Great song and great talent with this young man. Been listening to him for many years, surprising. I can see why Clapton features him on his Crossroads Concerts. Here is another powerful song: Stop This Train
Stop This Train is surprisingly one of the most intricate songs to play on the acoustic guitar for anyone.. and the lyrics are masterfully written.. Always a touching song to listen to. One of my favourite from Mayer!
@@baldbearded9601 Yes, I agree and he has plenty to listen to. I chose this song because of the acoustic and the lyrics . I I know that Wilburn is close to his father or at least expressed his love of him. His whole album "where the Light is" is excellent. I am old as well still have hair.
John Mayer is covering Jerry Garcia's guitar parts (and vocals), playing with Dead and Company, currently on tour. Saw a video of him playing with them (on Jamel aka Jamal's channel) and he is brilliant!
Hey Chod, great to hear from you yesterday, I appreciate you doing this reaction so quickly. I definitely have always used music to get me through whatever it is I'm dealing with at any particular time in my life, and knowing what my future holds, this song reminds me that yes Gravity has taken better men than me and that I should always be thankful for the life that I had even if it has been cut short. And what a performance by John Mayer. Bless you and your family my friend. PEACE ✌ ☮
Have never listened to John before, but this song really grabbed me. Great song, great voice, great guitarist. Absolutely love it. I'll definitely be checking out more from him. Enjoy your reactions.
Ugh I am so happy that you're listening to some John Mayer! He is one of my favorite artists of all time. He is such an amazing lyricist as well as obviously a great guitarist. Just love him. I hope you continue to do more❤ I was lucky enough to see him once in concert. Will definitely be seeing him more hopefully
No doubt about it, one of the greatest modern day guitarists, he is astonishing really, very very talented, ihave heard most of his albums, because i di admire him so.
Great performance, cool reaction. If you check out more Mayer, I highly recommend "Stop This Train." Beautiful, melancholy, contemplative song about the relentless passage of time, with incredible lyrics.
I'm digin' the new intro music here on your channel! You really can whack some skins buddy! :) I'm also a fan of Mayer's demonstration on the guitar that less is more... And that more is more too! Quite a shred at the bridge! :) I didn't really know he was until my overseas-online guitar teacher kept referring to Mayer's chops and amazing writing and amazing talent as a guitarist. Thanks for this! :)
His less is more is writing incredible songs with unique jazz chords/ changes plus he can flat out shred and sing his heart out when he needs to his lyrics are so unusual and visual incredible artist
That drummer went on to play with the Tedeschi Trucks band as one of the two drummers. He recently quit say about 9 months ago. Great in the pocket drummer, in the vein of Steve Jordan
Love him and that song! Soooooo goooood, smooooth.....One thing for sure gravity does bring me down and keeps me down as it is suppose to do. Unless you have painful body issues and joint pain, gravity isn't always a good thing.
John Mayer's hero is SRV. John, Mark Knopfler, Mike Campbell and Derek Trucks are, in my opinion, the four greatest living guitarists, with SRV being the absolute greatest of all. John grew on me after seeing him live so many times with D & C.
Saw John in concert with his blues trio. Oh yeah, he plays guitar. Really really well. 😆 Check out his live cover of All Along The Watchtower. Good guitar work in there too....
Hey Chod, I forgot I wanted to mention that John Mayer was heavily influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughan, just check out that Fender strat he's playing, but check out the induction for SRV to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, John Mayer was the one to give his induction speech. Just wanted to let you know brother. PEACE ✌
@@davidhattman7649 I should have said John is 1 of 7 of Eric's favorite guitarists: Duane Allman , Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, John Mayer and Albert Lee. Is that OK with you David?
There’s not a bad song on his first 2 albums. They’re up with the greatest ever made. Try 3x5, No Such Thing, Neon, City Love, Clarity, Somethings Missing, Stop the Train and so on.. This song is amazing as well obv
Even though I had heard of John, I had not heard much if any of his music. He sure can rip it up. Early on in the song it kinda sounded like a smooth blues I don't hear too often.
hey Chod did you see my post for you give J.Geils Band Live in Paris a Listen so you can see them Live for yourself not asking you to post it on here just want you to see them live thanks
If you’re a serious guitar player you can’t help but admire John, he uses such weird chords and weird chord progressions and timing - so hard to copy a seemingly simple song.

This is a dream right.
Was not a John fan until he joined Dead and Co. He's definitely grown on me over the last 6 years of touring with Dead and Co. I really enjoy him now.

Go on, the live version of "Neon" is absolutely fantastic, and there's many more. John Mayer is one of the greatest guitarists of all time!
U must hear more. Split screen sadness
I hope his musical ability keeps growing as he ages, because he's slowly turning into a fine aged wine.

Yeah I'm sure you've been apprised, but if you didnt know John played, theres a lot you can hear that's good yet.
such a freat song from a young performer, it's on my playlist of faves
One of Mayers best songs from his album continuum, also one of his finest albums
He released it on his first 3 albums

Also funny that you say you didn't realize that John Mayer played the guitar. That's pretty much what he's known for LOL too funny
Not only does he play the guitar but his idol was Stevie Ray Vaughan who is known as one of the best and John is a incredible artist
I never used to like him, cause he always gets all the babes. But, he really is good. That bastard. Yeah. Peace
Neon would be a great song to check out next. Definitely live though!
Brilliant musician and unmistakable voice!!💙🎸🎶🎸🎶

Keep me where the light is🙏
Great choice... music can lift us up.

One of the best on guitar
I wish more therapy sessions used musical instruments as therapy. Glad you found drums to help you get thru stuff!

That’s my second favorite song by him.. my favorite is Heartbreak Hotel
Clarify , neon by John Mayer
Eric Clapton said that Mayer was his favorite guitar player.
Actually he did not say he was his favorite guitar player. What he did say is that John is a master guitar player.

“Continuum” is his all time album. “Where the light is” is the best live concert recorded in the last 25 years.

Sweeping at 7:00? 👀
It's pretty ironic. John Mayer has said before the he does not like his voice as a singing voice. I think he's phenomenal but whatever

can you do a reaction to Tattooed Lady by Rory Gallagher
If only he could get to date some prettier women. LOL.
Could you pull better lmao
