Catherine looked like an ANGEL in this final scene. So glad she stepped back into Steve's life -- possibly this time for good. I am going to miss 5-0 for a long, long time.
"You sit down?" That line gets me the most. It conveys everything: Sit down with me, take this journey with me, fly away with me, don't walk away from me, be with me. They have lost each other along the way, but their (love) story never got lost - she knew him like Joe knew him. And the way he opens his hand, how they lock hands. They have never been hand in hand, it has always been a hug, or he puts an arm around her, but never really holding hands. Two tough individuals can be so beautiful and strong together. Most importantly, he has lost his parents and Joe, but he got Danno waiting for him and Catherine being with him. He is a happy man. :)

It sounds like a very simple question, yet it conveys so much more. She asked if the seat had taken. Come on, it's a plane not a park, she's got a flight ticket. Her answer was more like giving a chance for him to decide if he wants her back in his life, if he wants to give them a second chance, to start everything all over again. His question "You sit down" is like a "Yes" to their future, "Yes" to their second chance, he welcomes her with wide open arms (well, baby steps, but we get a so-called hand-hug). It's his way to say "Are you sure? Don't back down, Let's take this chance. I don't know how to do this but let's do this together". It means so much without them saying too much. He never really asked anyone to stay in his life. He never really asked Catherine (or any other ladies/men) to stay whenever they wanted to leave. He didn't have the chance at Kono's wedding and the non-existing proposal. Cath had already decided, so he didn't want to push. And now he finally made that decision: You sit down? I saw so many messages about how much Catherine had hurt Steve, she doesn't deserve him, which is partly true, yet he never asked her to stay. I mean, we all need affirmation. Of course, Steve understood why she did that, but I also think that Steve wouldn't want it the other way. She is military, independent, strong willed character, if you boxed her or put her in 5-O for the rest of the series, she would have been so miserable and could have never preserved that love and respect for her man and vice versa. The series finale of the reboot of Hawaii Five-0 should've had the wedding of Steve McGarrett and Catherine Rollins US Navy Style with the Five-0 Team invited and also Thomas Magnum and his friends invited as well.
Am I the only one that thought the reboot was underwhelming and seemed rushed. I’m a huge fan but very disappointed and left with a lot of question marks about the show.

I’m so happy that Catherine and Steve got their happy ending. They deserved more throughout the show but sometimes trolls can be pretty mean. I’m glad they got to have their happy ending.
So much was said even though just a few words were spoken out loud. When Catherine said " Are you ready?", I think after all that they went through, doing for others that they never took time to do for themselves. They are each others anchor.
I know the scene had to be short, but I needed more for the "you ready?" to make sense. I mean, they had not said anything about taking this unknown journey together. I really need to know his destination.

Steve kind of took Catherine for granted in my view.I loved them together and the story should have kept them together instead of bringing all the unnecessary drama with that awful Lyn she was just a sex pot no substance to her where as Catherine was everything.She never got angry with him, never questioned him,she just waited I think for him to acknowledge she was more to him.He was the one one not committed and I think like any respectable woman she had chose to live her life. I would've loved a couple MORE lines of dialogue between them...maybe "we're doing this? we're doing this"....but we still got a reunion and happy swansong into the future!! Yaaaaaaay

This clip doesn't give us the full effect of those last 30 seconds, but the TV editing was superb ... They clasp hands, STEVE finally smiles, the music flourishes, the screen goes black, and the music stops immediately. At that moment I thought my heart stopped. I'm still hurting that there is no more 5-0, but what a triumphant, satisfying END. MAHALO to 10 great years ....
I actually like her character in five 0....and always hoping they bring she back with mc garret in every new season...until this finally my wish come true.... I like her acting in five 0 but the 'shazam' distract me hahaha

Catherine still looks so young and lovely but are dearest Steve has lost weight and looks a bit older but still handsome love him lots going to miss him and Catherine but the good thing that they are now together and that makes all happy at the final of Hawaii 5 O 😢😢😢

@@LuckyStarPham Totally agree. We could have lived without the Wo Fat wife revenge and spent the hour on reflection, closure, future plans. Maybe do a time jump to see Steve and Catherine's kids. They did not give Danny a happy ending. Where were Rachel and the kids after Danny got shot? Why not finally put him and Rachel back together after dancing around it for 10 years. I was very disappointed with the ending.
@@LuckyStarPham I feel like Steve received the proper send off. The man has been amazing to and for everyone of them and the reason he's leaving is believable. For me it felt like it came to a sensible conclusion for Commander Mcgarret's run at the helm of the 5.0 task force. Bringing in Lance Gross gives us the illusion that the team will go on and be just fine. Having Catherine, his one true love cracking the code and meeting him at the very end, sealed it nicely. We can think that they're together while he continues this personal mission. Knowing it had to end, my little tender heart is pleased with all of this.
Steve and Catherine should have had more time but thabks to the writers for at least giving us this little bit of hope and finally having them together ❤ they were my favorite tv show couple.

Once again than you for an awesome video...love all of them. Honestly when I first watched the final scene I was disappointed that was all we got. I wanted more interaction and maybe even "I've always loved you" exchanged. But the more I watch it and the more comments I read from other fans I realize that what I wanted wasn't very realistic. This ending is perfect because of where their relationship was at that time. In 10 years we only heard one "I love you". Their relationship always took a back seat to their jobs and saving the world. Fans blame Cath for that behavior but they never blame Steve. Through it all they ALWAYS had each other's back and we saw the love even though it wasn't always expressed. I didn't trust that PL would have them together in the end but I am so thankful that he did. This was the end of the series but the beginning of the best journey for McRoll because now they don't have any distractions. They only have each other and their happily ever after.

Character portrayals were superb and beyond great. Two intellectuals loved each other so much with same motives beyond themselves; the love for the country. The finale was an open ending. It's full of mysteries and possibilities. My imagination ran wild. Maybe, just maybe they will travel to a place where no one knows, rest and make up for the lost time and then work together in a covert mission. The EP has to make a movie or continue Hawaii 5-0 for Alex and Michele. Their talent are exceptional.

Damn it man, I'm horibbly terribly awefully miss Hawaii five o so much, how could I do to see the full episode of every season of it. Hawaii five 0 is part of my life and soul.
I honestly thought it was kind of f**ked up how she was portrayed as a terrible person solely because she didn't want to give up being a soldier(leaving is a part of the job, unfortunately). They just expected her to drop it all & when she didn't she "betrayed" him? Wtf? Steve didn't drop his career, but that was somehow okay.
Ikr Along history men have been soldiers etc, left for work for many years and it was no obstacle to starting a family. Why then everyone seems to think she betrayed Steve when she didn't give up her job? To me, it was Steve who broke things off with her, when she told she couldn't leave her job and he somehow said if you leave now then don't bother coming back. She even confessed she'd said yes to marry him if he had proposed right before she left. Sure there are things they didn't do right, but both should take responsibility and not play the victim. I'm actually a Mcdanno fan, but I don't get to understand such hatred towards her apart from being the third wheel in such fics 😔

I've always been rooting for McRollin to happen! When Lindsay (?) was in Steve's life I felt devastated then there was that episode where Catherine came back and met Lindsay as Steve's new gf then I knew "there's still hope.. there has to be 😭❤️" and FINALLY!
I was wondering who Lindsay might be. It's Lynn haha. But I'm right there with you, I was worried for a couple of seasons. But Peter Lenkov (EP) kept saying Lynn won't be in Steve's future, it's just how he's gonna play out the whole story. Anyway, I think the whole point of having Lynn there was just to use her to reveal Steve's proposal plan to Catherine. Or to show how hard he wanted/tried to move on (which he didn't succeed woohoo, because Steve's always been in love with the one and only Catherine Rollins)
I have to admit that I watched this scene several times before actually watching the full episode as I was still going through the series. Having seen the full episode now, this scene hits a little differently and has so much more meaning. It's not like they are leaving to go on another mission together. No. Steve's leaving Hawaii for a fresh start, to find some peace and Catherine shows up. It's her way of saying she wants to give their relationship another shot, that she still wants to be with him and is willing to give up the CIA. And notice that she doesn't sit down until he actually invites her to. Her presence is the offer and him asking if she wants to sit, is him accepting it. She asks "Are you ready?" because she wants to make sure this is really what he wants. He says yes and then he's the one who takes her hand. Not the other way around. Everything about this scene is subtle but so full of subtext and meaning. So beautiful! I wish we could get a follow up with these two.
Absolutely love your insights. Makes me remember how I felt the first time watching it. Full of emotions, but I sort of analyzed everything about this scene the same way you did - only I knew Steve was leaving on a personal mission (finding her, for example). It was very subtle, the way she respected him enough to give him the choice to say yes or no. And his answer was short yet direct, there was no sign of hesitation. He was sure to enter into this new discovery with her, maybe travel around the world. I just wish that we could know his original idea of the destination he had in mind - whether he was traveling to find her, whether he was going to Washington or maybe San Diego where they met. And I was happy with him taking her hand, but I would love to see a short kiss, a hug, or something else. It felt a bit rushed at the end. I was grateful for this, but also a bit bitter, if I'm honest with myself. Anyway, thanks for watching and leaving your comment. It been over 2 years and I am still so happy and still crying over this. Steve & Cath was perfect together especially season 1-4. Finally they got it right in the end. #McRoll forever!!
Another thing that occurred to me, we know Catherine wasn't on Hawaii when Lincoln called her. So she had to have flown from wherever she was in the world to get to Hawaii just to get on that plane. I think it's safe to say that she had to have quit the CIA because for one thing, I don't think they would have just given her permission to leave whatever mission she was doing in such short notice and for another, if she didn't, that means she'd have leave again at some point in the future and that would just be too cruel to Steve. I think Lincoln not only told her that Steve needed her help, but what Steve said about her. I think she realized it was time to come back to him and stop sacrificing their relationship for the job and time to sacrifice the job for him.
This scene should've had Catherine asking Steve to marry her and him saying yes whether they were either going to elope or do it after returning to Hawaii from wherever they were heading when Steve decided to take a break from his duty as the Chief of the State Police of Hawaii after working so hard.
This actually makes a good open-ending as it leaves the viewers asking the question as to whether Steve and Cathy will get back together. Throughout the entire run of the series there's one thing that cannot be denied and that is the chemistry between Steve, Danno and Cathy. There'll always be that spark between Steve and Cathy and there'll always be that bromance between Steve and Danno. Also would I be alone in thinking that if all the signs and circumstances were there would Steve and Danno make a good couple?
Oh yeah. And no this is not the ending wanted by Alex and Scott. The two clearly wanted a Mcdanno ending 😁 yes I said it and I don't care if you don't agree with me. I've real proofs
This should've deserved a much better ending. The series finale should've had Steve McGarrett asking Catherine Rollins to marry her. She would say yes and maybe the wedding would've been US Navy style, with Steve wearing his dress uniform and Danny Williams being his best man. Tani would've been chosen as the maid of honor and Junior Reigns would be wearing his dress whites as well.
I agree with the first part of your comment, the second half - not sure if Tani should be the maid of honor. It should be someone who Cath is close to and trusts completely. The new characters just don't fit in McRoll world (in my opinion).
Since they ended it that way, there is no need to revisit it again, ever. There have been a few shows that end as they should, yet they get revisited later, when they shouldn't. The reboot of "Hawaii 5-0" ended properly, and should stay that way.

Steve kind of took Catherine for granted in my view.I loved them together and the story should have kept them together instead of bringing all the unnecessary drama with that awful Lyn she was just a sex pot no substance to her where as Catherine was everything.She never got angry with him, never questioned him,she just waited I think for him to acknowledge she was more to him.He was the one one not committed and I think like any respectable woman she had chose to live her life. As she said to him a couple of times.What took you so long.
I would've loved a couple MORE lines of dialogue between them...maybe "we're doing this? we're doing this"....but we still got a reunion and happy swansong into the future!! Yaaaaaaay

They clasp hands, STEVE finally smiles, the music flourishes, the screen goes black, and the music stops immediately. At that moment I thought my heart stopped. I'm still hurting that there is no more 5-0, but what a triumphant, satisfying END. MAHALO to 10 great years ....

@@LuckyStarPham Totally agree. We could have lived without the Wo Fat wife revenge and spent the hour on reflection, closure, future plans. Maybe do a time jump to see Steve and Catherine's kids. They did not give Danny a happy ending. Where were Rachel and the kids after Danny got shot? Why not finally put him and Rachel back together after dancing around it for 10 years. I was very disappointed with the ending.

@@LuckyStarPham I feel like Steve received the proper send off. The man has been amazing to and for everyone of them and the reason he's leaving is believable. For me it felt like it came to a sensible conclusion for Commander Mcgarret's run at the helm of the 5.0 task force. Bringing in Lance Gross gives us the illusion that the team will go on and be just fine. Having Catherine, his one true love cracking the code and meeting him at the very end, sealed it nicely. We can think that they're together while he continues this personal mission.
Knowing it had to end, my little tender heart is pleased with all of this.
So happy, catherine get to go on a journey with steve. Great ending.....
Steve and Catherine should have had more time but thabks to the writers for at least giving us this little bit of hope and finally having them together ❤ they were my favorite tv show couple.

Once again than you for an awesome video...love all of them. Honestly when I first watched the final scene I was disappointed that was all we got. I wanted more interaction and maybe even "I've always loved you" exchanged. But the more I watch it and the more comments I read from other fans I realize that what I wanted wasn't very realistic. This ending is perfect because of where their relationship was at that time. In 10 years we only heard one "I love you". Their relationship always took a back seat to their jobs and saving the world. Fans blame Cath for that behavior but they never blame Steve. Through it all they ALWAYS had each other's back and we saw the love even though it wasn't always expressed. I didn't trust that PL would have them together in the end but I am so thankful that he did. This was the end of the series but the beginning of the best journey for McRoll because now they don't have any distractions. They only have each other and their happily ever after.

Character portrayals were superb and beyond great. Two intellectuals loved each other so much with same motives beyond themselves; the love for the country. The finale was an open ending. It's full of mysteries and possibilities. My imagination ran wild. Maybe, just maybe they will travel to a place where no one knows, rest and make up for the lost time and then work together in a covert mission. The EP has to make a movie or continue Hawaii 5-0 for Alex and Michele. Their talent are exceptional.

I honestly thought it was kind of f**ked up how she was portrayed as a terrible person solely because she didn't want to give up being a soldier(leaving is a part of the job, unfortunately). They just expected her to drop it all & when she didn't she "betrayed" him? Wtf? Steve didn't drop his career, but that was somehow okay.
Ikr Along history men have been soldiers etc, left for work for many years and it was no obstacle to starting a family. Why then everyone seems to think she betrayed Steve when she didn't give up her job? To me, it was Steve who broke things off with her, when she told she couldn't leave her job and he somehow said if you leave now then don't bother coming back. She even confessed she'd said yes to marry him if he had proposed right before she left. Sure there are things they didn't do right, but both should take responsibility and not play the victim. I'm actually a Mcdanno fan, but I don't get to understand such hatred towards her apart from being the third wheel in such fics 😔
I agree. I think he should have gone after her and proposed instead of giving up! Joe would have wanted him to make sure she knew that he wanted her to be his wife.

Catherine said Lincoln called her to ask for her help, so it's safe to assume that Lincoln also told her all the flight details etc. Besides, at the end of the day, she's an CIA agent. I've always been rooting for McRollin to happen! When Lindsay (?) was in Steve's life I felt devastated then there was that episode where Catherine came back and met Lindsay as Steve's new gf then I knew "there's still hope.. there has to be 😭❤️" and FINALLY!
I was wondering who Lindsay might be. It's Lynn haha. But I'm right there with you, I was worried for a couple of seasons. But Peter Lenkov (EP) kept saying Lynn won't be in Steve's future, it's just how he's gonna play out the whole story. Anyway, I think the whole point of having Lynn there was just to use her to reveal Steve's proposal plan to Catherine. Or to show how hard he wanted/tried to move on (which he didn't succeed woohoo, because Steve's always been in love with the one and only Catherine Rollins)

I have to admit that I watched this scene several times before actually watching the full episode as I was still going through the series. Having seen the full episode now, this scene hits a little differently and has so much more meaning. It's not like they are leaving to go on another mission together. No. Steve's leaving Hawaii for a fresh start, to find some peace and Catherine shows up. It's her way of saying she wants to give their relationship another shot, that she still wants to be with him and is willing to give up the CIA. And notice that she doesn't sit down until he actually invites her to. Her presence is the offer and him asking if she wants to sit, is him accepting it. She asks "Are you ready?" because she wants to make sure this is really what he wants. He says yes and then he's the one who takes her hand. Not the other way around. Everything about this scene is subtle but so full of subtext and meaning. So beautiful! I wish we could get a follow up with these two.
Absolutely love your insights. Makes me remember how I felt the first time watching it. Full of emotions, but I sort of analyzed everything about this scene the same way you did - only I knew Steve was leaving on a personal mission (finding her, for example). It was very subtle, the way she respected him enough to give him the choice to say yes or no. And his answer was short yet direct, there was no sign of hesitation. He was sure to enter into this new discovery with her, maybe travel around the world.
I just wish that we could know his original idea of the destination he had in mind - whether he was traveling to find her, whether he was going to Washington or maybe San Diego where they met. And I was happy with him taking her hand, but I would love to see a short kiss, a hug, or something else. It felt a bit rushed at the end. I was grateful for this, but also a bit bitter, if I'm honest with myself.

End of an era
Another thing that occurred to me, we know Catherine wasn't on Hawaii when Lincoln called her. So she had to have flown from wherever she was in the world to get to Hawaii just to get on that plane. I think it's safe to say that she had to have quit the CIA because for one thing, I don't think they would have just given her permission to leave whatever mission she was doing in such short notice and for another, if she didn't, that means she'd have leave again at some point in the future and that would just be too cruel to Steve. I think Lincoln not only told her that Steve needed her help, but what Steve said about her. I think she realized it was time to come back to him and stop sacrificing their relationship for the job and time to sacrifice the job for him.

This actually makes a good open-ending as it leaves the viewers asking the question as to whether Steve and Cathy will get back together. Throughout the entire run of the series there's one thing that cannot be denied and that is the chemistry between Steve, Danno and Cathy. There'll always be that spark between Steve and Cathy and there'll always be that bromance between Steve and Danno. Also would I be alone in thinking that if all the signs and circumstances were there would Steve and Danno make a good couple?

This should've deserved a much better ending. The series finale should've had Steve McGarrett asking Catherine Rollins to marry her. She would say yes and maybe the wedding would've been US Navy style, with Steve wearing his dress uniform and Danny Williams being his best man. Tani would've been chosen as the maid of honor and Junior Reigns would be wearing his dress whites as well.
I agree with the first part of your comment, the second half - not sure if Tani should be the maid of honor. It should be someone who Cath is close to and trusts completely. The new characters just don't fit in McRoll world (in my opinion).
They should have showed Catherine and Steve finally getting married bringing back Kono and chin for it for a proper ending

Since they ended it that way, there is no need to revisit it again, ever. There have been a few shows that end as they should, yet they get revisited later, when they shouldn't. The reboot of "Hawaii 5-0" ended properly, and should stay that way.
