Rumble is Red, Frenzy is Blue. Decepticons are mean and mistakes their names on purpose. Autobots use cliche names, but Decepticreeps are on another level.
For me, Rumble is blue. The answer will always be based on first impressions. Mine was the cartoon. My old ass grew up watching this show back in the good ol' 1980s. I'll always remember my first Transformer toy. It was a red Bumblebee (Cliffbee?). And I remember one of my classmates having a yellow Cliffjumper (Bumblejumper?) toy. We used to race them down the slides during recess. Hooray for inconsistency!
Watch the scene in 1986 movie when Soundwave ejects the cassette robots in SLOW MOTION... Just before one of them says "First We Crack The Shell......" Both Rumble AND Frenzy are blue... I'm not kidding. I highly suspect they are both colours and can change them at will.
I thought it was because Rumb... the blue one switched sides in the comics after he deleted a human and traumatized himself, because he wasnt ready for the whole 'organs' thing we have going on. Although I might be remembering that wrong.
Rumble and Frenzy, red … blue, maybe we will never agree. But as a duo, can we agree that they are hands down better than the Bay Transformers Skids and Mudflap brothers?
Studio Series Bumblebee Concept Rumble is blue. Personally I'm of the opinion that Rumble and Frenzy swap color schemes to mess with people. It's usually animation errors. For instance: In the Autobot City sequence of the movie, an animation error puts Frenzy on the casetticon launch sequence twice; and then in the next shot one of them is Rumble. You even put that exact scene in this video as a screencap and I was surprised you didn't comment on it even as a joke, haha
Rumble is red, Frenzy is blue. Always go with the source material, which in this case is the toys. You wouldn't say the Wonder Twins were ever members of the Justice League just because they were in the cartoon. On the flip side of the coin, you would never claim "Thunder Kick Batman" was an official Batman suit just because they made a toy of that.
I guess at the end of the day..."source material" can be misconstrued as a fans first exposure to the character. Hence for cartoon people, he's blue :)
@StoriesFromTheToyshelf But then as you said, TF the Movie CARTOON switched the colour to what the toy was. So G1-wise its Toy-red, Comic-red, Movie-red, Cartoon-blue. 3 to 1
@tigerbread78 wasn't Rumble blue in the movie? Either way m not denying that red Rumbles have clearly outnumbered the blues, but the blue Rumble in the G1 cartoon is a BIG one, that served as the "first" Rumble to a huge chunk of TF fans including myself. And for us, it's enough to prefer our Rumble ro be blue. But either way both sides have strong and valid arguments :)

Rumble and Frenzy can change color at will and they do it all the time to mess with people.
Seems either can be right... But for me, like you, the cartoons came first. So Rumble is blue to me. I still have my 80s Blue one, and forever will be misprinted..
@@MatthewCaunsfield Rumble is blue, and that’s a fact. He is blue through out the entire show, the only times he isn’t is when there is an animation error. The toys were made before the show, therefor, they are not the final product.
@@ShadowWaveProductions Indeed, the toys (and comic) are the original product...the cartoon got it wrong. It's only a fact that Rumble is blue in the cartoon
For all of those watching Transformers gen 1 cartoons. We all know how screwed up they are. Red/Black Rumble. Blue/blue Frenzy. Just as Jetfire is the name, not Skyfire, even though Skyfire sounds better.
I do believe that changing Jetfire to Skyfire wasn't a mistake. It was a deliberate move to disassociate the character from the toy to avoid any issues with macross/robotech. I agree though that Skyfire is a better name :)
Rumble is *RED!* The cartoon made a mistake. A lot of fans refuse to admit that the animators mixed them up. There is even a scene in the cartoon where Rumble & Frenzy are BOTH BLUE. Which just shows that the animation is full of errors. And Skywarp = Cyclonus. Not Bombshell. Cyclonus was in the newest wave of Decepticon jets to take the place of the original jets. Most of the 86 line was meant to replace the older characters. JET to JET! Not JET to BUG.
Oh I think most FIRRIB fans acknowledge the initial mistake made. They also recognize that after Said mistake, they basically ran with it and he was consistently blue throughout the series since. But again both arguments ate valid in my opinion :) oh and yes I agree Skywarp= Cyclonus :)
I'm a cartoon fan first, but I only care about the debate whenever only one version is released as a toy and it's only the red/black one, even though the blue/purple one is who got the most spotlight time.
Rumble will always be blue for me because the cartoon pretty much fueled my imagination and gave these characters life. Btw, it's not the only mix-up between robot brothers. Sidewipe & Sunstreaker's bio cards have always been flipped and the cartoon had to make up for it. Lol Gotta love it!
Yeah same with me on Rumble. And yes I can understand the mix up given they were working under extreme pressure and deadlines to get all those characters established for the comics and toy bios. So a few mix ups were inevitable...which ultimately was for the better IMHO:)
To me, Rumble is always red, since I had the original toy, and my main TF continuity as a kid was the comic, especially the UK comic, where he was also red. The cartoon aired in the UK very inconsistently from my memory, so it was not my "main" canon as a kid. But hey, everyone else is free to be wrong!
Rumble was red with his first introduction to me, and on my shelf, he will always be the red one. If Rumble is blue to you, then more power to you, if Rumble is red, more power to you, but if you need to yell about it over the internet and insist that Rumble is only blue because the cartoon was the largest reaching media and that people are wrong otherwise, then I will always say Rumble is red out of spite more than anything else, and the vice versa goes for the aggressive "Rumble is Red" group.
As a collector and fan of the show since conception, Rumble is blue to me. I have the toys but to me his character was blue. Now how about Jetfire/Skyfire? The show wins.

Rumble is purple, a mixture of red and blue. Frenzy is red in most toy releases, but which one got the most views in media? Cartoons/dubs/comics/video games/and other collectibles?
Rumble is red, his first appearance and his second appearance was red. It wasn't until his third appearance that he was incorrectly colored by the animators based on misreading the instructions. With the release of the Studio Series 86 toy he was labeled "Rumble (blue)". This is to state that this is a variant color not its natural color. If it was the default color it would have just been labeled "Rumble".
Interesting. You're the first person in my comments to associate the word Frenzy with blue :) most people associate the word with red. As in blood or rage, as in like a feeding Frenzy.
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelfof course, it was that way in the marvel comic and the toyline (and even intended to be the same in sunbow until the mixup happened) as well. while i'm at it, red and black are earthly colours, and rumble's special power is causing earthquakes!
Both the g1 toy and the g1 comic showed Rumble as red, G1 trumps the rest, all subsequent toys are influenced by the debate, therefore Red wins, 'nuff said
@StoriesFromTheToyshelf But the G1 movie, comic, and G1 toy (that the kids might own) would be Red, that's 3 to 1 against the blue, subsequent pallet swaps in later iterations are irrelevant.
For me as a kid back then and now as an adult, Rumble has always been blue. Unfortunately for me, after hearing every Autobot and every Decepticon, (especially SOUND WAVE himself) call him Rumble just did me in. I guess im a victim of 'Decepticon Stockholm syndrome.'
I wonder if Rumble was Purple in the show because they didn't have plans to have Frenzy in the show at the time. So he was meant to be a fusion of the two.
I prefer referencing " toy version, or show version". They are different pairs with different personalities. The specs of the toys give technical reasons for there abilities and the show gives visual reasons. (Also, the toy version of Frenzy couldn't generate earthquakes)
I'm on the side that will piss the most G1 fans off. So Frenzy is blue, Rumble is red. Ok but seriously speaking the first incarnation of Frenzy I've seen was the Bayformers abomination and with those blue eyes I first assumed the G1 version was the blue one. And it just looks more natural to me like this. Fight me
I want to see a fictional universe where the coloring seems inconsistent, but the moment another character points this out, someone else retorts, “Oh, they just swap colors periodically to screw with people.”

Rumble is Red, Frenzy is Blue. Decepticons are mean and mistakes their names on purpose. Autobots use cliche names, but Decepticreeps are on another level.
😅😅😅
For me, Rumble is blue. The answer will always be based on first impressions. Mine was the cartoon. My old ass grew up watching this show back in the good ol' 1980s. I'll always remember my first Transformer toy. It was a red Bumblebee (Cliffbee?). And I remember one of my classmates having a yellow Cliffjumper (Bumblejumper?) toy. We used to race them down the slides during recess. Hooray for inconsistency!
I guess that makes two old asses...rumble is Blue for me too...thanks to the cartoons!
If I’m in the west, rumble is purple/blue and if I’m in the east rumble is red.
That works I guess? 😅
I keep imagining the bartender at the Mos Eisley Cantina telling Rumble & Frenzy: "We don't serve your kind here!" 😆
@@magazineretriever9036 😅
Watch the scene in 1986 movie when Soundwave ejects the cassette robots in SLOW MOTION...
Just before one of them says "First We Crack The Shell......"
Both Rumble AND Frenzy are blue...
I'm not kidding. I highly suspect they are both colours and can change them at will.
Ha ha yes I caught that :) one of them animated errors....or them just effing with us 😅
I thought it was because Rumb... the blue one switched sides in the comics after he deleted a human and traumatized himself, because he wasnt ready for the whole 'organs' thing we have going on.
Although I might be remembering that wrong.
In the Marvel comics? I can't recall that either but that would make for an interesting story :)
What mirror dimension did you come from?
Rumble and Frenzy, red … blue, maybe we will never agree. But as a duo, can we agree that they are hands down better than the Bay Transformers Skids and Mudflap brothers?
completely agree!
Frank Welker also voiced Uni on D & D.
I'm not surprised. He voiced so many characters. Probably one of the most prolific voice actors ever :)
And Peter Cullen was Venger :)
I'm on the side that Enemy is cooler than both because he is both red *and* blue. So suck it, Frumble.
I think Frumble is a better name though 😜
This is wild. I couldn’t stop watching lol
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video and hope you come back for more!
Rumble is blue, Frenzy is red.
Frenzy is anger and red is the color of anger, therefore Frenzy is red. Rumble causes a rumble and was blue when we first saw him, so he’s blue.
@@dkkanofkash8798 Rumble is blue and Frenzy is red because that’s how it is in the G1 show, the toys just had them reversed.
HERESY
Yes
Red is the color of anger, why wouldn't frenzy be red?
Studio Series Bumblebee Concept Rumble is blue.
Personally I'm of the opinion that Rumble and Frenzy swap color schemes to mess with people. It's usually animation errors. For instance: In the Autobot City sequence of the movie, an animation error puts Frenzy on the casetticon launch sequence twice; and then in the next shot one of them is Rumble.
You even put that exact scene in this video as a screencap and I was surprised you didn't comment on it even as a joke, haha
It all started out with animation/production mistakes, but at this point, Hasbro is probably just messing with us :P
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf Entirely possible
Always been Blue and will be Blue to the end ....at least for me
Agree!
How many memes can you insert before the first minute?
Answer: Yes
🤣🤣🤣
One way to look at it!
You should also mention Bumblebee movie concept art Rumble who is totally blue.
yeah I missed that one...one more for my boy BLUE!
Rumble will in my eyes always be blue and frenzy is red
Agree 💯 %!
Seems either can be right...
But for me, like you, the cartoons came first. So Rumble is blue to me. I still have my 80s Blue one, and forever will be misprinted..
Agree! you had a misprinted toy?that was a thing?
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf not "really".. but that's my head cannon for the name switch when it comes to the toys.
I have always thought the name rumble match blue better, and the name frenzy matched red perfectly
Same here :)
Casey Kasem was the original voice of Shaggy.
Yes he was! As with Bluestreak and Cliffjumper. Such an iconic voice. Too bad they ended up offending him causing him to quit the show.
Rumble is red, Rumble is blue. Frenzy doesn't exist.
😂
Thanks for doing the legwork on this; so many toys!
Rumble is red, BTW 😉
Frenzy is red, Rumble is blue!
@@ShadowWaveProductions that's certainly an opinion 😉
@@MatthewCaunsfield Rumble is blue, and that’s a fact. He is blue through out the entire show, the only times he isn’t is when there is an animation error. The toys were made before the show, therefor, they are not the final product.
@@ShadowWaveProductions Indeed, the toys (and comic) are the original product...the cartoon got it wrong.

I'm surprised that they've never done a version of Rumble and Frenzy, that have a color change gimmick, or the like.
That would just add more fuel to the fire 😅
Boy idgaf what the count is, Rumble is BLUE! 😎
I'm with ya! 💯:)
Rumble is Frenzy, Blue is Red. Frenzy is Rumble, Red is Blue.
Ah....a philosophical argument I see. I can get behind that 😅
Let's start another discussion: Frenzy is not RED, he's black! Blue vs Black!
Adding more fuel to the fire 😅
Rumble will always be purple to me never red.
💯 agree!
I'm a cartoon fan first, but I only care about the debate whenever only one version is released as a toy and it's only the red/black one, even though the blue/purple one is who got the most spotlight time.
agree!
Frenzy is blue
*F.I.B.*
A *fib* is a little lie
I trust that clears thinga up.
Nice one!
Let’s also take into account the new shattered glass comics. Rumble and Frenzy’s colors are just color swapped, and it doesn’t specify who is who
Oh I never read that...but yeah more proof of Hasbro effing with us 😅
Who remembers when they switched names with colors in a cartoon?
they actually did that in an episode? Now that's just them messing with us!
😅 Nice one. I guess I'm wrong then...but it feels so right :)
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf I’ll make a special one-time-only exception, just for you! :-D
It's all in good fun and discussion among fellow fans....hope people don't lose track of that :)
As a collector and fan of the show since conception, Rumble is blue to me. I have the toys but to me his character was blue. Now how about Jetfire/Skyfire? The show wins.
Yes agree! And Skyfire most definitely trumps Jetfire. I would suspect that more kids watched the show than actually owned the toy.
Rumble is Red frenzy is blue
No, in G1 Rumble is blue and Frenzy is red, the toys were just reversed. The show is a much better source of information than the toys.
@@ShadowWaveProductions bruh the show wasn't even accurate to its self most the time, this was also the same show that Contradicted Megatron's origin so many times, I think I rather stick to toys then the Cartoon that couldn't keep it's story straight lmao

Rumble is purple, a mixture of red and blue. Frenzy is red in most toy releases, but which one got the most views in media? Cartoons/dubs/comics/video games/and other collectibles?
I'd say purple Rumble did! 👍
Never thought of that....logical reasoning there :)
At the time I watched as a kid, they were both black n white lol
😅
frenzy kinda sounds like an icy word, so he's blue. rumble's red by process elimination.
@yeeoof1995 to each his own :) everyone's reasons are valid as far as I'm concerned :)
Rumble is Purple, Frenzy is Red
Agree! Although I prefer Periwinkle 😅
Both the g1 toy and the g1 comic showed Rumble as red, G1 trumps the rest, all subsequent toys are influenced by the debate, therefore Red wins, 'nuff said
But wouldn't you consider the original show G1? :)
@StoriesFromTheToyshelf But the G1 movie, comic, and G1 toy (that the kids might own) would be Red, that's 3 to 1 against the blue, subsequent pallet swaps in later iterations are irrelevant.
@tigerbread78 it's all good. Like I said both sides have good and valid arguments. At least that's how I see it. :)

No wonder there's confusion, I lost who was Rumble and who was Frenzy at this time myself
even when I was making this video, at this point...in my head I was going...they look the same! 😅
It could Decepticon Stockholm syndrome? Or you could just be absolutely correct?😅
rumBLUE fREDnzy
👍
Rumble red. Toy came first so what I base it on
A fair reasoning 👍
I wonder if Rumble was Purple in the show because they didn't have plans to have Frenzy in the show at the time. So he was meant to be a fusion of the two.
hmmmm that's an interesting take for sure :)
When the G1 cartoon was dubbed into Japanese, they called the blue one Frenzy and the red one Rumble
I could be wrong but it seems that Japan took their toys more seriously than anywhere else :)
Rumble is blue. Frenzy is also blue. Frenzy is also red. But Rumble can be red if Frenzy is blue this time
Basically it’s whatever the media says it is
That explains it! 😅
I prefer referencing " toy version, or show version".
They are different pairs with different personalities. The specs of the toys give technical reasons for there abilities and the show gives visual reasons. (Also, the toy version of Frenzy couldn't generate earthquakes)
Agree. Everyone had their reasons. And I do believe they're all valid :)
Fight me
Ah ready to Rumble I see :)
I want to see a fictional universe where the coloring seems inconsistent, but the moment another character points this out, someone else retorts, “Oh, they just swap colors periodically to screw with people.”
