Mike Mew, BDS - Changing the face of evolutionary medicine (AHS22)

  • Evolutionary medicine needs to be heard around the developed world, but it doesn't make money, it's not sexy. But faces are! I've started the phenomenon of mewing and I am leading a movement. It's pure evolutionary medicine and I am being persecuted, my license to practice on the line, for providing treatment based squarely on these principles. At least this forces scientific engagement, and I will win, with your help decisively.
I will present the scope and relevance of this argument, the pattern of related health issues and their implications. And finally, how we can come together on a good bet to push our science forwards.
And remember the only people interested in this will be anyone with a face.

This explains so much of my life with dental problems, breathingg problems and thus sleeping problems. Ill probably die younger bc of this. My nose especially has narrow turbinates and my head laying on my back allows my tongue to close my airway. Ive also realized my posture is bad too. These recent videos have beenn 10/10

Also i was diiagnosed with adhd as a child but as an adult i just feel exhausted alll the time and its starting to make me think chronic depression is simply a sleeping disorder

I've been experiencing those same problems for three decades (just about all my life). A combination of mewing and postural work (rotating the ribcage upward, shoulders back and down, spine straight and lengthened, feet in correct barefoot position with knees over the feet) has completely changed my quality of life in the last six months. My sleep has improved, as well as my circulation and breathing. I believe there is hope.

I'm doing a slow alternative to double jaw surgery with expansion devices. I'm 48, the improvement is dramatic. See the "Orthotropics" youtube channel run by doctors John and Mike Mew.

I so needed this information in my time. Still had OK teeth at 16, but from then everything started to crowd over each other slowly over the years. Pulled all wisdom teeth and had braces eventually, sliced off sides of premolars for space. So no way back now. Hopefully, I can help my kids avoid all the unnecessary problems.

This is ahead of its time and also behind its time as it should already be researched and known but sadly its not.

It bothers me so much when people say mewing is a scam like first off it's free u have nothing to loose, and second there's literally proof people just don't wanna see it cause they already paid for jaw surgery or their a plastic surgeon who doesn't wanna admit anything can be changed naturally

When i was a child, i had crooked bottom teeth. The dentist told me to push on those bottom front teeth with my tongue, it worked, no mechanical device, no pain.
I have no idea who that secret French mewing doctor was, but I thank him

Dr Mew, thankyou, a very interesting and helpful video. i will spread it around. With regard to forward head posture and the fact that even the therapists who advise us on this problem themselves suffer from it, the issue for many people is that they cannot maintain good thoracic and cervical posture bcs the relevant muscles - trapezius, splenius, sterno-cleidomastoid, rhomboids, etc - are simply not strong enough or of the correct length in order to support the head in balance. But this can be fixed, using a method i stumbled upon when suffering from all of these issues plus frozen shoulders. I did it quickly and cheaply fixed this problem using just the innertube of the front tire of a 150cc motorcycle and what i refer to as a "quasi-isometric" approach, as follows.
"Quasi-isometric exercise with a motorcycle inner tube"
    - Get a length of inner tube from the front tire of a 150cc mortorbike. You might get this free out of the rubbish bin at a motorcycle shop but it is cheap in any case.
    - Sit on a stool or the edge of a chair and grasp the length of inner tube with both hands pronated (i.e., hands palm-down or palm-out) and a few inches apart.
    - Set your shoulders back and down (so your scapulae are flat) and keep your chin tucked (pulled back in the mckenzie tuck). This is very important.
    - Attempt to pull the tube apart in five different basic directions - to the side (actually not directly to the side but a few degrees in front of the shoulder), overhead, forward, downward towards the thighs and finally - with the tube doubled over for extra resistance - across your upper chest, you pull down and back (squeezing your shoulder blades together).
    - Start by doing holds of a minimum of 10 secs. Later build to longer holds if you like, especially the chest pull. I nowadays do the chest pull hold for 90 secs.
    - You won't get much stretch from the tube, especially at first. When you get stronger, you will get more stretch and also as the tube warms up with use it stretches a little more. But very little stretch is needed. Just enough to stimulate your Golgi tendon organs.
    - These exercises are very effective bcs they are quasi-isometric holds (meaning that there is little muscle lengthening and muscle fiber tearing but there is still a lot of muscle fibre recruitment bcs the slight lengthening means more stimulation of the CNS via the Golgi tendons) .
    - Your effort counts most of all. Put in maximum effort once you get max contraction. Also with experience you can hold for longer time. Time under tension is important for hypertrophy - building muscle fibers.
    - Do it just once a day for a few reps or even as many times a day as you like and every day too. While isometrics do not cause injury - because there is no muscle fiber movement - these inner tube exercises are *quasi*-isometric and do involve a small amount of muscle fiber movement, so while it is is hard to overdo them, it not impossible. So have a rest day occasionally when you feel like it. It is up to you, but it becomes a little addictive bcs visible results come so fast, so watch out. I do them almost every day.
    - This works hands, wrists, forearms, upper arms, shoulders, traps, neck, upper back, rhomboids and lats. You will be filling out your T shirts differently very fast. You will develop a beautiful, easy, confident posture, which too few men nowadays have.
    - Warning. Keep those shoulders back and down and your chin back! Remember that. You can sit or stand, it doesn't matter. Just keep those shoulders back and down and the chin back.
    - very good exercise for those who spend a lot of time in poor posture at the computer. You will soon notice that you are standing with better posture and many aches and pains (shoulders, neck) are gone or reduced.

You should really just make a video on this technique. Too complicated to read lots of steps on how to do what you can demonstrate in a 1 minute video.

There’s also increasing genetic incidence of tongue tie and lip tie (ankyloglossia) which may correlate with the different tongue positions preferences.

Now compare the jawline of the pickiest eaters amongst many siblings & one with an adventurous appetite - bonus points if they're raw food inclined
Same with comparing jawlines nowadays with those in the 60's & before when highly processed supermarket food was scarcely available/non existant, plus points for countries not considered amongst developed/developing
