    Thank you. The BoS values technically predate the war... if only by hours... simply because Maxson had already declared independence before the bombs fell. They are not a post-war cult. Also, the "Arthurian" cult they adopted was on purpose... in order to cement the new order and it's values. In Fallout 76 you can hear US soldier protest this idea initially, finding it silly... but understanding it would become important generations later.

    Roger Maxson’s true vision for the Brotherhood was lost when he became idealistic. He wanted them to preserve and confiscate technology, while also using their force to help what was left of humanity. Many others did not see the same vision as him and they all collectively decided to become isolationist. He even later regretted killing the scientists and wished that many things would’ve panned out differently. Before his final days, even his own son turn turned against his ideals.

    • @LordBloodraven
      @LordBloodraven 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +68

      That ideology did seem to wax and wane over the years. It fell to each Elder to dictate how the Brotherhood would conduct themselves. Elder Lyons returned to the first Maxson's ideology of saving people. The latest Elder Maxson decided to go back to the original mission without the humanitarian operations.

    • @Epzo1
      @Epzo1 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      @@LordBloodraven That's not what I read. It appears that Arthur Maxson's East Coast BoS is closer to an order state than what they were before. They recruit from the common people and they protect the DC area, protect water distribution, and have pushed out the raiders and super mutants. They definitely have humanitarian outreach but only for humans. Which is the dark side of Arthur's BoS, the side I'm most disappointed about.

    • @evanulven8249
      @evanulven8249 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      @@Epzo1 That's part of the tragic irony. The current BoS considered Lyons and his followers all but traitors, and far earlier in Appalachia, the faction with Paladin Rahmani were branded such. Both groups were closer to Maxson's vision for the Brotherhood than any other faction.

    • @CommanderBohn
      @CommanderBohn 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      And this is why the Mid-West Brotherhood is the best. Sure, they have many of the typical Brotherhood stuff, but they actually give a damn about people, help them out and even recruit outsiders into their ranks (including Ghouls, the sentient Deathclaws and even Super-Mutants).
      While every other BoS group is slowly dying out, these guys keep growing in strength.
      And no, I don't give a damn what Todd says, for me Tactics is at least semi-canon due to the Mid-West BoS being mentioned in New Vegas.

      I think about the New Vegas chapter of the BOS as the logical conclusion of the faction as a whole. A faction that’s isolationist based on its principles, further radicalized by having to be isolationist also due to circumstances (events of FNV). They very rarely took on new members that weren’t born from within the brotherhood. Chatting with Veronica really highlights the faction’s shortcomings. They really have this high minded opinion that they alone are capable of harnessing technology responsibly, yet Father Elijah exists as a character.
      Bethesda’s take on the BOS changed the formula. They fundamentally solved the manpower question by taking in common wastelanders at a more rapid pace (events of FO3 and FO4).

      @@Papai_Pai Rivet City got sacked for the generator is nothing but a fan theory, a stupid one at that too. There are enough evidence against it that I actually surprised people even buying it in the first place.
      Firstly, the terminal mentioned nothing about Rivet City at all. If they got it from there they would just say it was from Rivet City, not an aircraft carrier wreckage.
      Secondly, there are no mention of it happened at all in the game, be it from NPC or terminal entries. Deacon is very anti Brotherhood, he would have mentioned it if it happened. Same with MacCredy. Danse and Haylen and many others simply wouldn’t have joined up if that was the case.
      Thirdly, the Brotherhood could have just trade for it. You know, like they always do?
      And lastly, Norfolk is literally right in between Boston and DC. The Brotherhood could have just go there and picked it up if they want to.
      Shady Sand was attacked because the NCR and the Brotherhood is at war and has been for decades. It literally have nothing to do with fusion core.
      The chapter in the TV is also ravaged by war for literal decades before the series start.
      They send people there because no idiot would be stupid enough to actually do it. The glow mission was not intended for people to die, just to leave them alone because they don’t accept people (and is in their right to do, I don’t why people are so hung up on this), and it’s not like they reject you if you actually done the quest so where’s the problem again?
