    Great review, I was promising myself to stop buying watches for a while; because I have to buy a third watch box to accommodate them all. Well, this is out of the window after having seen this review of this wonderful Seiko watch. Damn it ! ! The wife will get a heart attack ! !

    Still have a Seiko5 from early 2000s... gunmetal military style. This is superior and about the same price after adjustment for inflation. Bear in mind the ‘auto’ discount you can get off recommended retail price. I think it is good value for what it is, a dependable good looking and practicable daily beater. And I just bought the same model with blue dial. Great on the wrist! Sure, Seiko could make improvements to it... but the base price would leap upwards... I have other brand watches at this price level and the Seiko has outperformed them all over the past 15+ years. And my first Seiko 5 still works like I bought it yesterday and it’s never been serviced!

    I think the Prospex tag might be a mistake on the retailer’s part 😅

    I have the exact same watch srpe53kx and I love it, right the bracelet isn't the best but its functional to say the least and you can change it out for a strap of your choice and I would love a sapphire crystal but other than that I love watch

    Very good review of this watch. I recently spent a lot of time looking for a new watch and settled on this model. I have a couple of other Seiko automatic watches so knew they are well made and reliable. I almost purchased a Tissot that was very similar in style to this watch but price tipped the scale to the Seiko. TY mh

    Agreed about the case and crown improvements. A bit pricey now but on the grey market might be a good value.

    I almost bought this watch but now the new Seiko 5 flieger style has caught my eye. I'm not a fan of sunburst dials as i find them distracting. The Seiko 5 flieger style watches have a a non shiny dial and bolder hands for better legibility .

    hello sir, i do love their size and dimensions but at least they should included sapphire crystal, solid end link and solid link bracelet for that price. if they want it to merge to the prospex line, they should make it a proper skx replacement like diver's 200m with screw down crown, saphhire crystal, solid end link, solid link and diver extension bracelet. if not then orient kamasu is the best option with more affordable price. that is just my humble opinion. thank you for this video and have a great day. cheers.

  • @kinspired9416

    Nice video. I've heard elsewhere that the Prospex tag might be something to do with Seiko having limited printed media supplies during lock-down. Not sure how much truth is in that but there's some logic to it given that, I'm pretty sure at least, the Seiko 5 line doesn't actually cross over with the Prospex line at any point.

    Got mine recently and noticed it does not say "Made in Japan" on the back case, should I be worried?

    • @EverydayWatchGuy
      @EverydayWatchGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some models are made in Malaysia for the North American market, not in Japan. Not much difference in quality, but some people prefer the Japan domestic watches. Cheers

    Probably there will be some haters in the comments. I think this watch looks great which is the most important thing. Seiko could have been lazy and just removed the bezel but no they resized it to a perfect 40mm for everyday wear. I like it.

    All seiko has to do is give the five a screwdown crown. Nothing else matters as much. Can't they see that there's nothing special about the date just or daydate. But with their basic formula they have made the perfect every day every situation watch. They just did it to better tolerance and quality. The five would rule the sub 300 market and kill any competition if they just give the five as it is but with a screwdown crown

    • @jonfavale
      @jonfavale 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why do you need a screw down crown on this? You can still go swimming or to the beach...

    • @rage8kage

      @@jonfavale frankly water resist rating is only good at the time of purchase. Deteriorate fast with use especially gaskets when exposed to salt water. Id personality Never go swimming with a watch that's rated under 100m. But then I only buy watches I really like and want to preserve

    $300 and no sapphire? I don’t think so, Orient offers watches below that with sapphire. If Hardlex has more benefits than sapphire as they have claimed they would put it on all there models including Grand Seikos. Hardlex scratches very easily, sapphire does not

    Seiko watches are getting more expensive with standard base movements and cheaper crystals and hit or miss bracelets. Not for me, I will stay with Citizen watches for a casual beater watch. 😷🇨🇦
