The most expressive , fluid , divine , graceful , beautiful movements and posture on ice Oksana Baiul and Sasha Cohen and Ekaterinburg Gordeeva alas a airs skater . They each had the divine factor .
always a very subjective undertaking to cover over one hundred years. and the evolution continues. I agree with Kim, Witt, Kwan, Yamaguchi, Henie among the top. No one lived that long to remember all of them. But to be among the all time greats, she has to have longevity too. Not just one, two year top notch brilliance.
My favorite to watch was Sasha Cohen but she was inconsistent with her jumps. No one could spin or ballet on ice like that dramatic queen! Kamila is taking the world by storm, but she might be a flash in the pan, unlike Yuna Kim. Great list, I agree 100%!
Very subjective as each one is different in their own right. For accolades and accomplishments you would have to agree with Yuna but for absolute beauty, style, grace and elegance nothing beats Peggy Fleming she will always be my favourite and the reason I first fell in love with figure skating
I'm glad Evgenia got an honorable mention. I believe people when they say her technique isn't good, but she's my favorite skater to watch. Her passion just shines through so clearly.
Not even an honorable mention of Denise Biellmann? She created the "Biellmann-Pirouette", named after her. Nearly all of the female Figure Skaters since are trying to recreate it. More or less successfully.
Dorothy Hamil shouldn't be on the honorable mention list . . . she should be in the list. Also, Tenley Albright should be on the list as well. I'd would take off Oksana and Kristi.
@@curtisdalrymple42 Tenley Albright was the United State's FIRST woman to win the Olympic gold medal in Ladies figure skating.
Her record will never be broken. Just because she didn’t win gold shouldn’t diminish her record. And she won a bronze and a silver at the Olympics. Had the team event existed she would’ve had a gold from that. Switch her skate order with Lipinski and Kwan is the Olympic Champion.
Sonja Henie at number 2? She should've been 9 or 10. She was a huge movie star and style icon in her day, but the skating quality just isn't there. She earned 3 Olympic golds, but those were the days when only a handful of rich white girls skated. It really wasnt a sport. They didn't even do jumps of any kind. It's like saying Suzanne Lenglen was better than Serena Williams. It just doesn't make any sense.
I'll never forget 1994 in Lillehammer. With the distraction of all of the drama between Nancy Kerrigan and Tanya Harding, Oksana Baiul came forward with some of the most classic, fluid and beautiful moves on ice I have ever seen. Glad to see her in this ranking, but in my mind, she'll always rise to the top.
I agree as well ! Oksana was head and shoulders the most artistic skater ever, and I adored her, until now, that Kamila Varieleva appeared. Kamila has become the top skater of all time now, to my mind.
You're right, but it seems he's basing his judgement on the number of awards won regardless of when they were won. Sonia could never do the jumps the women perform today. She did go on to have a successful movie career in the USA in the 30s.
@@auapplemac1976 I guess we will never really know that because Sonia was born in a completely different time period. When she became a world class figure skater, even completing a single loop was considered a big deal. Truth is I think in some ways, they have gone way overboard with the big jumps, it’s not just skaters who were popular 60, and 70 years ago. Even skaters in the 90’s like Michelle Kwan, and Tara Lipinski didn’t do the quads, or hardly ever did the triple axels, and even most guys didn’t start doing them up until about 30 years ago. I think the really big jumps almost takes away from the beauty and grace of the sport and almost makes figure skating look more like gymnastics on ice. Just not impressed.
GOAT = Yuna Kim She is a first figure skater ever to complete a Super Slam Yuna Kim was awarded the Outstanding Performance Award from the ANOC (The first figure skater to win the prize in Olympic history)
I wouldn't agree that simply having the most medals makes one the 'best' figure skater. Skating is a sport of beauty and grace, not merely winning medals. And, as well, the ability to connect with the audience, someone who is remembered as loved by the audience over a long period of time, aside from simply performing and winning medals. That said, I would have placed Michelle Kwan FAR higher as she skated for many more years than several of the other skaters and was recognized for her beautiful artistry. Her performance at the World Championships that won her her first World's medal is artistry incarnate. Lists of "The Best" are often arbitrary. Why not ask the top skaters who THEY thought were the Top Ten? They are, after all, the 'experts.'
True! Figure skating is not just about jumping around! It's the way you do it! You have to do it with grace. You have to give PERFORMANCE to the audience
Katarina Witt is my favourite female figure skater of all time. Being British, of course, Torvill amd Dean are my favourite ice dancers. But I always looked forward to seeing Katarina perform. Poise, elegance, charm, charisma for days snd a beautiful smile ... and wasn't above challenging 'rules' occasionally!
My favorite is Sonya Henning. I like her movies. Dorothy Hamill is very likeable too. It's more than the jumps for me. Grace, style and personality play a big part too. Like Katerina Witt. That smile.
Though I think Midori is wonderful too...Mao Asada’s skating and personality is the best. Many young Rocian skaters say their idol isn’t Yona but Mao. This ranking is unbelievable.
@@noripee8278 Both Mao and Yuna are excellent. But when they played, Mao made a lot of mistakes. Her 3A's are of good quality, but the success rate is low. And Yuna, her difficulty is not the highest, but her movements are the most standard for many years, especially her lutz. Textbook level. Also Yuna's speed and jump quality and artistry and step sequence are very good. Many skaters will respect Mao because she challenged 3A many years ago, and to this day, many people can't match her skills. How to judge who is great? I strongly disagree with your placement of Michelle Kwan. I was fortunate to be able to watch her skate from the time she was 12 until she retired and she was WONDERFUL!!!! Her artistry has never been matched. And she always interpreted the music perfectly. No one came even close to winning as many awards as she. I no longer watch ice skating since I don't enjoy watching people skate around the rink and jump! I can watch gymnastics and track and field for that! I suppose I am just an "old fogey," but I feel that the sport is heading in the wrong direction .
She also always picked the best music (except Bolero). None of that hokey crap. And nothing overdone (until after she did it - looking at you, Scheherazade).
I pretty much agree Michelle was my favorite too. I also loved Sasha Cohen to me her skating was so graceful and beautiful. Sadly, she was never consistent with her jumps though.
I mostly agree although I don’t think Oksana Baeuel should have been in the list nor won gold over Nancy Kerrigan. It was all about poor Oksana but Nancy had been through a lot that year too with someone hitting her knee with a metal bar to keep her from participating at all. Now we have Oksana who gets everyone’s sympathy I guess because she won and is crying. 🤷🏼♀️ Nancy skated her best ever and should have won that gold, not the silver. Not saying she should be on the list but she should have won the gold. And Michelle Kwan to not get the gold over Tara Lipinski? Michelle’s skating was so beautiful and her performance was sooo amazing!!! Tara seemed like a flash in the pan kind of skater. Yes she could do jumps but as for the skating maturity and beauty, it was Michelle all the way!!!!! Sorry for those who disagree. But that’s my opinion. At least Michelle is ranked higher. 👍
I completely agree with your comments about Oksana Baiul. At that Olympics, she me sure everyone knew her story about her mother dying and how she had to live with her coach. Oksana never had a clean program after the Olympics. She was called a 'skater for the ages': why ? How well do you know them? Just because they didn't answer other people's questions? I'm not Korean but I like Yuna. It's not just Koreans who think she's the queen. I like her because her shows are touching and artistic and beautiful, not because of her skills. Russia skater likes Mao, but not everyone? Some people like her skills, especially now that Russia is focusing on higher skills in skating, they like her pursuit of 3A quality.
@@lillianscott4194
My point is, Japan is a disgusting country and Mao is a victim of Japan.
I want her to be like Yuna but it’s impossible in Japan. You never understand.
Sorry, my English isn’t good enough to make you understand me.
I think your emotion prevents you from understanding though.
@Looloo L fashion show ? Ha, those who use ice as a fashion show are the ones who love "cross-dressing"... a certain Russian female skater...
In my eyes, Dorothy Hamill will always be #1.🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
The most expressive , fluid , divine , graceful , beautiful movements and posture on ice Oksana Baiul and Sasha Cohen and Ekaterinburg Gordeeva alas a airs skater . They each had the divine factor .
Ekaterina Gordeeva was a pairs skater, not a single skater that is why she was not included in this list.
Yes , I said she was a pairs skater ! it still showcased her beautiful movements on the ice .
No Oksana Baiul, ella ganó las olimpiadas con triples aterrizados a 2 pies y no hizo combinación de 3/3
It's a toss between Michelle Kwan and Oksana Baiul for me. Loved watching them both skate.
1:10 Yulia Lipnitskaya did not win the Olympics Singles gold medal…she won the Team Event in 2014
Queen Yuna was the most gorgeous skater ever.
Janet Lynn had great relevance between Peggy Fleming and Dorothy Hamil. She should at least be on the honorable mention list.
Darn school figures!
Janet was an angel on ice
I agree she was beautiful like a ballerina on ice.
Yes!!!
I'm a fan of many ladies figure skaters, but Janet Lynn is, to this day, my favorite of all time. Her skating was so pure and lovely.
always a very subjective undertaking to cover over one hundred years. and the evolution continues. I agree with Kim, Witt, Kwan, Yamaguchi, Henie among the top. No one lived that long to remember all of them. But to be among the all time greats, she has to have longevity too. Not just one, two year top notch brilliance.
Thank you for commenting!!!
Michelle Kwan my favorite ❤ 💕
Michelle Kwan for me will always be the Queen of Figure Skating.
My favorite to watch was Sasha Cohen but she was inconsistent with her jumps. No one could spin or ballet on ice like that dramatic queen! Kamila is taking the world by storm, but she might be a flash in the pan, unlike Yuna Kim. Great list, I agree 100%!
Your the best!!!
Yes I agree about Sasha. Loved her.
I agree, Sasha deserved honorable mention.
No doubt about it, Sasha was an amazing talent, and could go head to head with anybody on artistry, but was just not all that consistent.
Kamila doesn't have any grace
Michelle Kwan skating to Eva Cassidy’s Fields of Gold is the pinnacle of women’s skating for me.
Very subjective as each one is different in their own right. For accolades and accomplishments you would have to agree with Yuna but for absolute beauty, style, grace and elegance nothing beats Peggy Fleming she will always be my favourite and the reason I first fell in love with figure skating
I totally agree with your opinion.
I also fell in love with figure skating after first seeing Peggy Fleming's elegant spin moves in the newspaper.
Kristi is also one of the nicest people you could ever meet.
I'm glad Evgenia got an honorable mention. I believe people when they say her technique isn't good, but she's my favorite skater to watch. Her passion just shines through so clearly.
I agree, but I think Alina Zagitova should have gotten one as well she won the Olympics and World Championship she was such a beautiful skater.
@@curtisdalrymple42 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Janet Lynn should have received honorable mention.
At least
Yes!!! Actually a place at the top.
Agree 💯❗
She was so unique. Forget a medal count.
Not even an honorable mention of Denise Biellmann? She created the "Biellmann-Pirouette", named after her. Nearly all of the female Figure Skaters since are trying to recreate it. More or less successfully.
I agree.
@@nztree Thank you.
Es gibt etliche, die sie deutlich besser als Bielmann machen. Kamila Valieva z. B.. Von wegen versuchen.
Dorothy Hamil shouldn't be on the honorable mention list . . . she should be in the list. Also, Tenley Albright should be on the list as well. I'd would take off Oksana and Kristi.
Oksana maybe but not Kristi. She was not only the Olympic champion, but the US and World Champion at least several times.
@@curtisdalrymple42 Tenley Albright was the United State's FIRST woman to win the Olympic gold medal in Ladies figure skating. She also had an impressive skating career before she won that Olympic gold so I'd put her on the list. How Kristi is on the list before both Tenley and Dorothy doesn't make sense.
Yes! More Lussi students on the list.
❤Of course Michelle Kwan.
❤Maybe the greatest artist on ice.
❤Michelle created the most classic programs in the history.
❤Michelle got the most perfect 6.0 in the history.
Kamila Valieva is the best ever. And it it’s not close. Her training in ballet and rhythmic gymnastics has put her in another galaxy.

@@yokos-v3b 🤡
She lacks grace. Figure skating it's not about jumping around. It's the way you do it! You have to give whole performance to the audience. She doesn't do that
@@chrissy138lol. She’s literally known and famous for combining grace with athleticism. Only ignorance could fuel such an opinion as yours.
Really great, wonderful performance congratulations to all participants 👌👌👌
Yuna. Greatest all time legend ever.
Love it! Just can't help but think how much higher Michelle Kwan would have been had she clinched the gold Olympic medal
Facts!!! Thanks for watching, and sharing!!
Her record will never be broken. Just because she didn’t win gold shouldn’t diminish her record. And she won a bronze and a silver at the Olympics. Had the team event existed she would’ve had a gold from that. Switch her skate order with Lipinski and Kwan is the Olympic Champion.
@@marlaking1251 yup!! She will always be #1 to me!!
@@marlaking1251 Maybe. Maybe not.
QUEEN YUNA!!!~
Yes
I love this kind of history!! So cool to look back on.
Oksana Baiul, unique, artistic, beautiful skater with individual style and grace, she would have made a beautiful ballerina!
Agree!
Sorry, I thought Nancy Kerrigan out skated every other skater, Oxana just wiggled her little tush and won the judge is over!
I think Nancy was stiffer than Oksana. But either way they are 2 of the all time greats!
I agree as well ! Oksana was head and shoulders the most artistic skater ever, and I adored her, until now, that Kamila Varieleva appeared. Kamila has become the top skater of all time now, to my mind.
Oksana was the epitome of beautiful & fluid artistry . No one could move quite like Oksana !
I don't think we should be comparing women who skated in 1920 to now! Dorothy is more than an honorable mention! They are all amazing!🎉
You don't have to.
Peggy Fleming is my choice. Skating skills plus star quality and charisma. Shes the template in my book.
Sorry not to see Janet Lynn on this list.
I disagree with Peggy Fleming being 5th. In my opinion she is #1. Ice skating is about beauty, artistry and grace not jumps.
I miss the days when they would show professional competitions and shows on TV.
GOAT = Yuna Kim
She is a first figure skater ever to complete a Super Slam
Yuna Kim was awarded the Outstanding Performance Award from the ANOC (The first figure skater to win the prize in Olympic history)
Michelle Kwan got me to start and enjoy watching the sport.
Denise Biellmann should be on this list
Peggy Fleming does a great combination: Double Loop-Double Loop: 02:55!!
I think this was one of the best figure skating ranking videos. You were unbiased and took into account of the different eras. But Yuna 🤤😍
Thanks I appreciate the kind words, and the support, I work hard every night on my videos for viewers like you!!!!
UNBIASED!! Went a tad overboard on his American Picks
I don't know a lot about skating on ice but i enjoyed it!
Thank you, and thanks for all the support!!!!
Katarina Witt is my favourite female figure skater.
My favorite was always Rosalyn Sumners beautiful artistry!
Love Yuna 💕
💖OMG Love this💖
Lol I figured you would! Thanks for watching!!
Janet Lynn 😑was iconic
She really was. She really deserve to make this list, but she just missed it.
B.S.
Poise, elegance, charm, charisma for days snd a beautiful smile ... and wasn't above challenging 'rules' occasionally!
in terms of 'best' she's in my top 3 with Michelle Kwan, and Dorothy Hamill.
Yuna was the best ..⭐
I always loved the sheer athleticism of Denise Beillman.
But she was very graceful, too!
My favorite is Sonya Henning. I like her movies. Dorothy Hamill is very likeable too. It's more than the jumps for me. Grace, style and personality play a big part too. Like Katerina Witt. That smile.
Katerina Witt had so much charisma and flirty appeal and is still regarded with such dignity.
Great job! Yuma Kim is THE BEST!!!
Your the best!! Thanks for watching!!
Great video. What about Sasha Cohen? She was pretty amazing too.
Thank you, and she just missed this list!!! But she's really is amazing!
Whatt?? No Asada Mao?? She's such a great jumper!! Should be there, she got super slam too!!
Denise Beilmann should have been mentioned. All the girls do the Beilmann spin now, thanks to her. I guess its all about the medals.
Sie heißt Bielmann.
Always loved midori ito. She such a happy person never acted snotty like keringan. Love Kwan and Kristi
You can't say Mao must be better than Kim, Mao has great 3A and footwork, but she also has a wrong edge and keeps falling.
@@lillianscott4194
Are you going to keep opposing all people who think someone other than Yuna is great❓
Though I said this ranking was unbelievable, I didn’t say Yuna wasn’t great. I consider her one of the best in history.
I think there’s a reason why Mao made mistakes more often than Yuna but I don’t want to explain to you. I know your emotion makes you think I diss Yuna.
You had better take your time to admire Yuna instead of dissing other skaters.
Do you think Yuna would be happy to see your comment❓
@@noripee8278 Wow, so I can't say my opinion? I don't dislike Mao. To be honest, I quite like her. You say the ranking is unbelievable, that's what you think, and I say mine too. It's true that Yuna is less difficult than Mao for me, but her other skills are not necessarily worse than Mao's. So why is Yuna unbelievable in the rankings? Or are you just in disbelief that people like Mao and Midori aren't on the list? This is my focus. Also, to say that Mao's technical shortcomings are to despise her? What❓❓🤷
@@noripee8278 You don't need to explain to me why Mao has more mistakes than Yuna, why do I need to hear what you think? There are still many people whose idol is Mao but not Yuna? Who are you referring to? so what? how do you know? Russian? Japanese? Many people also regard Yuna as an idol. What I know is that many Russian skaters like Mao because her former coach was Russian, and now many people pursue higher skills, they naturally admire Mao. Because of his 3A skills. Also, Adelina and 2014 Sochi, Russia Cheating, they don't admit it, they hate Koreans for supporting Yuna Kim. Of course Russia doesn't like Koreans.🤷
*Dorothy Hamill is world famous, she's not just an honorable mention lol*
Maria Butyrskaya (the best on that age) and Surya Bonaly with her historical backflip deserve to be here!
Yuna Kim because she also got robbed of gold in Russia because of corrupt judges! If you watch her videos, her skating techniques and artistry are truly unparalleled.
Michelle Kwan was my favorite. She was strong in all areas but her artistry will never be forgotten.
I totally agree with you. I think she got robbed when Lipinski won.
@@RebeccaTaylorTillery Michelle's artistry and technique were better than Tara, Tara had a kid's body and weight so easier to jump. Michelle was robbed because Tara didn't really make a correct 3+3 .

I was obsessed with Oksana as a teen when she performed in the Olympics - lost my mind when she won Gold and I got to see Nancy Kerrigan in all her salty glory 😂
But seriously Oksana was SO fun to watch - just beautiful ❤️ thank you for another great video! subbed ✌🏼
Lmaoooo, Yes she definitely one of my favorites as well. And thank you for the sub I really appreciate it!!!
Oksana went through some trying times growing. For all the hard times, she aways had skating. She looked like sha had so much fun skating. ⛸️♥️⛸️
Ha Nancy was a little bratty.
@@westzed23Oksana definitely brought joy to the ice..like a beautiful, delicate ballerina!
Oksana Baiul was breathtaking, like no other.
They are all great. It's not the metal you receive but it's about the love for the sport and longitivity in competition as well.
Michelle Kwan is the Queen!
Too difficult… by heart MIDORI ITO… ♥️
I believe Sasha Cohen was the most balletic skater of all time: incredible spins, incomparable spirals, beautiful hack and arms. Oksana was very good, but IMHO, she is not in a top 10.
Thank you for sharing your opinion!!!
@@dmmchugh3714 yes I also loved watching Sasha Cohen. When she was good she was very good but unfortunately she wasn’t consistent.
Yeah well I fully disagree with your judgement of Oksana. And don’t tell me that Kerrigan's story was outshined by Oksana's.
