    Hello
    I am using this mic and placed it like 6 inches away from mouth.
    My gain control is around +4 and i have increased that 1st gain control to almost 90% ..
    I am facing 2 issues..
    1. The audio loudness is very low. I don't export the recording. I just go to document - rode folder and the recording is there and i use that file.. i trued using manually export the recording but I have no idea about that loudness (luf) option. Please explain that and tell me the best loudness number (it ranges from -12 luf to -25luf)
    2. My Audio loudness is extremely low.. i manually increase my loudness in Video editing software but my voice still clip at 2-3 places in a 5 min audio recording.. any idea why so ? Its nothing Major but Audio do clip and I don't speak into the mic. Its in different direction than my mouth so no chances of blowing air into mic capsule.
    Please reply. It will help

    Thanks for your videos! I'm looking into the Rode VideoMic Go II for gaming/livestreaming/discord voice chat. I'll be putting this between my keyboard and monitor. I like this as opposed to other mics which kind of have to be closer to my mouth and have to either be on an arm or need to be placed between me and the keyboard.
    Will this GO II manage to not pick up keyboard presses and mouse clicks?

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, thanks for your comment and question! With the right mic positioning, the VM GO II will reject some keyboard noise but it won't eliminate all keyboard noise. Factors to consider are where you place your mic, how loud you typically speak and if you use a regular or mechanical keyboard. If keystrokes and mouse click sounds are your primary concern, check out the Podcastage channel where Bandrew does comprehensive mic tests including keyboard sound rejection.

      Hi Andres! I used a non-Rode branded USB-C to USB-A cable without issues. That being said, you may need a USB-C cable rated for high speed data transfer. The recommended Ride cables will definitely work, but any random USB cable you might have may or may not work.

      Hey Lana! Well, I'm not a Mac person and I don't use FCP, but once you have the mic connected to your computer, check the System Preferences/ Sound Input and make sure the volume slider is up. Are you able to connect any USB-C to USB-C cable to the VideoMic Go II or is there a specific USB-C to USB-C cable required to work with the mic? I know Rode has its own cables (SC16 and SC17) since I use an Android phone to record my videos, but I have plenty of extra USB-C to USB-C cables laying around here at home.

    • @WayneRECs

      Hey Albert! Thanks for your question! I have used both a RODE branded USB-C to USB-C cable as well as an generic unbranded USB-C to USB-C with my Android device and did not find any difference in functionality. If you were to plug the mic in via the 3.5mm output into your mobile device, you would need a TRS to TRRS cable for it to work (but not necessarily a RODE branded one). Hope this helps!

    How can I control these settings when using the Rode NTG video mic without the Rode software?

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comments! On the RODE VideoMic NTG, it's a little different. These kinds of features are built in to the mic itself, so using the physical buttons, you can enable the pad, safety channel, high pass filters (hpf) & presence boost. However, features like the noise gate, compressor, exciter and big bottom are digital effects that can only be enabled via the software.
      With the VideoMic GO II, I haven't been able to confirm (see EDIT) , but I surmise that all of these features are digital effects applied in the software. I suspect that the VideoMic GO II does not have any built in features (pad, hpf, presence boost) but rather they are exclusive effects that are available in RODE Connect when it detects a VideoMic GO II. I could be totally wrong on this, but the fact that the mic doesn't save any setting adjustments that you make in Connect leads me to think this.
      *EDIT Correction* After exploring the RODE website, I came across one instance of them stating that the features of the VideoMic GO II are process internally in the mic rather than an external plug-in.

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment! While I don't have a Mac to test, the RODE VideoMic GO II will work with non-branded RODE USB-C to USB-A cables provided those cables have high data transfer speeds.

    Hi Wayne can you help me with an issue I have with my Rode Wireless Go II ? I have 3 sets, all on the same firmware version. One set records only the left channel being in merge mode ... any idea what I can do to fix this?

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, curious. For clarification, on this particular set (of 1 Receiver & 2 Transmitters) the Receiver is set to Merge (and displays only 1 meter) and when using both Transmitters, audio is only recorded in the L channel? Is this happening in the audio recorded in your camera or is this happening when using the GO IIs in RODE Connect?
      Things to check. Is on board recording enabled for your transmitters? If so, export the audio and check if that's in stereo.
      If this is happening when you plug the receiver into your camera, it may be a bad cable and you can try swapping it out with one of your others to see if that corrects the issue.

    1. Can I use any usb c to c cable to connect the mic with my macbook’s type c port?
    2. Will I get the same usb benefits (like rode connect) if I use the usb port in rode videomic go ii with usb c to trrs female adapter and then connect a trrs male to male cable from that adapter to the macbook? Hope my question is clear 🙈

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Prashanth! Thanks for your questions! To answer them:
      1. I believe a USB-C to USB-C cable will work with the VM GO II and a Macbook, but as I am not a Mac user, I cannot confirm this first hand.
      2. I believe that in order to utilize RODE software on your computer, the Mic needs to be recognized as a USB mic for data transfer. I don't think it's designed to be compatible with USB-C to TRRS adapters.

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      When using an analog mic, the bit depth and sample rate will be whatever your recording device is set to. Typically, cameras record at 24-bit (or 16-bit) 48kHz but many stand alone audio recorders have more options when it comes to bit depth and sample rate. You could plug this mic into a 32-bit float recorder via the 3.5mm TRS output and record in 32-bit float.
      However, the digital output is different and the mic connected via USB-C outputs 24-bit 48kHz.

    Is it normal that when I use the mic plugged into my CanonEOS R6, I can hear a background noise, while when I plug it into my PC using the USB Type-C cable I get a crystal clear sound?
    Is there anything I can do to achieve the same result on my camera?

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment! When it comes to this mic and it's different outputs, when you connect it to your camera, the mic is sending an analog audio signal via the 3.5mm TRS cable. Your camera has a preamp (pre-amplifier) that boosts that signal and then runs it through an ADC (analog to digital converter) to record the audio as a digital file.
      When you connect the mic to your PC, the mic does the analog to digital conversion and sends a digital signal via USBC. This process produces a cleaner sound as the mic does a better job than your camera at converting the signal to digital.
      If you want to record directly to your camera, there's not much to be done in this case. As the VM GO II doesn't have a gain knob, you're stuck setting your cameras audio record level. If the mic had a gain setting, in theory having the mic's level set on the higher end would allow you to set your cameras setting to the lower end thereby reducing the self noise from your camera's preamp.
      So, long story short, yes, it can be normal to have cleaner audio via USBC than 3.5mm TRS (depending on the camera or device) and no, there's not much you can do with the camera/mic combination you listed.
