats something i dont really understand either, I'm pretty sure resident evil had the same thing, japanese studio but original voice acting is english. And yeah pretty much every dmc game except 5 is anime pretty much, maybe the developer liked western culture? The english VA for the main dudes (vergil nero and dante) are also their mocap so who knows

At 1st, i'm here just to compare the Lucifer scene XD
The only one that makes me chuckle is "Hageshi piston" part, unlike the English part where i laugh most of the time XD
Also Nero calling Dante "Ossan" or in english it's called "Old timer" which is quite funny.
There are some weird translation though like when Nero said "If i have to kill you to save Kyrie, then let's roll" into "Omae wo korosu, Kyrie o mamoru, sore dake da" which kinda translated as "Killing you, protect Kyrie, that's all there is to it". Why using Mamoru instead of Tasukeru that means "Save"? And why sore dake da instead of Ore ga yaru that means "I'll do it"? So even Japan fall in the same hole as English regarding mistranslation..... orz

I like Nero's both EN & JP Dub, but for Dante, love EN Dub more~
I know this is asking too much but could you please put the romaji of Dante's speech when he obtains Lucifer and the translation? My japanese is not very good and I can only get a few sentences but not the whole content xD

Honestly, Nero's Japanese voice doesn't sound nearly aggressive enough. Sure there are the bits where he growls and whatnot... But, still he doesn't sound like the aggressive punk that JYB made him into. He just sounds like a normal guy who occasionally growls when he's angry.

Yeah.. Ichigo from Bleach's Japan voice actor would've made a better job dubbing Nero in Japanese. But personally, I think this one did a pretty good job.

DMC4 is the first game to have Japanese dubbing. Iirc you can switch the language in the special edition
DMC1-3 have no Japanese dub. Only english audio

for me it's so weird to say but I'm with you on this one.
It's the original, DMC unlike other japanese games went with american voice actors, if I'm correct the original DMC4 only had english voices the japanese voices only came on the Special Edition years later
